My comments here are my opinions after spending more than 18,000 dollars with this company. If you are looking for performance upgrade's to your Car/Truck - Run as fast as you can!!! This shop is not to be trusted. I have had to take my vehicle to two different shops to finally get it mistakes corrected, tuned and running correctly. SOW was rebuild the top end - Cam, lifters, springs etc and to rebuild the transmission and Torque Converter. One week later, I was in So. Lake Tahoe for work, al the sudden the truck made a loud bag and that was it - transmission fluid was pouring out onto the road - I had it towed back to Boise, (2,500.00) ATS removed the Trany and TC, I was told by ATS the torque converter was defective, the outter bushing had been polished wrong and was defective. My question, why wasn't the bushing checked before installing into the transmission? Long story short, ATS charged me to have the transmission rebuilt and the purchase of a new factory GM TC. two weeks later - when the oil pan filled with GASOLINE, I was not even going to take it back to them. Why you ask? I wanted to know why Gas was in the oil pan, thats why. I do not feel ATS, had they found the actual problem, to tell me the truth and correct the problem under warranty. In my opinion, the owner and his counter person are simply disgusting. Again, (these are my opinions). I have had to correct many issues with the work they did - that I am into this build now for over 28,000 dollars. I found the right shop now for performance type engines like mine. We had a huge problem with sqeaky breaks. After paying premium prices at the dealership to get them changed less than a year before we decided to not go back and head to Automotive Services instead. We took our jeep in twice. The first time was to repair the back brakes and the second time was to change the front brake pads. I spoke with Cody about 1,000 times with all of our concerns and he was super knowledgeable and patient with me. It's an auto shop so you never know how long they will take but we planned on not having our vehicle for the entire day. If they had set appointments and could work on them right away that would be amazing but we can't be too picky with auto shops. My smart car was in limp mode because of a faulty code " throttle valve " so they put it on their " diagnostic machine " told me it was 145.00 for the machine alone well five days later they called me and said they couldn't find the problem with it.but they switched around the coil packs which made no difference so they gave up and said it had burnt valves in it although it had good compression at 125 psi said it was going to cost me another 4,000 dollars on top of the 435.00 already owed .I asked them how did they know they were bad they did a paper test on the exhaust??!! And they couldn't get it done here in town it had to be sent out to California?? WHAT??. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. 435.00 DOLLARS FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OF LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT. OH AND THIS CAR ONLY HAS 38,000 MILES ON IT. read more

NEVER AGAIN will I do business with this man. The owner Mike tried to rip me off for an A.C. repair. He charged $800 and claimed that they replaced the A.C. compressor along with a few other parts in the system. We got the car back, and two days later the exact same thing happened. It took him 3 days to tow it back to his shop and look at it again. It took 3 more days to get an answer from him. At least a dozen times I was told he would call me back and not once did I receive a call. After we finally got the car back a week later unfixed, I got to looking around and found that they never even replaced the compressor that they charged $445 to replace (parts+labor). I have pictures to prove it. We also caught him in many lies told over the phone. For example, I was told he bought the new relay from Honda (after I told him that only the genuine Honda part will work and that aftermarket relays are known to cause the very issue we had)... well I called Honda and they told me that they hadn't sold that relay to anyone in a few weeks so it was impossible that Mike got the relay from them. I went to Honda, bought the correct relay, and the problem was entirely fixed for a whopping $30. I'm leaving out a ton of details because I just don't have time to get into all of it, but they wanted me to bring the car back the following week so they could milk some more money out of me. My son took his car to this shop. The car was leaking radiator fluid. They said they would charge him $100 to do a full diagnostic and they came back and told my son it would cost him $1400 to fix the the leak. This so called shop told him after their diagnosis they would need to replace the water pump and two hoses. My son was very upset and called mee to ask for advice and I told him to call around other repair shop for a better quote. After calling a few other shops he called Troy from Tune Tech over the phone they quoted $850 for the same repair. So my son took the car to Tune Tech and they only found a leak in one hose. Total cost for the repair was $ 1 0 0.00. That's right $100.00. Tune Tech will have all my Business from now on. Thank you Troy. This other So called repair shop is a rip-off and taking advantage of people, so be aware. read more

