I'll make this as short as I can. 1. Couldn't set up my auto-draft payments correctly for 3 mo, which flagged me as a non payment of some sort when going in for re-cal. They would pull out some arbitrary amount, and not what was owed. 2. Had this Draeger for many years; switched from Guardian (because it takes 5 mins to start your car). Only time I ever had an issue, was this period where my handset would fail, ON THE SECOND TEST ONLY after starting it in sub freezing temps. Three times it happened. It would pass, then fail (rolling), stop the car, then restart no issues. Obviously this didn't count against me, but they: a. Said they would replace my handset, but didn't until after the 3rd fail (lied). b. Charged me for the re-cals. They indicated they sent the unit to Draeger and found no issues, but after they swapped it - no problems... BE WARNED: If you submit a complaint, you give up your right to sue and have to accept "their" answer. 3. Dropped their customers and flipped them over to Foss. I received 1 email, with no real instructions or details. This was not a good experience. Draeger is a fantastic product (despite my buggy handset) and probably the best out there. This business is capitalizing on people's errors, with no real business ethics. REMEMBER: This is a for profit business attempting to profit from you based on your mistakes. They are not law enforcement or government. You should expect them to operate like any other business, where you are the customer and source of their income. Aside from being direct, which is how state patrol expects these companies to operate (which is fine and makes sense), you don't need to be treated like you're a criminal. That's the job of the justice system that is working with you to pay your debt to society and protect the public. They're overstepping their bounds, and you have every right to take your business elsewhere. In other news, I have no reason to think they're in business any longer. This company is a ripoff. They charge so many fees and the customer service is non existent. You want to feel like a low life with no credibility go ahead and call them. I'd suggest any other company to get your device. To Autosafe your just a number and a paycheck. They will take you for all they can every month. Hidden fees. I wrote a long review on Autosafe before and had to retract it because I was still a client. First off. I messed up. My fault. I am not blaming these guys for my conviction. That being said they are hands down the hardest company to deal with through the entire DUI process. The billing statements are MONTHS behind. My IID was unistalled early November and I am still recieving bills from them in January saying that I am being billed for this months service. I call every time and they say to not worry about it its just "the way they work". I also had the distinct pleasure of transferring my IID to another state. I talked to over 5 people at Autosafe as well as the Washington State Trooper in charge of the IID program. Nobody could tell me how to properly get the device transferred so I did not have to drive back to Washington every time I needed service. My Boise Draeger IID company had NO problem transferring the device. He had answers for all of my questions. It was almost like he knew what he was doing. Not once did I ever feel that was the case with Autosafe. They are a monopoly on the IID/ DUI market. Do some research and you will find it to be true. They provide little to no service and charge you insane amounts. Again I did it to myself but wow this company is incompetent I hope you never have to have one installed in your vehicle. I've heard bad things about most companies but I will say fist hand, DO NOT USE AUTOSAFE. YOU WILL REGRET YOUR DECISION. Try another company. If you have had the misfortune of needing an IID device, this company will only make an already bad situation much, MUCH worse . . . AVOID! Their business model is quite clearly premised on gouging those who are already in a bad situation and trying to get it behind them. First, the Draeger IID fried a ~$500 electrical module in my 2003 Ford Expedition. Oh, and if you want to get your vehicle service in a shop for something having nothing to do with the IID. Guess what? Autosafe sticks you for an $50 because a legitimate mechanic working on your vehicle in a licensed service facility and/or dealership constitutes a 'violation'. Their IID machine also trips often with false alcohol readings, seemingly spontaneously, and the court and DOL WILL use that against you, even though you have done NOTHING wrong. Ka-CHING! Mine was installed by their approved contractor, Stereo Warehouse, in Shoreline, and that is the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered -- really appalling. Techs seemingly on drugs (Trembling, sweating, dialated eyes, etc) an owner whose rudeness makes him appear mentally ill, the list is long there. But the horror of installation only portended the horror of AutoSafe! Auotsafe's 'customer service' is HORRIBLE, rude, rude, RUDE. Unhelpful, too. If you go with them, get ready for being treated like a piece of garbage and given the runaround, time and time again. When you're unprofessionally bounced from person to person, you have to waste time giving the SAME information, time and time again. Apparently they have not discovered modern computerized CRM tools! Their billing staff are downright nasty, and individual with whom I had the severe misfortune of speaking, Tyler, adopted language and a vocal tone that seemed to indicate he thinks he is some kind of corrections guard or other abusive authority figure, rather than someone there to help Autosafe's unfortunate clients. His unprofessionalism and downright rudeness is typical of Autosafe's horrid CS standard and contempt for its customers. Tyler's supervisor, Gina, was no better. I see where he got it. Clearly, he took his CS ques from her. Gina is one of those very frustrating people, obviously uneducated and blue collar (to put it nicely), who thinks shouting you down constitutes effective communication. She does NOT listen, is combative and at NO POINT sends any kind of message about appreciating your business. To Gina, you are just lowlife dirt--some sap required to install and IID and if you don't like it, get theirs IID removed and go somewhere else (she actually said this to me. Of course, that would cost me even MORE money due to them!). She adopts a shrill, unnerving tone and simply repeats herself over and over and over like a 3d grader to 'prove' her point. Very frustrating! AutoSafe is a terrible company, staffed by awful people. They gouge you financially at EVERY opportunity and then treat you like a lowlife. Their device very well might cause your vehicle serious electrical system damage and, when it does, instead of helping you, they use it as an opportunity to gouge even MORE money from you. If you are price shopping Autosafe and its competition, PLEASE make sure to tack on extra THOUSANDS of dollars for Autosafe caused: vehicle damage, repairs thereof, their $50 charge for numerous specious, inaccurate 'violations', additional court fines, court fees, legal fees and all the time you will waste dealing with their horrid people on the telephone and for the repairs, court appearances, etc. All that from normal, non-violative use of their Draeger interlock device. Autosafe has a great racket going. Given who their customers are, the State Attorney General's Consumer Protection investigators have very little incentive to hold them accountable, so Autosafe gets away with their unconscionable business practices. I have had my IID for almost a year and have had hardly any issues. Recently there was water damage done to my device and my heart was so heavy after finding out the cost of the handset. I spoke with numerous CSR's with no one understanding my issue, and how I just needed some time to pay for the whole thing. I ended up speaking with Lani R. in the legal department and she really made my life a whole lot easier. I was so upset and worried about how I was going to come up with the $500.00 deposit. I am not rich, and do not have a lot of financial help from anyone. She understood my situation and was more than willing to work with me on this matter. She listened to me and actually cared about what was going on with me. I don't think i've ever quite experienced such kindness and compassion from anyone. I was very surprised and so blessed that she was willing to work with me. I think I would still be in a pickle if it wasn't for Lani. R. If you have ANY issues, she is one of the best, most professional people you could possible come across. I am very happy I did. I would definitely recommend Autosafe to anyone needing a device! Very Confusing Billing statements. Not 1 bill-monthly statement was EVER the same Amount. I was a customer for over 48 months, 51 total bills. I have proof from monthly debit card paymts I was overcharged 20-25$ each and every month. Owner refuses to acknowledge this so the next agency I forwarded info to was the Wa. State Attorney Generals office. BEWARE OF AUTOSAFE. Find another Interlock Provided. AUTOSAFE intentionally adds extra fees and REFUSED to fully explain how line item fees are charged twice.. Even though Auto Safe decided to have someone from there refute my review. I stand by it. The device CAN and WILL amplify ANY electrical anomoly in a vehicle. Not only has the device Killed 2 brand new battery's but has caused other anomalies also. I have taken my car to a mechanic twice to have the whole electrical system checked on the car. Nothing was found at fault in the car. All parts in the ignition system have been replaced.yet it still kills the car. No issues whatsoever BEFORE installation. Many many issues since. read more

