I was referred to Autopractor by a relative. Took my 2015 Hyundai Sonata in yesterday for routine maintenance (oil change, rotate tires, change air filters, etc). I was very happy with Steve and the service provided. I will definitely be going back there in the future for my routine car maintenance.

How it all started... took my car into Hyundai dealership for the 15K mile routine maintenance. Per the owner's manual, the 15K scheduled maintenance suggests oil change, rotate tires, change air filter, and change cabin filter. The Hyundai dealership, without even looking at my car, started telling me that a tire balance and alignment was mandatory, and that I probably needed new brakes and new tie rod--all an additional $400 above and beyond the oil change. I had the gut instinct that something was shady. I felt so uneasy that I demanded my car back from the dealership without any service being performed. I called two other Hyundai dealerships who also tried to add-on ridiculous unnecessary services in excess of $400.
After such a frustrating experience, how do you find a reputable shop to perform routine car maintenance? That's right... you call daddy. My dad recommended Autopractor because he knew someone that had taken their truck there for service and repair, and was very happy with the outcome.
Right away, I called Autopractor and spoke with Steve. When I explained the ordeals I had with the Hyundai dealerships, Steve explained what 'normal maintenance' is required for 15K miles and how much it cost; and he explained that all those services Hyundai dealerships were trying to add on were completely unnecessary for my vehicle (three years old averaging 5K miles per year).
I took my car in the same day. The guys did the synthetic oil change and rotated my tires. They checked my air filters and stated that they were still very clean and didn't need to be changed yet. Steve also stated that my brakes were good and didn't need replacement; and that my tires neither needed balancing nor alignment. My air filter didn't need to be replaced, but if it had, Autopractor charges a few dollars compared to Hyundai which charges $45.99.
How often do you come across a repair place that tells you the truth, that you don't need such-and-such service/repair? How many times has a repair man saved you money?
If you want the fancy waiting room with leather chairs, big screen TV, and vending machines then continue paying exorbitant prices at the dealership. If you are ok with a small repair shop, with humble waiting area, free coffee and wi-fi then I recommend Autopractor. Steve's honesty has gained my trust and repeat business.
Autopractor is southwest of the intersection of North Avenue (Route 64) and Kirk Road. It is in an industrial area somewhat behind the Colonial Cafe restaurant. read more
