I recently received a message from Credit Karma suggesting I refinance my auto loan. I was redirected to AutoPay, a refinance company, where I filled out an application to see if I qualified. After submitting my credentials, I was approved and spoke with a representative named Patrick Olson. He informed me that I would need to submit my sister's credentials as well since the car is financed in both our names to complete the application. Patrick Olson later explained that to proceed with the refinance, I would need to pay $1,050. We finalized the agreement, and I was told to make the payment before March 20, 2025. However, two days later, I received a text stating that my application was denied. Patrick mentioned that while the loan was initially approved, issues with the title change and sales tax impacted the loan. After the entire application I was disappointed to see "one of our loan officers will be in touch". I was hoping for an online-only experience. I received a call 2 minutes later. The young woman was disappointed to hear that I didn't have a VIN yet (you could hear it in her voice). She paused between words in her next sentence to "sneakily" hang up the call. She just figured it wasn't worth her time. Wow. Extremely poor customer service. No attempt to call back. I see the company is replying to reviews here. Shortly after I applied I received a email stating that my application was denied. Now I have hard inquiries on my report for nothing. Very misleading marketing and a bad customer experience. I first discovered autopay when looking for a purchase loan for a car I found at a dealership. I started the process and shortly received a text from a loan agent named Natalie saying "congrats you're pre-approved" give us a call. The, the next day I get an email from the same person saying I was denied? After finding out what happened, they say they can pull it back and begin working on it. Good news, I'd thought. Well, seems not as nothing else in my experience with Natalie, nor Autopay, has been even slightly good. So, shortly after sending in a purchase agreement from a dealer I'd been talking with about a particular car I found the exact same car with less mileage at a better prices. So admittedly, swapping over can be something that throws a wrench in things for a while, but I don't think my experiences have been caused by this as much as what feels and looks like simple negligence. In the email to Natalie where I asked about a swapping my app over to a different car I'd sent a link to the sale posting over it, and a subsequent following email had it all written out, VIN and mileage and price are all that should be needed. I included the same link again as well as attached photos of the vehicle information. I wouldn't hear back the rest of the day (keep in mind this was at 1 or so PM EST. Which I believe is 11am in Denver. So after not hearing ANYTHING that whole day, the next morning on a break from work I emailed Natalie again asking if they received the information I sent them the previous day. A few hours later, on my next break, I'd still received no contact from Natalie so I emailed customer service via Autopay's broken website that told me my request couldn't be sent. Only it was sent because I promptly received and email from another representative who told me Natalie was busy, and I should hear back from them soon. Understandable, right? Only right after I received said email from another rep, I also got a text from Natalie TELLING me to only contact them as they're my loan agent, then telling me they need the information I sent them the day before. I reminded Natalie that I'd already sent that information via email the previous day, but sent it again in a text to be sure they got it. I wouldn't hear anything else from Natalie AGAIN after that for the rest of the day, or days to follow. I emailed the rep who responded to my CS inquiry because as of yet, they're the only person who seemed to have any care over Autopay's customer relationships, at 9pm. The entire day had passed with no confirmation Natalie received the information I'd sent for the 2nd time nor any update about my applications at all. Finally, yesterday (It's been several days since beginning this process), I get another text from Natalie telling me they need to generate a new application and they'll call me once it gets back for pre-approval. PRE-APPROVAL.. We're still at this stage several days into the process, folks, and it's been 24 hours since that text and I still haven't been contacted. I know from experience pre-approval literally takes seconds, if not minutes. Certain not DAYS. Either Natalie Ott, or Autopay as a business, is just horrible. I'm not sure if this process will ever get completed at this rate, but even if it ever does - I am likely to not need their services by the time it's complete. I "claimed" an auto refinance offer on credit karma with autopay at 4.94% for 48 months. Just by answering some questions on credit karma, autopay hard checks my credit without notifying me. Then, they call me and say their best offer is 6.7% at 48 months and I should "call credit karma" as to why it showed 4.94%. The next day I went back to credit karma and the offer was still there. I clicked to get information and autopay hard checked my credit without me even finishing answering the questions! We were contacted by auto pay to refinance our new car. We are currently paying 7.1% interest. The letter said we were prequalified and would save $145 a month so yes we did jump on it. They did a hard credit check on us which we did not approve, we gave them our financial information and our Social Security numbers. After they did a hard hit on my credit, they offered a rate same as what I have now, the monthly was lower only because of a longer term. Now my credit score dropped 20 pts thanks to their BS. After taking a hard credit check, the lady on the phone told me that Creditkarma doesn't have my "real score" and that it's actually 50 to 100 points lower than what I can see. Like how stupid do you think I am? I talked to my bank and it turns out my score is higher than creditkarma was reporting as it hadn't caught up on all my payments yet! After expressing to the loan officer in writing and verbally that I wanted prepaid maintenance, I got stuck with a loan that included a service contract I didn't ask for. The loan contract itemized $0 items that weren't included in the loan. Buyer beware I even had a different loan I could have gotten that was cheaper, but I canceled the other one and stuck with this one out of the false impression created by the loan contract that it included things that it did not include. They say to "get it in writing," but these days you can't trust the writing either. During my dealings with the loan officer, he always talked up the service contract and ignored my preference for prepaid maintenance. Maybe he got the two confused, and I gave him and the company the benefit of the doubt, but then it's literally his job to know this stuff. Very disappointing, and I feel defrauded. He replied to an email asking for prepaid maintenance with a phone call, and now I think I know why. If he was that busy that he missed it, be careful dealing with this company. I am escalating this to consumer affairs because I believe it's a deceptive business practice. They never said the itemized things on the loan at $0 aren't included. BAIT & SWITCH! Advertised new car rate on Bankrate.com of 2.25% with min 750 credit on 8/01/2022. I made application, they pulled my credit which is 850 and approved me the same day. The person assigned to my loan said she'd contact me the following day to discuss. She never did. I called a few times to try to get someone, anyone on the phone for the details. At the very end of the day someone new called and told me the loan was reassigned to him and they could offer me a 4.something rate. He said 2.25% wasn't available to my state and he wasn't sure why the 2.25% rate was advertised. He also mentioned that if I wanted to move forward a car loan takes 2 weeks to deliver a check to the dealer. I was ready to take delivery of my new car. This company is shady. I almost refinanced a loan through this company. The rep tried to provide as little information until I received the paperwork. He tried to get me to sign and send in all the paperwork ASAP so I wouldn't have a chance to review it. He didn't tell me I would be charged a fee for their service and he tried to pressure me into purchasing GAP insurance. This fee is non-cancellable after 60 days unlike the one with my auto insurance. I asked for a 72 month loan but the initial paperwork showed an 84 month loan. This gave me time to review and review when I saw some inconsistencies. While the rate I was quoted was good, I was able to get an even better rate by going directly with the credit union (a rate he didn't have access to) and I didn't even have to pay a fee. read more

