My primary mechanic suggested Lafayette Auto Supply for last minute and urgently needed parts. The…read morestaff were friendly and looked up exactly what I needed. LAS had more stock than the other two parts stores I contacted. The front counter had several staff working the phones, the computer, and thumbing through catalogs. I had the guy at the counter test my battery and he came out and tested the battery in my car and…read moretold me my battery was bad and needed a new one, it is a 48 month battery and it has been roughly 4 years so I trusted this guy knew how to read a volt meter and went home pulled my battery out which is a little more involved then just undoing the connections and found a replacement at another parts store and took my battery in for a core charge but had them check it to verify it was bad, it tested good, they said it was weak but still good enough, so since I have gotten two different results I figured I would get a third opinion to be sure, the third place said it tested good no problems, so thanks to the incompetence if the counter guy here at O'Reillys I wasted over a hour of my time for absolutely nothing, there is no compensation for time, so I will never go to O'Reillys again and would never recommend this place to anyone, i would tell anyone that asks to go somewhere else simply because if they can't train there help to do something as simple as testing a battery how can you trust that they can find the right part or recommend any product, this place should be looked at by corporate.

The service depends on the person you're talking to behind the counter. I talked to one person and…read morehe was stellar when it came to identifying parts and providing service. I talked to another who couldn't identify the proper part, was looking at a part I wasn't asking for telling me he didn't have it in stock. I'll later found out his background was in a construction field but yet he was passing himself off as a car guy. The service is only as good as the intelligence level of the person you're dealing with. Advance Auto does not have the best computer system that makes it a little difficult for someone who's not well versed in the field. Some of the counter people are not. I don't think advanced is helping the kind of people that they're hiring with the computer system they have.
