Mike then helped inspect a VAN we were considering from a private owner to ensure it was a good safe vehicle for the price/milage vs price having more knowledge & experience than we do as previously I bought vehicles from dealerships but being disabled on fixed income I can't be stranded nor had money for any surprised repairs. This was so helpful to us to make sure we invested our money into a used van that will meet our needs for $6600. He gave us knowledge to handle this transaction with the title & checked so we were not scammed as we experienced looking for a used vehicle on CRAIGSLIST....that seller was lying that we caught them scared us because we are struggling it is SAD to almost be harmed that MIKE'S ASSISTANCE took away so much stress that is priceless when disabled, poor & suffering other issues. Being disabled & on limited income we needed someone to inspect the Jeep to know if it was safe to drive. Honesty is critical for vehicles when you are traveling on highways with your loved ones. We bought 5 vehicles during my marriage at 1 dealership where we experienced being lied to learning that dealership was telling us our jeep needed a new part that a second opinion told us that was not true. My neighbor told us of their mechanic being honest & not overcharging shared people were driving from other States to have him work on their vehicle. We learned their mechanic quit working for this same dealership but he was at their Madison Dealership shared with us he ethically & morally quit because this dealership owner was charging customers for repairs they did not need to keep money coming in to pay his payroll expenses validated our experience at this owner's second site scared us. While all other places either quoted me higher prices or were super busy for a car inspection, Don's price was reasonable as well as was flexible with timings. They gave a detailed report on the car and told me that the serpentine belt ($170) is wearing off and needs to be replaced soon. With this, I was able to bargain a better price before buying my current car. In fact, the serpentine belt broke less than two months of me buying the car as they predicted. I have been getting my oil change here every 3-4 months ever since. Mine is a 11 year old car with 220 k miles, so there are new issues that regularly pops up. They give me estimates for all the repairs, they also tell me which one is necessary for me to drive and which is not (like my car's rattling noise at times which I'm fine with). They also call me if they find new issues while they are working and ask for my decision before moving further. I'm grateful to them for always being honest and kind to me. I strongly recommend the place on the University Ave especially if you work close to the campus. I usually call them to see if I can drop my car off in the morning before going to work at UW and I pick my car back around 5 pm when I head back home. They then stated I needed all this other stuff. Cv joints, tie rod ends, gas lines, wheel differentials, tire rotation, alignment, e brake issue etc. I told them from the get go. Ok do it, but I need it by that Friday at noon at the latest. I was told no problem if any issues they would let me know. I called them that Friday as It was past noon and I had not heard anything from them. It was 7pm and still nothing. I went there to c what was going on. They told me they were doing there best but this is why they don't work on older cars. Excuse me you are an auto repair place this is all you work on. I looked at all the vehicles in the shop and mine is actually not as old as many they are working on. I would never take my new vehicles to them as they are always under warranty and they go to the dealership not an auto repair shop. I reiterated I was suppose to have it back by noon as I was suppose to be in the fields combining. The Mortenson guys says go the the field and combine you have another vehicle to use. Which no I did not. I had been given a ride to the shop because I had no other vehicle to use at the time. I then told them - this is the last time I would ever bring a vehicle to them. The owner Mortenson said that was fine. Leave and they might give me a call when it was done. I did receive a call but not until the following Monday after 2pm. I went in pd for all the services that I was told were going to b done. And, to my surprise all they did was put 1 lower tie rods in and fix my rear brakes. None of the other stuff was done. I ended up going to Pomps in Darlington to get all the other work done. So I paid $2300.00 to MOrtensons for one lower front end tie rods and break lines in the rear only. But, they billed me for way more then what work they actually did. In fact they charged me for $1800 in labor and only $400 something in parts and the rest was odds and ends. Pomps in Darlington and Oil Pros in Evansville Pomps told me exactly what Mortenson did and I showed them the bill I received from Mortensons. I was told I was raped. They totally took advantage of you. They said that if they were me they would go back and not leave until they did everything I paid for. I said NO, when I say I'm not going back somewhere I don't go back. So you have been warned. Do not go to Mortensen auto repair. Pomps and Oil Pros in Evansville are so much more efficient, customer friendly and they do not take advantage of a woman. I'm a farm girl so it really makes me boil.customers beware.

That gene must have skipped a generation, because all I can do is turn on the ignition, fill the car with gas and pop the hood for the mechanic. I break into hives if I need to go beyond those steps. So going to the shop to get the car serviced has always filled me with dread, which most mechanics capitalize on to pay for their kid's college education. Since I've started going to Village Mobil for my car maintenance, that is no longer the case. I always feel that they have my best interests in mind when they make service recommendations and they work with me to come up with the most cost-effective solution rather than push the repair that puts the most money in their pocket. The quality of their work is solid, I've never had to return to redo a repair. Their shop is clean and they share a building with a Milio's where I can wait for short repairs. They have free wi-fi and a current newspaper to cover my old and new school media needs. Just a couple of small negatives. * Because of their popularity, I often have to schedule an appointment a week out. * They don't have a loaner car for longer repairs. My young son bought his first car, all on his own, before going off to college this fall. They had had all the work on the car done at Village Mobile in Waunakee while they owned it. Before deciding to sell it they took it in to them again to get a full and thorough inspection. It was inspected and a list of all the issues found was created. This list was passed on to my son before he purchased it. In total, they noted $1,800 of things to be fixed. We proceeded to fix the majority of those things for a total of $550. That $1,800 is clearly a major rip off of the customer. When fixing the items they noted, we discovered there was a crack and two large rust holes in the rear subframe. Totally obvious to even a non car person with out taking anything apart. I called Village Mobile to ask them about this oversight to such a major issue with the vehicle. They said they did not feel they were responsible in any way. I assured them, I did not expect them to take care of the issue free of charge. I just asked that they consider seeing what could be done to help my son get the car fixed so it was safe to drive at a reasonable price. I asked that they have compassion and see if they could do what ever they could to keep the cost down for him given they had missed something that was such a safety issue. They called today with the quote to get it repaired and I was absolutely flabbergasted! With a used subframe, mind you, they quoted us $2,000 to fix it!!! As I said earlier, the original quote, after a supposedly thorough inspection was $1,800, to fix all of the cars issues. Now they are telling us it will be $2,000 to fix the issue they completely missed. I don't know about you, but I would not trust anyone in that business to look at, quote, or do any work on my vehicle. In my opinion, this is gross negligence and complete incompetence. Not to mention price gouging, no compassion, or self conscious. For reference, here is a picture of what they did not see upon inspection. This is unacceptable on so many levels. I hope everyone reading this will think twice about doing business with Village Mobile in Waunakee and you will spread the word far and wide that this is not a company you can trust with your business.