Company clearly outlined a process wherein they collect credit information from borrowers, contact the consumer with offers, and then upon selecting an offer, a hard inquiry is run on the borrower's credit. This is a lie: the company will jump straight to the hard inquiry, without first contacting the borrower about offers. I've got two pre-approved letters from autopay to reduce my auto loan payment of $85 per month. I applied thru the online and got a phone call from the autopay representative. She asked me a couple of detailed information about me and the next day another gentleman called me. They said I could get a 4.99 apr for refinance because my current apr is 6.99. He asked me my dob and ss# again and found out which loan company could help me. He explained some policy on the phone, so I asked him to send me an email more details. The next day, I've got an email that mine was declined. I called him again, and he explained that my case was declined because I didn't call him back within 2 hours from the last call. So I asked him what's my offer was. He said 7.99 apr and my payment will be $520, which is lower than my current payment, but that was 82 months. I asked him how much the total amount he said he didn't calculate. $520×82=$42640 My current payment was $589×72=$41760. Please don't try scam the innocent people. read more

Auto pay contacted me though USPS offering lower interest rate refinancing for my vehicle. Today I discovered auto pay added $1,832 to the refinanced amount. After calling Penfed, I found out auto pay added a warranty without my knowledge. My vehicle is already covered though Ford Motor company though a recall and class action lawsuit. I had no knowledge Auto pay added these charges. Auto pay uses deceptive marketing and predatory lending practices. I am seeking $1,832 witch is the different in the payoff transferred from Westlake to Penfed. I also request interest accrued since the origination of the Penfed load. The $149 auto pay fee should be refunded do to predatory lending practices. This company needs to be investigated. read more

I should've listened to the rest of the reviews. This place is full of it. I found them through Credit Karma to refinance my current car loan. They took me through the entire application process, I even had a "welcome call" with the bank taking over my loan.. only for them to call me a week later to tell me that the only way I can be approved is to add a co-signer.. Don't waste your time. They're just looking to collect your personal information. Perhaps to sell to banks to achieve sales goals perhaps? Not sure, but when I called Beneficial Bank, they told me I couldn't deal with them directly unless I went through Autopay. I thought that was pretty odd.. My wife received a letter from auto pay in regards to our new jeep. They claim to be lowered the interest rate by as much as 4%, so we gave them the necessary Information including ourselves security numbers. And it has been seven working days now and we have not been contacted. We have called every day and asked to speak to a manager of the person who It's handling our loan but yet we can get a hold of no one. A person named manaj is supposedly handling our loan but never will call us back. I believe my credit has been stolen and I'm taking necessary steps against the company. They will hit your credit and take all your info just to offer you a rate 3 times higer than the "pre qulaification". The fee you pay to get the loan done is high. They will also not let you look at the loan fees with out them being on the phone. I guess so they can try to convince you to do the loan. If you have good credit then this is not the place to get your auto loan. THEIR FEES ARE THE PROBLEM NOT THE RATE. Don't know if you have bad credit. I guess my point is it is not a good deal and the click bait they put on their adds is miss leading.... BE WARE. They are also just a broker... So the real lender will probably lower the fees. I came across Autopay through CreditKarma. The ad claimed I could save over $5k on my current car loan. I have been considering refinancing my car loan for awhile now since my credit profile is considerably better now than two years ago when I bought the car. I filled out the app and was contacted by a Michael St. Germaine. The offer he extended did carry a lower interest rate and a lower monthly payment than my current loan, however this offer would have extended my loan by 41 months and added $9,300+ to the total cost over the lifetime of the loan. When told that this was not a good offer and they will have to do better, I immediately got bombarded with calls and texts making untrue claims about the status of my current loan along with a highly unprofessional amount of condescension and overall rudeness. After asking Michael who he's licensed through to be a loan officer, he went full silence.... Until I called him out for that silence, then I received a call from a "manager." This manager couldn't tell me who was responsible for the licensing either, instead he spend his time on the phone trying to convince me that they're giving me a hell of a deal. ALL BAD! Don't do business with these people... if you do, at the very least do your math before signing anything. Complaints have also been filed, or are in the process of being filed, with CreditKarma, the Better Business Bureau and whatever government agency licenses and/or regulates these loan officers. Despite what the "business owner" might have to say, they don't care. The "manager" I spoke of in my original posting IS from the escalations department and he did nothing other than give me non-answers and play dumb about regulatory issues.
