Purchased their so called deal for a remote starter on living social (they have the same deal on Groupon) for $150. The fine print says you will be charged an additional $150 for certain models and possible $50 for locks. I was expecting to be charged the $150 due to my car having an alarm but I was surprised to also be charged the $50 with no explanation as to why.
This was only the beginning. I dropped my car off with both sets of keys and when I picked it up I didn't realize until I got home that they only gave me back one key. When I called they said the key was under the steering column in a black box. After searching and not being able to find a black box a decided to take my car back and have them show me the box. The guy reluctantly has me bring my car in the garage and to my surprise he had to tear apart the under portion of the steering column just to be able to see a portion of this box that was buried behind the steering wheel.
I then ask him to get the key for me and he says THE REMOTE STARTER WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE KEY INSIDE THIS BOX!! When I explained to him that my wife and I trade off cars during the week and we need that second key his response was that we can take the key out of the box during the summer and put it back in during the winter.
Also, the key fob they provided was not programed to work with our alarm system (cant arm and disarm it) so I'm not sure why I was charged the extra $150. So, after all is said and done I paid $360 for a remote starter that only has a range of around 30 yards with direct line of site, be down to only having one key between my wife and I, and have a car alarm that is now useless. read more
