A head gasket job failed after a year; cheap gasket, poorly installed....and charged us AGAIN to fix it. Very poor communication; instead of returning my call, they called my husband (who was out of town, which is why I left MY number). If you are female, it seems, they take advantage. Car will sit in their lot for a week before touching it, even after they say they'll open it up 'tomorrow'. When getting some other opinions from 3 other mechanics, they ALL confirmed they had heard terrible things about their work. Completely incompetent, cheap parts used, bolts left out, reservoirs mounted sideways so you couldn't get to cap, let alone fill it. Filing complaint with BBB.

For the last 18 months, I have been fortunate to have Garrett come service both our cars. And it's not just about getting an oil change with high-quality synthetic motor oil. He checks all the levels, looks for wear and tear and even replaced an old belt that was about to go. We've driven across the desert and up through the Sierras, and I had not an ounce of concern that the car was not fully prepared for the trip. Thanks, Garrett!

Frustrating experience with Jo Anne May. I paid $110 (plus a $20 tip, so $130 total) for what I…read morebelieved was the Diamond premium wash and hand wax. When I looked at my ticket, I could see that "Diamond" had originally been written down and then scratched out, with "Chief Peak" circled instead - a service that runs around $40. I have a photo of the ticket showing exactly that. I asked the attendant, who I always confirm the service with, whether I had gotten the Diamond. He said no, this was the same wash I always get. When I brought the discrepancy to Jo Anne, she seemed to coach the attendant into saying I got what I paid for, which wasn't true. The interior wasn't even properly cleaned- crumbs and debris still in the center console tray, visible dust and specks on the seats and between the seats (photos attached). The exterior looked no different than it would have after a $40 Chief Peak. I spent about ten minutes trying to sort it out and got nowhere. An hour and a half wait, $130 out the door, for a 30-minute, $40-level service. Really frustrating . I won't be back, and I wish there were more car wash options in town.

There are other places in Ojai, and it feels like this place has started slapping on a convenience fee because they know there aren't many options in town. The last work they did on our car was shoddy. They don't stand by their work and just make excuses rather than take accountability. Instead of taking our vehicle back, we took it down to Ventura. We ended up with a great mechanic, and we will now move all our vehicles down there for work. The problem we took our car to this place for wasn't actually fixed, which is why we ended up with issues not long after.

We arrived at about 4:30pm (shop closes at 5pm). They advised we needed a new radiator. They scheduled us for first am the next morning. They patched us up so we could drive to a nearby hotel (walking distance). They made recommendations for hotels and restaurants. We were able to drop the vehicle off first thing in the morning. We walked back to the hotel until check out. There was a dog park about 3-4 blocks from the shop... and a starbucks. They had us back on the road that afternoon. While it's quite easy to get frustrated because of the unexpected cost of a repair and a hotel, they were great. The crew kept us updated on the timeline. Their fee's are in-line with what shops charge. They did not price gouge. When you are at the mercy of car repairs it is a fear. The team at SB T/S were professional and worked hard to get us back on the road. We are grateful.
