I strongly advise avoiding this dealership at all costs. My experience was nothing short of appalling. They seem to have little to no understanding of customer satisfaction and appear to thrive on selling cars with preexisting issues. When you contact them to address these problems, it becomes clear that their true intent is to profit from your misfortune. They are well-versed in their legal rights and clearly know how to exploit them, walking the fine line of what they can get away with. Promises made during the sale quickly turn out to be empty, leaving you feeling deceived and powerless. The behavior of the individuals I dealt with, specifically H**di and Jo*, was deeply unprofessional and outright disrespectful. Instead of addressing concerns, they resorted to projecting their insecurities onto me as a customer--calling themselves "pieces of sh*t," hanging up mid-conversation, and even handing the phone to other "customers" to insult me. There's also a potential violation of two-party consent laws, as they may have recorded conversations without my knowledge or agreement. They later attempted to use these recordings as a form of intimidation, which is completely unacceptable. (The last statement is alleged, but I do know that they decided to let to me know, mid-conversation, that they are recording our conversation. And you think this is an internal system....it's not. It was done on a personal cell phone). This business epitomizes every negative stereotype about "used car salesmen." If there were a negative star rating, this dealership would deserve it. They prey on customers, overcharge for their products, and deliver some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and financial loss. I accompanied my daughter and her fiance to help him buy his first car. The manager was less than helpful and actually quite rude when she found out that he was going to need financing which he was going to get on his own. He asked to test drive a car and was told it would be a half hour wait. After an hour he still was waiting. At that point I asked to make an appointment for another day and the manager asked me if I was going to buy the car with him. I am not sure why that has any bearing on being able to make an appointment. I had bought a car at this dealership before and had a very pleasant experience but I worked with a gentlemen who was much more professional. This recent experience was very disappointing. read more

Purchased vehicle that was allegedly driven by the sales agent Heidi prior to me buying the car. I have reached out with constant communication asking for help in obtaining the title as well as returning the vehicle. Vehicle is estimated at over $5,000 in repairs for the first phase of work. I find this to be insane and a scam. I have over 25 emails asking for help and only am invited to "their discounted mechanic" to get an estimate. The car has leaked oil all over my driveway causing damage and will not run. The right thing to do is take the car back in good faith. Selling a car "as-is" to a single person who was completely transparent with you on financial resources was a shame. Heidi assured me the vehicle "had no problems, she drove it." The vehicle undercarriage is completely destroyed. It leaks fluids, I am not believing that this car was driven anywhere. I have forwarded a full diagnostic report on this vehicle that I paid for and will gladly update this review upon solution and full refund. At this time Buyer Beware. This vehicle drove, until it didn't and I have now spent money towing it. So far no apologies or offers other than I can pay for work at their mechanic. The repairs are almost equal to the cost of the car! Disgusted and disappointed as I sat in Heidi's office for quite some time talking explaining to her that this vehicle was needed after a major car accident I was in. I asked Heidi to only sell me a trust worthy and safe vehicle....she looked me in the face and said the vehicle has no issues. Buyer beware! Update 10-6-22 Power steering fluid leak, gas line/carbon filter, dual headlight replacement with dual gasket replacements. Power windows and transmission repair. If I could give 0 stars I would. My mom recently bought a vehicle from this dealership and paid the full amount in cash. She was not given a title when she left with the vehicle 2 months ago. She's gone to Heidi, the manager, several times in an effort to get ahold of the title that she is entitled to. Heidi has been extremely rude to her, hanging up the phone, blatantly refusing to help, and even going so far as to change the business phone number in an effort to avoid speaking to my mom. We finally had to go in to the dealership in person to get this situation resolved since Heidi has been less than helpful on the phone. We spoke to Joe and while he's a lot nicer than Heidi, he clearly has no backbone at this dealership and it's obvious that he's scared of her. He asked Heidi to update the address on my moms paperwork and she refused. At that point I brought out my phone and started recording the interaction because I was afraid Heidi would become physically aggressive. Even after all of that, my mom STILL doesn't have her title and neither Joe or Heidi were able to give her any insight on how long she'll continue to wait. How Heidi has managed to last a day at this dealership is beyond me. None of our family or friends will do business with this dealership ever again. read more