This company is terrible. They have not been reporting the ignition interlock to the DMV for 6 months, we have paid them $1300 this year and they wont accept the blame. Before I start let me say I alone am responsible for the DUI there is no excuse for drinking and driving in this day and age. With so many options available I had a SMART START device it was the worst device you could possibly put in your vehicle their customer service is nonexistent. I also had issues with false readings with their customer service on the phone the car failed started failed started failed then gave me a warning and then passed all within 25 minutes during this time I was driving in downtown traffic stuck on the side of the road with my lights flashing and my horn honking. I kept the young man on the phone with me during this entire time and I told him I wanted it noted that I am not drinking and driving that there's a problem with the device to which he replied and I quote "I'm not in the vehicle with you so how do I know you're not drinking?" I guess that camera taking a picture of me every time I blow in my car at was just for good looks.The state of Washington D OL considers all fails during the last four months if you have a failed result then your time of having to have a breathalyzer is extended an additional four months. That's almost an additional $500. Since then I switched to a AUTO SAFE Drager this device has been much easier to use and when there has been a problem they have noted it on my account and taken care of the problem as quickly as possible. When device had an issue they replaced it and noted it. I called in and was called back within 15 minutes. The young woman stayed on the phone with me and was sympathetic and helpful! Like I was a customer NOT a criminal. BTW this is the only time I've been in trouble in my life. If you do find yourself in trouble then this is a reliable device just get used to it and remember you are being punished read more

