The reason for my visit to the Tracy Auto Zone was to replace an alternator that was under warranty I had purchased from a Auto Zone in Oakland a couple of years ago...(always purchase lifetime parts it's worth it) . This transaction went smooth...unfortunately the new alternator was a dud, left me stranded and drained my battery. after it was installed. The car was towed 40 miles back to the shop. My mechanic de-installed the dud alternator & battery then I called Issac...yeah I was heated but Issac took care of everything...Replaced the battery which wasn't under warranty, got me a new alternator and covered the reinstalling cost to my mechanic...Much props to Issac thankx man... read more

Wandered in to pick up a new trailer lock because the key for ours broke. They had a few different options and it was easy to locate exactly what we were Looking for inside the store. The shelves were well organized and seemingly well stocked. Floors were dirty but I don't really expect much different in an auto parts store. Taking 1 star away primarily because the staff seemed rather disorganized and service was slow. We stood at the front, along with 3 or 4 other customers for a good amount of time before anyone came to the checkout. New people would walk in and stand in random places and the staff Failed to Direct them to the designated checkout line. It evolved into a bit of confusion with everyone on who was to be helped next. Luckily we weren't in too big of a rush and our lock seems to be working out just fine. I appreciate the convenience of specialty stores to help us get exactly what we need. read more

Every time I come to AutoZone experience! They always know what's wrong with my car and I have an older car. My light turned on for what I thought might have been a bad battery. I let the agent know and he said it actually might be your alternator. He grabbed the machine tested it and it was my alternator. She ended up paying to get this part painted, and when we were about to get it installed that's when we found out it was the wrong part! But...Issac the store mgr was great about the whole thing. He gets FIVE stars. He have me the $$ back for the part, and told me I could get the $$ back for the paint job too, but he'd have to file a claim w/ corporate. Called to get pricing and availability on some spark plugs. The phone was answered by a woman who asked me to hold. I was put on hold and waited for about 15 minutes when she came back to ask how she could help me. I told her I needed pricing on spark plugs, her reply was ok. I then started to tell her year, make and model of my car, during which time she put me back on hold without a word or notification. I waited about another 6 minutes and then hung up for a total of almost 23 minutes. I know this as I looked at my phone for duration of call. If this is how they treat a simple phone call can only imagine how it would be in store. Went to this store for a simple battery test and the so called no it all employee tells me my battery is good at 12 volts and recommend that I change the alternator instead. They didn't stock the part so I had to order it online so at the same time I thought I'd go ahead and change the belt also. After ordering online and was charged $134 and installing the part and belt come to find out it wasn't the alternator after all. After having a neighbor who is a retired mechanic he tested my battery and said it needed replacing. And sure enough that was the issue to begin with. Now I go back and try and get my core change back and what should have been a in and out process took over an hour when they couldn't find my order number or invoice!!!!Agh. Probably just some city official eager to spend your expiring tax payer money. Who ever is in charge of this evidently didn't do it correctly the first time with accordance to laws. Sure enough, the battery was in when I came in at 9. They helped me install my battery and walked me through the process. Thank you Nathan for helping me install my battery on my Ford Expedition. I ordered a part online in the morning, indicated it was in stock & able for pickup the same day. By 7pm I hadn't gotten a Pick Up Notice, so I called. A very bored sounding woman told me that it was not in stock & I could pick it up the next day. That didn't work for me as I was having surgery. I asked why it was in stock online & why I was made to wait all day when I could have gotten it somewhere else earlier in the day. She had no response & said "that's ok" when I told her I'd never shop at AZ again...No apology, no regret, no offer to help in any way, or check another store, nothing. Went to O'Reilly's by 11TH in Tracy, who didn't have it, but checked with his brother at their store down the street by Harbor Freight who had it waiting for me in 5 minutes. Why is it so hard for some people to give basic customer service that they're paid to give? Training? Attitude? LAZINESS?..When did doing the least amount of work possible to still get paid become the work ethic of America? I'm ashamed.. read more

I finally get to the front of the line this young punk with peach fuzz on his face "pretty boy" asks if I need help, duh! I Then mention I have an autozone card he sighs and asks for my number. Give him the number flicks the receipt at me I'm like oh you little b**tch! Customer service here is non existent. Go to momentum auto parts around the corner. This would be a Z E R O star review if possible. My visit was a total JOKE. I walk up at 8:45, guy looks at me and tells me they're closed. They close at 9. Then the guy is like flirting with some mom for what felt like forever, and then gets to me and asks what I need, I say 1996 f350. He responds is that a Chevy or Honda? (Seriously?! You work at an auto parts store) Then he asks what I need, I tell him a pinion bearing, he spells it pinnon barring, and then tells me there's no part called a pinion bearing. ‍ I just walked out, and then he goes oh lemme unlock the door for you. It's 8:55 and he had locked the door, with 4 customers in side. Worst service ever. read more

Unfortunately I did not put the coolant in the right place and she was so kind to follow me to a body shop to have the fluid flushed out of my brake fluid and also drove me home. Wow!!! That all I can say about this place. Bad very slow in service and they don't do really help I will never come here again. Been an Auto Zone customer since they opened and it depends which store you go to is questionable in service and knowledge. I brought my battery for my RV which is hardly use and left uncharged to see if they can give it a little charge so I can start it up. I checked battery before going there with a volt meter and the guy told I will take 45 min. I came back 1:30 hours later and I was told my battery did not except charge, it's bad. So I took it home and check it with the volt meter again and it read the same as if it was never charged. So I went to get a battery charger from a different store and hook it up and now my battery is fully charge and holding. This is just bad specially when they Amazon and other competition. Good job only loosing another loyal customer of 20 yrs! read more

My husband bought a battery from there a few years ago for my car. Unfortunately the battery just died and since I didn't have the paperwork I had to call to find out where it came from. I was on hold for 15 minutes and finally gave up. Since the lady at O'Reilly was nice enough to tell me that the brand of battery came from Autozone I decided to just go in and take my chances. First off .. exactly how do they pick the managers? The one I met told me in order to check my battery I had to bring it in myself (disconnect and all ..) because his machine was out and didn't know when the next one was coming .. needless to say I was in shock, I don't know how to do this .. thankfully J'hon came out and said that he would do it for me and bring it in to test it out. Not only did J'hon make me feel better about my crappy week, he made this whole experience worth the time. He pulled the battery (with ease), brought it in, tested it, found I was under warranty and replaced it with a new one. The whole time never once complaining or acting as if it wasn't his job. I'd say he went out of his way to make sure I'd come back. If you ever need anything there see J'hon .. he'll help you with a smile, a joke and make you feel at ease. I called Auto Zone this morning because I need a battery, a guy name Damien answered the phone and asked to assist me. He was very professional and polite and ask how could he help me explain to him that I needed a new battery. And asked him how much it would cost he quoted me the price and gave me directions. When I arrived I called him and to let him back to let him know that I was outside. He came out and sold me a battery, curb side service. He said he would put it in for me but however my car had a strap on it held the battery in place and it couldn't be removed by him because of the computerized system. But he would give me a guys name that was next-door that was able to install battery for me. I think Damien was very helpful and caring thank you very much Damien.