This dealership is a JOKE! Heidi is the most unprofessional person I've encountered in a while. She was blatantly disrespectful to my mother in law over a mistake that SHE made and refuses to take ownership for. My MIL has been without her title for 2 months now (even though she paid for her vehicle in full cash 2 months ago) and Heidi has consistently refused to help her. She has hung up the phone on her countless times so we finally went into the dealership to sort out the situation. We waited in the waiting room for about 10 seconds before we heard her yelling at my MIL. We then entered the room to see what was going on and she demanded that we leave and when my MIL asked to speak with Joe she tried to refuse. Thankfully my MIL stood her ground and she was able to speak with him, however, although he was nicer, he was no more helpful than Heidi was. We left with headaches and STILL NO TITLE. We will be going out of our way to tell our friends and family to avoid this place at all cost. Unfortunately, it's just another stereo typical used cars place. We bought a car from Joe the owner. He was supposed to get the airbag light fixed. When we showed up to pick it up it was not fixed. He then said to call back in a week and he get the part we could come back and get it fixed. A week later he still didn't have it and they asked if we could call back in another week. He obviously didn't. Two weeks later the alternator died and we had to have the car towed in to get fixed. We've never heard back from Joe so obviously the park never showed up. Unfortunately just another sales guy who doesn't follow up on what he promises. We will not be buying anything more from him. read more

This is so unfortunate to write because I thought this was going to become a great and memorable time for my niece. So, someone I trusted from another car business began to work at Auto Outpost North. So, I trust his input and advice. Many times, I have stopped at this sales lot interested in buying a car, but, for other reasons bought elsewhere. My impression was that the owner, "Joe", and his business was that he is a rock star in the McHenry area; many folks bought from this dealer. Seems that cars flew out of there very quickly. Anyway, my niece just got her license this year. Up to the time she purchased her first car, she drove her folks crazy with her busy lifestyle as she borrowed the 2nd family vehicle almost daily between school work and play. Well, her big birthday came and her father and grandpa decided to pitch in and help her buy her first car! So exciting for all of the family as well. One Friday, I was driving by Auto Post North as its in my neighborhood, and I saw this beautiful lemon yellow VW Beetle! Wow, I thought, my niece would love this car. So, I mentioned it to the grandpa. So he and grandma drove by after church and took a gander at this car and they felt the same as I did that my niece would love this car as her first car. My family made a date and we all went to check it out. It was a family affair, kinda like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" where the whole family shows up at the granddaughters College orientation! Its cultural, you see. Anyway, she and her dad took the car for a drive around the neighborhood. She liked the car so much, but, kinda thought, I best not get too attached if something was not working out with a potential buy. My brother works on cars and so he and my father, although not experts, they "get" the basics well. My brother caught a thing or two and the trusted sales guy helped them figure it all through to get peace about it all. He said to the family that they would see to it that they would make sure those few things were corrected and fixed. While they were talking to the sales guy, Joe came up to me and chatted about that car. He was telling me that if my niece purchases this vehicle, she will be a rock-star! Everyone will want to get to know her. "It's a great car. The car is in great shape for its age...great price!" Joe said. The trusted sales guy went to Joe and said, "I am concerned that the father and grandfather want a discount on the price and I know you don't want to do that." Joe said right, "It's already a great price." He was going on and on how this car is a great deal, a great car, only one owner! We looked up the year of the car and the condition, etc., to find out what other dealers are selling this year with the same mileage and it seemed that Joe was in the ballpark, but, it was a bit pricey, like about $600.00 or more pricier. But, my niece loved the car. Yet, my brother was concerned about the price being too high for the year and for those few concerns. OK, this is where it became interesting. They bought the car, to my own personal amazement. Personally, I've learned that one should get a car after having it out thoroughly checked out by a pro. They did not do this. Joe and the sales guy said they had it checked