By far the worst company I have ever dealt with! They treat you like a criminal and not a client. If you miss a "Re-Cal", they call it a failure to appear. That is a term used in a court of law if you miss a court date. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they put out warrants for missing a "Re-Cal". If you are a customer like I just was, you should really look at your autopayments that are coming out. They've over charged me a number of times and today was the last. I will be switching to Smart Start and I recommend you do too. If you're not yet a customer, beware of what I'm telling you now. Not only will you deal with the worst technicians when getting installed, or a "Re-Cal", but the customer service in their Silverdale office is worse than going to court. They work for us, we don't work for them. Remember that. Smart Start will be my smart start for 2016. read more

I've tried to use the Warranty that I purchased with Auto Safe when I bought a car from Pinckney Chrysler in 2013 twice now. Both times I was told my claim wasn't covered. Two years ago I needed a new engine but it wasn't covered because of why I needed it--a blown spark plug. Today I called them because I need a new alternator and drive shaft. Again, not covered. It just seems there's always a reason that they can't pay. I regret ever buying their warranty. read more

If I could split my review between the device versus the cost, I would give the device 4 stars and the cost and customer service 3 stars. First the device, I had a Drager Interlock 7000 installed on my vehicle for 4 months. Initially, I had some problems with it when I was unplugging and plugging the device back in when I exited and entered the vehicle, respectively. When I entered back into the vehicle and plugged it back in, it would not accept my blow and it would take me at least 5 attempts until it accepted my blow, which was very frustrating and nerve racking. However, then I stopped unplugging and plugging it back in because a friend suggested that maybe the connection was not good after I plugged it back in. Once I left it plugged in and didn't mess with it anymore, it gave me no more problems and was smooth and easy to use. I did a lot of research on the different IIDs available in WA state and I decided to go with this one because less people complained about its functionality. I also had a good chat with their technical department about the device and they reassured me that it was fine in all kinds of weather and did not drain the car battery, which were complaints about other IIDs. The only thing that it was sensitive too was direct sunlight and that I should keep it out of direct sunlight. I also liked that I didn't have to hum when I blew into the device. Overall, I am very happy that I chose this IID over the other options. That being said, having this and probably any other IID is a costly endeavor. These are the various fees I had to pay: installation fee $120 WSP install fee $10 monthly lease for device with camera and GPS $110 bimonthly WA State Patrol fee $10 monthly DOL fee $20 monthly theft & loss protection (optional) $9 bimonthly recalibrations are free removal fee $120 4-month compliancy evaluation fee $54 final data download/monitoring check $55 Since I only had the device for 4 months, they really gouged me at the end. I don't know why, but AutoSafe does not charge for installation at time of installation, instead they charge for installation fee at the end, along with removal fee, 4-month compliancy evaluation fee, and a final data download. My last recalibration was done a week before my 4 months were up, so I had to go back for a final data download, which was an additional charge to get the last week of data. It also takes awhile for the removal of the IID. You need to call AutoSafe for removal, then they have to write a letter to DOL to get final approval for removal before you can actually get the device removed, which takes 3-10 days. So in the end, I had to have the device an extra week after my 4 months and had to pay for a 5th month of device lease. This was a waste of money and I wish AutoSafe would prorate the lease. When I was going through the removal process I had conflicting information from customer service representatives and had to keep calling back, which took forever since their wait times for a representative were long. So, if it had not been for the extra costs and wait time, I would have given AutoSafe 4 stars. read more

The customer service was above par aswell, specifically Lisa, as the main person I delt with helped me at every step of the way and would refer anyone dealing with that type of situation to her specifically. read more