I am used to mechanics trying to burn their customers and up sell them on everything... I must say Mike is an honest straight forward guy. He was recommended to me by a family member. He is extremely knowledgeable and works diligently to complete his tasks on time. He truly puts the customers first and looks out for their best interest. After calling Automotive Technical Services & Diesel I was greeted with an upbeat and caring attitude. I was told they would get my car looked at as soon as that evening or the next morning. I promptly received a call back with everything that needed to be done and a more than reasonable price. They had my car worked on in no time at all and stayed in contact with me the entire time to provide updates and or any changes. I found mike/these guys using yelp; my work vehicle was not working (completely dead). The nice thing with these guys is they offer towing services so they were able to come and tow my car to their shop to fix. They were super easy to work with; I just called and they came and towed it (called me told me it was the alternator). The repairs were pretty pricy due to the parts and labor (reasonable though considering parts/labor). The repair was very timely/fast. As an added bonus, they changed my oil which was super nice!! I found them to be very reasonable, prompt, and fair in terms of pricing. I wish there was an ATS near my home!! My story is a bit of a saga, but the short version is that they were very kind, efficient, and good at what they do--even catching some things my "home" repair shop missed. I was nearly 400 miles from home when my car started sounding weird. I had just had the front end repaired due to an accident four weeks prior, so I started calling the list of shops the Warranty suggested. None of the seven shops could get me in for at least two weeks. I stopped at a tire place to at least have a walk-in "pretrip" done before I headed home. As I waited for my turn, I noticed a green river growing under my car. The tire place recommended another shop near by who also couldn't fit me in, but referred me to ATS. As it turned out, ATS figured out a way to fit me in, and was covered under the warranty too. They also had an in-house tow truck that came to get me within the hour! The waiting area was nice with comfortable seats, coffee, and easy access to plug-ins. As I waited, I could tell how crazy busy they were and marveled that they fit my car in anyway. Apparently the radiator hose had fallen off (possibly wasn't connected in the first repair work?). They took care of that and checked for any other problems. All done within the short time they estimated it would take! They also found my cabin air filter was clogged, and took care of that (something my home repair shop should have found LONG ago). Overall, a fantastic balance of speed and high quality work. I would recommend them % to anyone. read more

Awesome, great, thorough, friendly, and fast, with honesty and integrity to go along with it all. My f350 diesel broke down on the way home. (800 miles away) I called ATS, talked to a very knowledgeable service writer, Cody, and he had a transmission job that the part was delayed, so he had time to look at my truck. He explained exactly how process would go to find the problem. It was quite involved, but he kept informed as they completed each step of the process, as well as the labor costs. I was very happy when, during the original estimate, they found a crack in the radiator holding tank. (Very common on Fords with the age and miles like mine has.) This attention to detail quite possibly saved me an engine, or at least an overheat problem and a big fat tow bill in the middle of Nevada! I brought the truck in on Monday morning, and they worked on it as they could fit it in around their customers that had appointments. I was thrilled they could and would even look at it before the middle of the week, as they were booked up, solid. I flat got lucky to have found them! I bought the truck from a friend north of Boise. He knew the distance I had to go, so he took it to a shop to have a "once over" before I got there to pick it up. I felt really confident that the truck would be trouble free, so I never even checked it out. Pretty stupid on my part, as I am a retired mechanic from a large construction company. Oh well it couldn't have worked out better as the truck ran a solid 80 MPH all the way thru Nevada and never had a hiccup the entire way home. I was so pleased with the bill and work, that I paid for my friends' 150,000 mile recommended service interval on his own GMC pickup. He just had it done and they recommended some other non essential repairs he may want to have done as time permits. I was a little skeptical being from out of state when I walked through the front door. After I described the problem, and Cody explained the steps to me in a methodical manner that would be taken to diagnose the problem, the skepticism disappeared, and the trust was very evident to me that the job was going to be done properly and thoroughly. After reading some of the reviews before I posted mine, all I can say is there is always a nimrod that won't ever