Let's be real here, anything DMV related instantly is on the "I-hate-this list". Who in their right mind wants or even enjoys getting their emissions checked for the DMV? No One! That said, this place eased the pain of having to get my car emissions checked. It was a little difficult to find (there are about a dozen auto-related places in the shopping center it's in) but after careful scrutiny of each shop's name, I found it. There was no one in the shop except for the technician who was friendly and took care of my car very quickly. The office is pretty small but the chairs are comfortable enough for the ~30 minute wait. My total cost was $47. No sticker shock there since their pricing schedule for their routine services was plainly displayed on the office wall. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. Just sit back and take some time to relax and get some of that DMV stress off of your shoulders! read more

My car was in need of a smog check and I came to Auto stop smog and repair Joseph helped me promptly and was very friendly. Initially my check engine light was on and he cleared my cpu for me for free which was shocking knowing a lot of places try to charge for that. I came back a few days later once the cpu info cleared out and again Joseph got me in asap and ran the smog and I was in and out within about 10 mins. I went in for my first smog check, keep in mind my car is a 2013 Toyota. Still trying to understand how someone can take it upon themselves to do something to your car after you said you didn't want it done. I went in for a smog check and was told there was an issue with wiring to get me to pay extra. I told him I didn't want him to do it and that I would leave and go somewhere else. Charged an entire extra $45 for the wiring I told him not to touch and when I finally paid just so I can leave because of how ridiculous my whole experience was, my car would not turn on!!!!! My car was perfectly fine and at this point he realized he messed something up. All of this for a smog check??? read more

This place likes to pull SCAMS on people who don't know any better. Took my 99 Jeep in on Friday, it didn't pass. Charged $44. Told I needed to drive an additional 100 miles before coming back. In order to re-smog they charge an "um, re-smog fee of $35." When I called to inquire the reasoning, they couldn't come up with a legitimate excuse for why they charge almost the same amount as the initial check. If you want to get your car or truck smoged at a reliable joint I suggest you check out Woodcrest Smog & Test 18451 Van Buren Blvd Riverside, CA 92508. I came for a smog check with hopes that I would receive 5-star excellent service since Yelp has them at 5 stars. I rang the bell at the desk, saw three or four guys in the garage (and they saw me) and waited. I waited some more. I stood there for 10 minutes and no one came to acknowledge my presence or even tell me, "We'll be right with you." So I left. And based on my full 10 minute experience with them, I give them a flat ZERO rating because that was my experience with them. I got nothing. I left and went to JoJo's smog check. Acknowledged and done in 15 mins. 5-star for Jojo, NO STAR for auto stop smog & repair!!! read more

Friendly staff, but that's about it. I was told my vehicle would be on the dyno for a smog test in 20 minutes, so I left the keys and went to lunch. 50 minutes later, it hadn't been moved from the space I parked it in. There was an appointment ahead of me that somehow escaped her recollection. 1.5 hours in, my vehicle failed hydrocarbons by 3 PPM. Just 3. They offered no clear diagnosis or guess as to why it failed, and what would be required to pass.I watched them pull the car into the bay after it sat for over an hour and cooled down, and there is no way they ran it long enough to even bring it up to normal operating temp before they began the inspection. They also did not check drive tires for proper inflation. (Important when checking emissions on a dyno) They hurried the job, and began the test before the vehicle was ready, and charged me $45. Sorry, better luck next time. The technician rattled off half a dozen "It could be's" and I was informed that in order to determine why it failed, by 3 parts per million, I would have to pay a $75 diagnostic fee, PLUS the full cost of another test. I won't be going back there for anything. As much as the signs and posters hanging on the walls suggest they're all about honesty and genuine interest in service, they're really about expedience and dollars. read more

This place has absolutely no customer service. I walked in and the two employees just stared at me blankly until I told them what I needed. After I returned to pick up my car, they told me that they had mistakenly given my registration form to the previous customer and offered no apology. So they called the previous customer and asked him to return it. Finally after waiting awhile I got it back. I would not recommend this place. read more

My New Smog Check Station :) Very pleased. I have to say that over the years I have "scammed" a couple of times at other smog check stations. One place in Corona - the 'check engine light' was on and the technician went ahead and ran the test, knowing full well that it was going to fail. On another car, I had just replaced the battery and went to get it tested - another fail because the car had not been driven enough for the onboard computer. I took my 2002 S10 in for a required "STAR" test and before hand I had replaced one of the O2 sensors. I thought I had put enough miles on it to make the computer happy but when 'Joe' started the test, he told me that it was not going to pass. Joe went out of his way for me and did not charge me. Of course a week or two later I went back to get retested and it passed with flying colors In my opinion - very honest mechanic and the price was one of the lowest I found. There are also a couple of places nearby where you can get a bite to eat if you want to while you wait - Farmer's Boys and Alberto's Keep up the good work Joe, I will be back (ps - they don't accept AmEx Cards) read more