As i read the reviews down below, i'm totally blown away how ridiculous these random rants are. I mean we messed up and had to get these devices in our cars. Probably should just embrace the situation instead of trying to place the blame on someone other than ourselves. BUT I guess every situation is different but i have had only good experience with every single person i spoke to. One person that made the biggest differences and i recommend everyone to request her is Alyce. She is something amazing. I recently was in an awful car accident, where my car was totaled and my bank account literately drained! She went out of her way to work with me and help me anyway possible. To get it removed and the paperwork started with my new car. The girl even took it a step farther and called my insurance company for me. I went to bed last night thanking god twice for this women ill probably never get the opportunity to meet her but hope she knows that she made a big difference in my life yesterday and Ill be forever thankful! read more

I am writing this today, as a testiment to the EXCELLENT customer service I personally have received from John H at AutoSafe. John has gone above and beyond, in not only, explaining to me the situation, but also looking for a solution that works best for both of us. I have had issues w/ billing, and he fixed it, and even got me a credit to my account. Most recently, I was told by one rep. that I had to get the IID w/ the camera on my next recalibration. That was not a problem, the law is the law, but when i asked if there was any way we can perhaps postpones, seeing as how my time is up later this year, and I really dont wanna switch when Im almost done. Rep told me that there was a fee that could not be waived. So out of the blue, John email me, asking how I was doing? I then proceeded to vent to him and express my discontent w/ the situation. He immediately went to work for me. Got them to postpone the addition of the camera until the absolute last minute, he also said they would waive some fees for me. This was such great news, it made my day, no, it made my week. I should also mention that I have had the IID for going on 7yrs now.....All my fault, but still, a long time. I have had issues in the past, but ever since I have been working w/ John, I have yet to have any issues, w/ the machine or w/ them. So for those reasons, I will gladly give AutoSafe a 5-Star rating. Nobody wants to have this device in their vehicle, but you likely did something to deserve it, at least go w/ a company that cares about thier clients and wants to change the image that most people have of these companies. I will say this though, I have not had any ohter IID companies, so I cannot comment on how other companies work, but after a rough patch in the begining, now that I'm soo close to the end, I cannot afford any problems, and John is working on my side to make that does not happen. read more

Auto safe by itself has not done anything wrong as far as the way they have treated me, BUT, the Drager device has a lot of issues, and I hope auto safe will read this and make a decision to go with a different brand. I had a drager that seemed to work OK, easy to use etc.. and then I had to have it replaced due to an electrical issue on my end. They replaced it at my expense, fine, it was my side that messed it up, anyway the new one they installed works only randomly. The problem is the window between the blow and then suck is mili-seconds, so 4 times now I couldnt get it to take my sample, and 4 times now I exceeded the 20 allowable tries before it locks up for 30 minutes. I called technical support and they said that was not an adjustable parameter. I don't think the point of the machine is to test how fast you can accurately tell the difference between blowing and sucking, why not have the window 2 seconds? its about the sample right????? please consider changing equipment provider brands, I would recommend Autosafe if they had a different interlock brand. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. They do not respond to emails and their technical support is incompetent. If you transfer your device to another car, be prepared to get a letter from the DOL providing a date when your driving privileges will be suspended because autosafe does not turn in the paperwork as they should to DOL. In the interlock industry..you get what you pay for. Drager hands down has the best device in the industry. A quick blow and short suck back with no obnoxious humming is the way to go. I used to have Lifesaver and it aborted all the time from same hum tone. The new Drager has very quick warm up. By the time I turn my key on and grab the device and raise it to my mouth it is ready for a test. In very cold weather it might take a second or two longer but very quick warm up. I have had my device for a LONG time and never had a battery problem. 99% of my tests go through the first time. Once in a while I dont take a deep enough breath and it will take another test. I never get false positive alcohol readings...probably because I dont drink. Too many people are trying to drink heavy the night before and then try to blow the next morning to find out they are still drunk..ruining it for the rest of us. The reason we have cameras and GPS is way too many interlock restricted drivers have tried to fool the device or try to drink just under the limit. About cost and service. Im lucky to have a good service guy...he used to install stereos and knows how to get into a vehicle and harness up an interlock. Mechanic shops and other vendors with no experience with electrical gadgets and devices should be avoided if possible. Those of you that have had a bad customer experience with Autosafe probable deserve it. When you call any service provider..whether its Comcast, your PUD, the courthouse etc...start by being polite and positive. Ive found with Autosafe when I actually talk to them with a respective tone they reciprocate. And those of you who are getting financial help and pay little to nothing to be on the program need to check yourselves. I am paying for your interlock so shut up and get with the program. If you just have a year or less on interlock just do what you gotta do, it will be over in no time. read more