be happy. I just can't believe Cody wouldn't have gone WAY out of his way to make things right, had he had a chance, or maybe the customer didn't give him a chance. Diesels can get very costly to repair, in a big hurry. I feel I got every bit of value I paid for, and the bill was a little less than he had quoted. Botom line..if you want quality work done and at a fair price go here first. Don't go elsewhere to get bent over and sold a bogus bill of goods, when you can get the work done right at Automotive Technical Services. What was initially a smooth process soon turned into the biggest headache and con job and hence the reason for this review. On July 31st I brought my Lexus IS250 to get new tires and rear brakes installed. The diagnostic and install timeline went fine, but the problems began when I arrived to pick it up. After paying for the services ($1124), I went out to the car and did a cursory look over before leaving. The first thing I noticed was something looking off with the back tires. The rear tires on an IS250 are larger than the front, and at first glance they looked suspiciously small. Sure enough, they were the wrong size. After bringing it to the attention of Mike (the part owner), he claims his database contained the wrong information but somehow pulled up the correct size when I was there. Unfortunately they did not have the correct sizes in stock so they referred me to another company. At this point, he offered to replace them but vehemently pushed back at the notion of a small discount on the total price as a token of goodwill because in his mind he was "already out money and can't use those tires". Never mind the fact that I just dropped over a grand on something that had I not caught would've caused some serious damage to my rear axles and that I would've have to replace myself. Their lack of customer service aside, I just wanted to get it fixed so I could get back to my family whom I was visiting from out of town. As I get into the driver's seat, I notice a large and ugly crack along the windshield that was definitely not there before. Upon closer inspection it turns out to be blunt trauma and most likely caused by them dropping a hoist chain or tools on it. They tried to blame it on the walled off and fenced construction going on next door but said they'd review their security footage and let me know. I continue to hound Mike for a resolution and finally after not returning my phone calls he admits fault and agrees to replace it. He tells me to call him by 10am the following morning (Saturday) because he was leaving town for a concert later and would set everything up. I told him because I was leaving town on Sunday, I absolutely needed this done on time. Of course, I leave two voice mails and call him a dozen times on Saturday morning to no avail, and never heard back from him. Because of this and my departure, I filed a dispute with AMEX to contest the charge on the premise of damaged goods. He lied to them and says his security footage doesn't show them damaging it, despite his admission initially. As a result, AMEX didn't reverse the charge. Not to mention, he went ahead and filed a mechanic's lien and threatened to have my car repossessed. (I spoke with my attorney and he advised me they had no legal standing since I paid for the services in full, they released my vehicle to me, and I never financed anything through them). In hindsight, I should've just filed a police report right then and there; but I am in the process of filing a complaint with the attorney general's There are plenty of good mechanics in Boise; there's no reason to pay top dollar for a mechanic that lacks in attention to detail and takes no responsibility when the going gets tough. After Les Schwab changed my tires they quoted me $650 to replace my front brakes, rotors, and (possibly) calipers. When in Boise I turn to this shop for all mechanical work since I discovered them last month. I immediately called Mike and gave him a heads up before dropping the car off. Mike and his gang were once again able to save my car, my time, and my wallet. I took my '98 Honda in because the oil light was coming on, despite being full. They diagnosed and fixed the issue (faulty pressure switch), and I was in and out the door in an hour and twenty minutes. The service I received was friendly, professional, and efficient. They took the time to not only double check that my oil pressures were ok, but to also explain to me what the acceptable ranges were and where my vehicle stood. I appreciate a shop that strives to inform me as a customer. It is not a fancy shop. It's modest. No fancy lobby, TV, vending machines, customer restrooms, etc. But they did have wifi so I could work while I waited. I had excellent service here! I was able to drop my car off before work and just pick it up once the work was completed. It was very easy to get ahold of them during the day for a check-in. Originally, the work was to be completed in the morning but due to Memorial Day weekend they were slammed!! My car got pushed back (front brake replacement) till the end of the day. Luckily I didn't need it for any appointments that day/made due. They understood that inconvenience and were able to give me an additional discount for the flexibility.
