On September 22, 2025, my son purchased a 2013 Ford Mustang GT Coupe from Autovend USA. The dealership added three separate fees for the same services. A total of $1,978 for bogus charges separate from the sale price.
* Predelivery Fee ($599)
* Reconditioning Fee ($1,200)
* Electronic Registration Filing Fee ($179).
I spoke with the dealership, finance manager, who claims the Administrative Cost to prepare the documents was $599. The $179 is for document fees. The $1200 is for detailing, cleaning, inspections, and repairs to the car, which was not included in the sales price. I thought sale price usually includes detailing, cleaning, inspections, and repairs to vehicles to cover the costs. She claims they don't include those fees in their sales price. This company is a scammer. They take advantage of young kids by adding bogus charges to their contract agreement. As you can see below, I've provided a description of what each fee covers, and they are basically the same services that are just labeled differently.
1. Electronic registration filing fees in Florida, in addition to high dealer "doc fees" are used by dealers to cover overhead and profit.
2. Pre-delivery Fees in Florida (often called dealer fees or doc fees) are unregulated fees used to cover cleaning, inspection, and profit.
3. Reconditioning Fees in Florida are dealer-imposed charges used to cover inspection, cleaning, and repairs. These fees are often considered "bogus" or profit-padding by consumer advocates. read more
