Quite possibly the most obtuse auto loan provider I've ever dealt with. They require detailed auto vehicle information to provide a pre-approval rate, something most competitors don't require. Specifically, they require the VIN, even for a vehicle that's not built yet to provide a loan rate. It took less than two hours to tell me they couldn't help me after I filed all the required documentation and that probably took 40 minutes. Customer service is horrible. I submitted an application online and they soft pulled my credit score. My score is 800+ so I should qualify for their best interest rates. Someone called me within 30 minutes of my application and confirmed a bunch of details on my car. They told me I'd likely get their best rate at 1.99% and that they were gonna submit my loan to underwriting. I get a text the next day congratulating me that my loan has been approved and a loan officer would give me a call. During that call he mentions that my APR for the loan will be 4.34% which was SHOCKING to me after being told I qualified for the 1.99%. He was unable to explain to me why the rate was different, what caused me to get the higher rate, or offer any other options (money down, shorter loan term, etc) to get me a lower rate. Called several times but could not get an answer. Some guy finally call and said my loan specialist will get in contact with me either that day or the next. If i could give ZERO stars to this company I would. I wanted to refinance my auto loan to a lower interest rate and auto pay quoted me 2.94% as a fixed interest rate which was lower than the 4.67% I am currently paying. When I received the paperwork "Johnny Ey" called me to walk me through signing the documents. I told him I needed to slow down and read what I was signing as it seemed like he was trying to rush me through the document. While reading, I noticed that they included Gap insurance for $895 and "fees" for "$345." I asked Johnny about the Gap insurance and he gave me shady and dishonest answers like "it is included in the original offer" and "you said you wanted it yesterday", but also that "it is optional He continued to pressure me and tell me that I could remove it after signing." and "you can cancel it later," I told him if it is optional, take it out. He CONTINUED to argue with me and told me that he was "confused" since "yesterday you said you wanted gap insurance." I specifically told him that I definitely did NOT want gap insurance as I owe less on the car than what it is worth. His attitude was actually worse than the bullshit scam they are trying to pull. When I looked further the APR was 3.66% when it included all the fees. I would be paying THOUSANDS of dollars more over the lifetime of the loan. I told Johnny to get lost. They are con artists and scammers who try to sneak in extra fees and unnecessary and explicitly UNWANTED gap insurance. read more

Excited to purchase online through Car Gurus partner AutoPay? Don't be. I test drove a vehicle on Tuesday that was a private sale through Car Gurus. Wednesday morning I clicked the link, "start purchase." Within a few hours a representative from Car Gurus called and confirmed that I'd like to purchase the vehicle. She asked if I wanted to buy it outright or finance it. I mentioned I'd like to finance, and she said AutoPay would contact me. I was ready make payments, sign paperwork, and register the car by the weekend. Thursday rolled around, no calls from AutoPay so I created a profile on their website and filled out the proper info. Friday, no calls so I called them. They gathered some info and said a personalized loan officer would get in touch with me soon. They mentioned that they had all gone home early for the day but were working on Saturday so I should surely get a call by then. No calls, no emails, no voicemails. Monday rolls around and I call. AutoPay says my personalized loan officer will give me a call. Hours go by no call. I call again, same response. Hours go by, apparently they don't want money. I'm shopping for a different loan even if the interest is higher. read more

Very communicative when it comes to paying then. Currently I have paid off my vehicle and had canceled my warrant and Gap 2 weeks in advance. It is now week 4 and they still have not refunded me my money. They told me they had not received anything from the 3rd party for the contract cancellation. I called them and they said they sent it to them 2 days ago this was beginning of December. Then I told them and said where is the money now, they said it could take up to 6 weeks to process to you. Then I followed up a week later and they said it was sent out by check to the credit union which has now been over 2 weeks since the supposed check was sent out to them. They cannot provide me a tracking number of the check cause they have to find it. All they gave me was a check number and that it was shipped via fedex. It's coming close to 3 weeks since they shipped out the supposed check. read more

