I went to several local auto mechanizing my area and none of the shops near me felt comfortable to remove the embedded screws. I made the mistake of initiating a request for an appointment via the main website. I requested appointments for Saturdays (by the way, their hours say that they are open on Saturdays on Yelp, Auto Tech, Chamber of Commerce... you name it. How they came up with that decision, I have no idea, but I can tell you that they were my last resort. They (Auto Tech) come highly rated and that's great if you can actually come in when you are not working. We are a couple and we don't have time to do all of that during the week. Saturday's are our go to. Actually, I can think of a possible reason that I believe doesn't fly anymore. Covid-19. That is one of the excuses that I am hearing from businesses; "Well, thanks to Covid, we cut our hours and are no longer open on weekends. This is really sad since you could be making money hand over fist. I believe that it is possible to be open on Saturday. Hire at least one pro that is willing to do the work and would be off one or two days during the week. You could be one of the few that is willing to help out those that can't afford to take time off to get things done. I wanted to save 1500$ by installing my own tow hitch on my Honda Pilot, so I purchased parts and brought them to Auto Tech to install. The guy at the front desk, Dave, was incredibly professional and knowledgeable, first on the phone and then in person. He got under the back of the vehicle to check things out and gave me an estimate. The bolts in the kit didn't fit the Pilot, so they went over to Menards to get the correct size. I was looking to have preventive maintenance performed on the CVT transmission in my '09 Jeep. The dealer did not want to change the fluid and insisted it was best left untouched--against the maintenance schedule in the manual. On a work vehicle with over 145,000 miles, that's not a wise approach for longevity. I took to yelp to find a respected transmission shop and that's how I found them. I called and explained my situation. It was clear immediately that this place knows their way around notoriously mysterious continuously variable transmissions. I was told they would drain the old fluid, replace the filter, and replace the old fluid with the appropriate Valvoline fluid. The tech on the phone was explaining the different generations of JATCO CVTs to me. They would also check the fluid level using a scanner to cross reference the fluid temperature, something many people don't realize needs to be done with these units. I'm very late writing this review. Since the servicing, it's been about four months and 10,000 miles and it's running great! read more

Take your car here - they are great! Auto Tech has worked on two of my cars with great results, no problems, and at a very reasonable cost. Two years ago the transmission on our Honda Odyssey was failing, it had about 120k miles on it. Of the three places we took it to Auto Tech was by far the lowest price. They fixed it, seemed helpful and capable while they did it, and explained what they did. We just hit 150k and the transmission has not had a single problem. I just took my other car (IS-250) in for a new set of brakes and found that my calipers were rusted out. Again, Auto Tech fixed it quickly and at a good price. we've used them for other routine maintenance too, always satisfied with results. I highly recommend them. read more

I have been using this service for car maintenance and repair for over five years now. It's a little out of the way for me, but I manage because it is close to my morning commuter bus to the Metra Station. They have always been very reasonably priced and focused in fixing what's broken and not jacking up the price. Once I asked for a brake job ($300-$400). When I got the call for the estimate, they explained that the problem was a tie rod, which they tightened ($90). I once tried a new service close to my house when a 'Check Engine Light' came on. They wanted $600 to fix an exhaust valve. Because the light went off by itself later that day, I didn't go with them. When the light came back on several days later, Auto Tech told me the valve needed cleaning and only charged me $180. I consistently get excellent service from these guys. No razzle dazzle sales talk, just good, solid car talk. read more

I really cant express how appreciative of this place I am. I have referred to my car as the "Chevy from hell" these past few months because of all of the problems I've been having. I made the mistake of having a "mechanic" fix my car on the side and it would take forever to explain everything that happened because of my choice. When you bring your car in for a tune up for $818.18 and they replace the spark plugs with the wrong kind, what happens??!!! This issue then causes the engine to misfire and therefore before I realize why the car isn't running right, they do more repair to replace a coil for $278.47 that probably wouldn't have needed replaced if they fixed the car correctly in the first place. Your car doesn't run right when there is a tune up and spark plugs needed AC 41-990 but installed AC 41-814. SERIOUSLY. I called to let them know that for my $818.18 tune up that they used the wrong spark plugs and all they can tell me is nothing they can do because they don't have the vehicle there. I WOULD NOT let them work on my car EVER again. I have no recourse but to write this up since there is NO money going to be refunded for terrible workmanship and being ripped off for an overpriced tune up. read more

I first called and explained what my Jeep Wrangler was doing.....or not doing. I was told what might be the problem, and I had done some research myself, and they told me exactly what I was finding online. I inquired on a tow company since I couldn't drive it, and they gave me a referral but no pressure to use them. Well, I used them and they were just as nice and explained how I was to get a reimbursement through my insurance for the tow. I did get my reimbursement! Got a few messages about other problems with the Jeep, but it was up to me to have them fixed. Some of them I already knew about so I knew they were being upfront with me. I told them to fix everything and they did just that. My Jeep has well over 100K miles and it runs like new. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking around for one. read more

Never went to this place before, but we had a window that wouldn't go back up, and needed to find someone that could at least put the window up until we could get it repaired. Even tho the place was clearly busy with major jobs, they took the time have someone look at the window and explained everything. The guy at the desk got on the phone to find the part we needed and gave us a choice of waiting for it to be delivered from a local store and to be fixed, or they would put the window up and we could come back another day. We had time, so we waited. The part came, it was installed at a very reasonable cost along with, "if you have any problems with it, come back". EXCELLENT service. Everyone we came across from the desk to the mechanics were SO friendly and helpful. On the way out, I told them they now have new regular customers.