over, replaced the basics. It just struck me as a bit risky to get this car on the same day without assurance in getting it looked at by a professional. Well, the car was detained in going back with my niece that night as Joe in his business promised to fix the issues that they've found. There was a clicking sound or something that was apparently an easy fix. They also were to clean the interior. So, my brother and niece were to pick it up her car in a few days from purchase. The car was bought in the beginning of June in 2018 and to say this in a nutshell, my brother and niece, after numerous phone calls and shotty broken promises and nearly a grand more of money and lost time, my niece just picked up her car a week ago, mid August 2018. They played tennis with her car from mechanic to mechanic. My brother paid his mechanic $500.00 then Joe's choice mechanic that he insisted my brother would use as he said he's pay half the repair cost if he use the other mechanic, over a hour and a half from their home. The situation went from bad to worse. My family went through much anger and sadness for my brother and for my niece that her first car experience was one to remember all right...as one of the worst and most expensive purchases and stressful interactions with a business ever! Not to mention that this was my niece's first big purchase with her own money that she saved for years. The owner Joe's mechanic did not fix our car the first week or more and then went on vacation as my niece resumed using the 2nd family car again for the two months. Heidi the manager is extremely rude and will roll her eyes and give you attitude for asking questions. She will also wait until the last legal day to hold onto your title if you call her out on it. Joe the owner on the other hand it very nice and will work with you. Unfortunately Heidi deals with the final sale so stay away unless you want to deal with her. She is possibly racist, because she was friendly and chatty with the white people ahead of us and when it was our turn she immediately got an attitude and was trying to rush us out the door. Not good considering we were sold on the car and just needed to get the check. If it wasn't for Joe stepping in we would have walked out. Joe even admitted to us when we walked out the door with the keys the next day that he stepped in because he heard her being rude. 10/10 would not recommend anyone buying from her. Please save yourself the nightmare and do not purchase a vehicle from Auto Outpost - North. They do not inspect their vehicles before they sell them. The vehicles they have on their lot are of very poor quality. They will simply get their vehicles to a driveable condition and any problem that arises will be yours. In short, it is more than worth it to go to a reputable dealer and spend the extra money to have a quality vehicle than to try and get a bargain from a side-of-the-road lot. I was an idiot to purchase a vehicle from them and one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I paid upwards of $2000+ in additional repairs which include replacing the transfer case twice, replacing the front differential, transmission cooler lines, CV joints, E-Brake, and drive shaft. And the more I drive it, more repairs have to be made in spite of me purchasing a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 83,000 miles. I had requested that they help to repair the transfer case both times. The first time I put up about $1300 to replace the transfer case, diff, drive shaft, cooler lines, and e-brake. I had them sign a 90-day warranty for the parts. A month or so later the transfer case was making a grind and thud whenever it was placed into drive... again. I brought it in as they had used the incorrect fluid in the transfer case. I also wanted them to take a look at the howling differential. This time they rebuilt the transfer case but at another $350 and forcing me to sign a form saying that I had to void the warranty prematurely and wouldn't bother looking at the front differential. When I had gotten the vehicle back the grind and thud when the vehicle was placed into drive and the howling from the front under load was still there. Nothing was fixed but at that point there was nothing I could do. The more I look at it, the more is revealed that this car was in an accident in spite of the "clean" Carfax. The radio is not original judging from the different radio IDs from stock. The windshield is delaminating and leaking. The body lines are not uniform (the lines go from wide to narrow indicating an out of alignment replacement or bent body. It's been a learning lesson on what to look out for but a very hard lesson to swallow. Please, don't get yourself into my position. Do your research and avoid this place at all cost. read more

