A+ Japanese Auto Repair

I had a great first experience when I brought our Subaru Crosstrek and wanted to get my Nissan…read moreFrontier in for some preventive maintenance. Again I was helped by Sean and again it was a 5 star visit. The work was done in a timely manner, price was fair and customer service was excellent. We have three different Japanese vehicle brands in our family and I feel comfortable to have them all serviced at A+ Japanese Auto Repair! Thanks again Sean, I really appreciate the personal touch.

Came in to have Check Engine Light issue fixed so I could register the car…read more They did their diagnosis, got the error code identified, they replaced parts, I paid $1600 and picked up the car...only to have the check engine light come back on as soon as I started the engine. I was a little frustrated because they told me the problem was fixed. I immediately brought the back, had it re-diagnosed, and was later told there is another issue which would cost $700 (after a bit of a discount), and there could be more after that. It's an older car, but with relatively low mileage for its age (20 year old Lexus sedan with 105k miles). At least this time I was told there are potentially other underlying issues, which could be cost prohibitive. After this second round of repairs, I was told they'd have to partially take apart the engine because "it could be..." I didn't want to continue this process if they weren't even sure what the problem is and I would have to pay them more so they could "maybe find" what is causing the check engine light. They seemed to be more diligent this second time, and took a little more care to see if the check engine light issue was fully resolved. Good on them for their second effort. I wish they could have done a more thorough check the first time instead of it seeming so exploratory. Maybe that's how the problem had to be discovered, but it felt like it was more process of elimination than a targeted solution. I can disconnect and reconnect my battery and get the same results of the check engine light off for a few days. I took the car back now $2400 lighter in the pocket, unclear if the two parts they replaced may have still been functioning, and with my check engine light still on. I feel it was a misdiagnosis of the problem initially. If they properly diagnosed the problem, my decision making would have been different. Instead, I feel as if I got strung along for two payments if I wanted to have my car back that I still can't register.

Stress-Free Auto Care

Stress-Free Auto Care

Stress free is FAR from what just happened to me. Your company caused me stress if anything…read more I made an appt online and received a confirmation. I arrived a few mins early for my 1pm appt today.. and then I was told that they could not complete my service because there was not enough time. Please tell me why I received a confirmation for my appt if this could not be done TODAY? Or if you knew ahead of time that it could NOT be possible, why did I not receive a call sometime BEFORE my appt? Their way of fixing the problem was to "accommodate me" by offering me a time tomorrow (a weekday). That sounds like you're accommodating yourself more so than me. That's convenient for YOU. There are people who can only get these kind of services done on the weekend, me included. Then they offered me their branch in Redwood City, but provided me with a Jiffylube address just to get me out the door. But wait.. TO TOP IT OFF, they offered me a "discount" the next time I could come in. The price they offered me was more than; if not the same price I would have paid TODAY for the service. How is that a "discount"? After respectfully trying to see what they could possibly offer to make this situation right...in every single aspect, this was accommodating YOUR COMPANY and NOT me, the customer. Why would I come back? To get denied for another service? I am totally taken back today with this situation. I really hope you put this into consideration for your company. Especially if your Yelp staff is encouraging your customers to book their appts online for a "discount". This seems to causing people stress..and being you are the "stress-free auto care", this far from the case.

I hadn't needed to come for a while after switching cars but recently brought my Rivian to get the tire patched - they were super fast! They explained that there would be an extra labor charge for lifting up the Rivian, and what I could buy to have on hand to avoid the extra labor if there's ever another case where a shop doesn't already have it. I really appreciate getting emails and texts with pictures and updates!
