Goodfelo's gave us a quote of $75-$150 for the diagnostic fee which seemed reasonable compared to others. We had the check engine light on and also the TRAC off light on, they charged us $75 for our diagnostic fee. They started work on Monday and we had the car by Tuesday morning. They replaced a coil that went bad and our spark plugs which weren't causing the problem but they said they were very old and recommended it. I like that they ask you first what services you want them to perform before they just do it. Our total for diagnosis, the coil and the spark plugs was $600.

I explained that I relied on their system's fitment recommendation, not guesswork, but his attitude only worsened. He told me he would order the correct tires, yet I received no updates the entire day. When I tried calling the store that evening, the phone rang endlessly with no answer. The listed business hours online appear to be inaccurate. The next day, after more than 24 hours with no communication, I called again and still received no update. When I asked when I could expect one, he became argumentative. I admit I was frustrated at that point, I admittedly lost my temper and cursed at Holland. He then hung up the phone on me. I drove up to the store with my wife, but instead of de-escalating as a professional should, he escalated the situation, matched my energy, pointed his finger at my wife, and threatened to have me trespassed from the property. For context, I have spent 36 years in aviation maintenance and over a decade in corporate customer service. I would never speak to a customer the way I was spoken to. Regardless of frustration on either side, professionalism should never be abandoned. This is also not my first issue with this location. On previous visits for tire rotations, both my vehicle and my daughter's vehicle developed slow leaks shortly afterward that required multiple return visits to address. I've used Royal One 4 times now and should have written a review before now (sorry Rick!) but just didn't think about it. This last time I was at Sami's picking up my car after a minor repair when he mentioned my tire was not holding air and I should run by Royal One on the way home. I did... and it was good I did, as the tire was cut slightly on the side (old tire) and wan't holding air for more than a few minutes... I would not have made it home. It was only a few minutes before closing (they were actually closing the door when I pulled in) but Rick and the guys jumped in and, when they figured out the tire was not fixable, they just LOANED me a used tire until mine came in. They had me back on the road in just 15 minutes and I went back a few days later to get my new tires put on. They gave me a slight discount plus didn't charge me for the trouble they went to to loan me the used tire. They always offer GREAT SERVICE and are a FAMILY OWNED business... so if you like to "buy local" and keep your money in the community (instead of having the profits shipped out to the headquarters of some national chain), then you really should use Royal One.

We came back after exactly an hour and the car still hadn't been moved. We ended up having to wait another 35 minutes before we got the car back. They told me they would do an alignment check as well which was never done. I had a similar experience with this shop when I purchased the tires 6 months ago. I was happy with the price I got the tires for, but the service was slow. Last time, they took over 90 minutes longer than the promised time. I get it. Sometimes things get busy...but I have given them two chances now and both times I was disappointed. Don't plan on getting anything done quick here. If you are dropping off, then it may be fine. But if you are needing something done and don't have the ability to drop-off, plan for a good chunk of your day to be consumed and don't trust the given timelines. Hopefully they can improve the accuracy of their time estimates or better prioritize their customers to ensure better customer service.