I purchased my 2005 Volvo XC 90 from the Auto Outpost North and I would recommend them to anyone in the market for a new, used car. I dealt with Brad directly as my salesman and he was absolutely fabulous, down to earth and honest! It's so hard to find an honest and trustworthy used car dealership, but I can truthfully say I trusted them. In the end, the process was incredibly fast and completely stress free. I drove my car off the lot in less then 24 hours and Brad make sure all my concerns were talked through and taken care of. I bought 2005 Chevy Tahoe after having a complete inspection done, it requires 2085.00 in repairs. 1, transmission lines leak fluid. 2, engine light cause catalytic converter needs replaced with the 02 censors as well. Drove great and looked great when I got it but sure enough over the span of the first year owning it problem after problem popped up starting right away when the right side tie rod kept popping off. Lies, Lies, and more Lies from these guys. On May 27th 2016 we purchased a vehicle (2004 Dodge Ram 1500, from Auto Outpost North dealership. After purchasing the vehicle the check engine light went on within 1 week of purchase (which was an issue prior to sale and discussed with both Joe Perlin, and the salesman Brad Wilcox), and was diagnosed on June 7th by (3) automotive shops to be a serious transmission issue. On June 7th in the afternoon, we brought this issue up with President Joe Perlin personally at Auto Outpost North dealership. Joe Perlin acted as if he did not even know what error codes are when your check engine light goes on. And after a conversation with Joe Perlin, he settled on arranging a tow the truck to his repair shop for this vehicle. Since that day, we have not heard from Joe Perlin in any way, shape, or form. Joe Perlin basically abandoned us with a vehicle that could not be driven for weeks waiting on a repair after selling it to us. Having said that, the vehicle was rendered inoperable due to being in a (limp) mode state. Since Joe Perlin was incapable of dealing with the issue, we were forced to get the vehicle repaired on our own. Having had a prior conversation with Joe Perlins salesman Brad pre-sale about this issue, we were assured that the problem would be fixed, and we were led to believe and guaranteed. We also were assured that the issue was in-fact addressed and taken care of. Laudatory statements were also made in the presence of witnesses as to the nature of this, and other issues before the sale that oblige Joe Perlin and his dealership responsibility in these matters. Because of the statements about the truck Joe Perlin sold by his salesman Brad and Joe Perlin himself, we relied on those statements as part of deciding whether to purchase the truck, and constitute an express warranty that Joe Perlin the dealer breached. STAY away from these guys, look up the review online, there seems to be a pattern, use your head! read more

Just know that if you deal with these people you're not getting a quality used vehicle, read others reviews online with care. Amazing what you find on the internet.This is a small dealership that does not care about customer complaints, that arise when sold vehicle start to crap out. They fall back on the As is warranty making it your problem when the vehicle is dead in your driveway or on the side of the road, citing that you as the buyer were responsible for the vehicle condition before you purchased it which is a joke. All the time taking your money and smiling at you with the stupid look on their face like they don't even understand how vehicles work. Do yourself a favor spend a little bit more time and find a more reputable car dealership that wants your business more than once. And in reading all the reviews online with the chronic pattern of car issues it seems like they don't even care that they sold you a vehicle that's going to crap out less than a week after purchase. These people are the exact reincarnation of the "stab-you-in-the-back" vile conniving car dealership stereotype. We've had issues with the car we purchased from them the very moment it was driven off the lot. To save time writing the extensive back-and-forth we've had to do and the sketchy agreements made by these "professionals," I will just say that buying this car was the worst decision possible and a great mistake. They claimed to have fixed the numerous expensive issues we've come across but upon getting a second opinion from a certified mechanic, they put in lousy aftermarket incompatible parts, horrible workmanship, the wrong fluid, and we've had to fix the same issues multiple times on separate occasions. Right now, we still owe about 10,000 on the car, and just found out that this car needs a whole new transmission on top of the thousands of dollars we've already spent on repairs, replacement parts, and labor. This is after we've babied the damn thing knowing how issue prone it is. I wish we could say this was just a bad lemon but from reading other reviews it appears there is a pattern. We are incapable of shelling out more money for this seemingly doomed vehicle, and just want other people to be aware that these people aren't to be trusted and to shop elsewhere for a vehicle. These people only care about making money, and will phrase things to make you feel like you are getting a great deal and that they are doing you a "favor" by looking into an issue you may have. Also, as I was sitting in the lobby waiting for estimates, I could hear Joe and another employee talking ill of us and making rude remarks about us, completely disrespectful and unprofessional.