I receive a call back and it starts off polite and pleasant, until I start asking questions and I'm not sold on the BS that Christopher Pena was trying to sell me. It felt like harassment. This was a terrible bait and switch experience! Consumer beware. I applied through Credit Karma under the guise of refinancing with a lower interest rate. Instead of saving me money they extended my term and slipped in a $1771 warranty that I never asked for or wanted and a $500 application fee. When I realized they fraudulently added a warranty I called to ask them to cancel my application or rewrite the contract without the warranty and I was told my representative Anthony Luna would call me back. This never happened. I called again and was told the same thing. I never received a call and only got a short email saying that I can cancel the warranty at any time but no mention of taking off the charge or canceling the loan. I am extremely unhappy with my experience and will never use an online broker for a auto loan again. read more

I used Autopay online portal to refinance my car loan following a lucrative advertisement on CreditKarma. They lured me into offering an APR of less than 5% and requested to upload all my documents, after which i received an email that they are working very hard to approve my application. They ran a hard inquiry on my credit report and advised me to upload all my documents on their shady portal, which i did ofcourse. What happens next is? The agent ghosted me for a week, didnt respond to my emails or calls, i started receiving horrendous amount of spam calls as well. Finally after sending a couple of email reminders, the agent decided to send me a text that they cannot offer me a better rate than my current one unless i bring a co-signer(which means another person's data). It seems to me that Autopay is not in a business of banking services but to sell of applicants data in the market. Stay away from them! read more

The gist of my experience: a representative calls me and leaves voicemail after I've already filled out all of the necessary information ( through the credit Karma app of course) to refinance my vehicle. His voicemail says I'm approved but "with a higher interest rate" than before and I'll "need to put some money down"?? I couldn't believe my ears. I called him up and asked him if he was insane and if they were a scam company of sorts because just the logic alone screamed this. Nope. Turns out this is the actual company. These guys are absolutely simpletons with which to deal. They work with lenders to refinance auto deals. Unfortunately I selected them to work with lenders to get a lower rate. First off the loan % I applied for "was no longer available", mind you I have a credit score over 750. So none the less I took a different option. Over the 20 days, they couldn't get the paperwork to apply for my title, they needed my wife's info(she's NOT on the loan), I sent them a copy of my Driver's license on July 9th, its Almost 3 weeks into the process and they are worried my license is going to expire. I told them I am worried about the Financial institution that doesn't prioritize me as a client and get this loan pushed thru in 3 weeks. That's who we need to worry about, not me. Then they asked me for my Bank account number, which I gave them, they proceeded to tell me its not a full account number. My Account, me, so I sent them a copy of a check to prove them wrong and now I can't get them to answer me one bit. DO NOT USE this company for Auto financing. Go work with a lender directly. These guys are simpletons at the very least, and ignorant at least. DO NOT USE them. read more

My original payoff for my car was $15,437 and my new Loan amount is $17,721. I am refinancing to save myself money not to go into a bigger debt hole. I called their financial specialist Megan Smith multiple times and no response, no answer. I called the San Diego county credit union with this question as well and they said I would have to speak with Megan. I am now loosing $2,284. Don't walk run from this company. No. Though Autopay was initially easy to work with the experience quickly devolved to a cluster. Paperwork was lost and then I found out about 18 later that the warranty I purchased (a 4 year/48k mile warranty) was moved to a less reputable company at a 3 year/36k mile term. This was done because the car I purchased was previously declared a total loss by insurance, but not salvage by the state of Colorado (this is due to state law). I fought with the warranty company and Autopay and the response was "forget you". I cancelled the contract to cut my losses and got screwed again. THIS IS THE CLASSIC BAIT-N-SWITCH. Received a rate on-line saying CONGRATULATIONS, CUSTOMIZE YOUR DEAL. 2.83% apr with $0. down and a 54 month term. But when you call all they could offer was 4.2% apr. More like CONGRATULATIONS to them for reeling us in. That's a big difference. And of course they start pushing the Gap insurance and an extended warranty before we even agree to these terms. The icing on the cake is they said we were paying too much for the car by over $4000. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews because my experience with this company was amazing. I refinanced my auto loan through Autopay and they helped me cut my payments in half and reduced my interest rate by 3%!! Not to mention my loan specialist, Christopher Gardner, amazing customer service. He was always available to answer any questions I had and made sure the process went as quickly and smooth as possible.
