Dandy Randy overcharged me and did damage to my transmission as my truck had no transmission when I took it there and left it for installation of a new clutch. When I got it back, I had transmission troubles. This was in 2004. Maybe some folks found them to be honest, but I certainly did not! read more

I've been taking my cars to this Tibbitts for more than twenty years. Randy, Robert, Lisa, Andrea are the best. Recently I had another repair shop give me a quote for a very expensive brake job that was urgently needed. I came to Tibbitts for a second opinion and am glad I did. Randy and Robert were able to explain what was going on with my breaks, and that the work will need to be done but was not as dangerously urgent as I was being lead to believe. I have an older (high end) car that I've owned for years. I took it to this place for a free evaluation "check up" to make sure it was safe for long trips. I didn't have any previous noticeable problems. They make you sit in an area where you can't see what they're doing during the process which made me uncomfortable. It took them almost 2 hours to check it out and they gave me a 4 page estimate of items that needed repair which amounted to more than the car was worth. However, when I drove the car away, I noticed the engine sounded louder than it did before coming in. With a little research, I found the probable cause is the Catalytic converter is bad. I'm not accusing them, and I can't prove anything, but, pretty coincidental that I now have a new problem I didn't have before. I wouldn't trust this place! read more

SCAMMERS!!!! My son took his car to Tibbitts to check the battery. After they said they'd "run an electrical systems check" it needed a new one. But Tibbits said it suddenly needed a new cooling fan for $1750. My son declined the service and drove the car off. Immediately the car started over-heating. Never overheated before they worked on the car. STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

This Tibbitts location if filled with really good hard working people just like you and I. Last week was the second time this team has worked on my car. This time i was stranded at work when my starter went out. Tibbitts towed my car and finishes the work in about 3 hours allowing me to pick up my car right after work. My daughter's driver side window quit working. I called and arranged a time to bring her car in. We were greeted with friendly and helpful staff. They were extremely professional and did everything they said they would. No additional charges. No monkey business. Took in my daughters Toyota to get the alternator repaired. They did a really good job and timely too. They offered me a military discount which was very nice and they didn't have to. I worked with Randy, very nice guy and helpful. The parts seem to be a little high in $$$$ considering they got the jobber cost. However their labor rate is very reasonable. SCAMMERS. Have gotten my engine mount replaced here multiple times within a few years because of a noise my car makes, along with other hundreds of dollars of repairs that they insist I need (given I know very little about cars). Once taken my business to a family-friend mechanic I've found that all the repairs I've had done here were not legitimate as my car makes the same noise and engine mounts need to be replaced every 10 years. Randy was great, I called him out of the blue, my daughter's Escape needed a regulator for a window. He concurred that was probably the problem but warned it could be more - he just wanted to inform me. I schedule a time for the Escape to be dropped off and Randy had the part ready to install. It was not more than the regulator so that was good. If your child attends UCF - and you live out of town (as I do) - you can trust Randy and Tibbitts to take good care of your student. read more

Very trustworthy place! I have very limited knowledge about cars and car parts so I have questioned the dealership and other mechanics in the past, but the service here was honest and positive. I have had my car towed using this company and more recently they installed a part on my car. Prior to having the part installed, I was able to e-mail with someone who got back to me immediately and provided me with advice and assistance before even coming in. When I went to have my side mirror glass popped in, Randy was able to do it in a few minutes and was willing to troubleshoot. read more

Crooks and thieves. My son wrecked his motorcycle. (thankfully he was not hurt!) Neither the tow truck driver, nor the State Trooper thought it necessary to ask him if he wanted it towed HOME, or if he would prefer it to be impounded. I arrived to pick up the bike and bring it home to find it had already been hooked to a chain, dragged across the pavement, though the grass, and up onto the flatbed. The motorcycle only suffered a glancing blow to the car in front of it and aside from cosmetic damage, was still operable. That is, until the tow truck driver destroyed it by the dragging and strapping it down to the truck still laying on its side. The driver refused to remove it from the truck and wouldn't hear of taking it home. No, it was going to their impound yard where my son is now expected to pay $125 "hookup fee" for the privilege of having the driver destroy his motorcycle, and a $25 per day "storage fee". The accident happened just a couple of days before he was to start his new job, so he didn't have the money to get it out right away. (I would have gladly helped him pay to recover it if I were able to.) He received a letter from them stating that they were going to sell HIS property and any monies collected beyond the fees owed will be given as a kickback to the city. Oh, and he is still responsible for paying said fees even after they've stolen his property and sold it for a profit. This company is run by the worst kind of human parasites who prey on people who are at their weakest. They provide a service only for themselves and clearly have absolutely no moral compass whatsoever. All I can say is, they will never see a single dime from this family and karma is a bitch. I really hope they end up in bankruptcy and get the shaft that they've been giving to others. read more

This place is a joke! My car was disabled due to an accident therefore it had to be towed. I had to release it to my insurance company and needed to fax a letter over to release it, which was expected. The lady there is extremely rude and disrespectful, she kept giving us problems even after we did everything she asked. It seemed like she just wanted to keep the car in their facility for longer so they could charge my insurance company more. This lady should not be working here, she has no customer service skills. If I could give this place no stars I would, extremely rude personnel. Management needs to do something about this. read more

The absolute best service I have EVER gotten from an auto repair shop. Service: Robert is a true blue Honest Mechanic. Even during my first conversation with Robert I was impressed with his calm professionalism. Cost: His general cost estimate for my repair was within $40 of the online average cost for a starter replacement. Then during the followup call (after they had looked at the car for the first time) the cost got reduced down more than a hundred dollars because it was a different type of motor for the vehicle that the one I thought it was. Speed:I had it towed over on Friday evening (through my roadside assistance) Robert had scheduled it for work on Monday. I got a call on Monday afternoon that it was ready to go. Went and picked it up Tuesday morning and everything is working great. Bonus: They even surprised me with a free AC freeon chargeup that I am ever so grateful for in these hot Florida summers. Repeat Customer: As soon as I can I'm bringing my car back for a total checkup. Gonna as for a laundry list of things that need to be taken care of and just work them bit by bit. Side note: They offer 24hour towing service ($60 which includes hookup and the first 2 miles, every additional mile is only $3 extra). read more

THEY LOST MY KEY MY 16 year old daughter had her Toyota towed and when she went to get it out they gave her a different key from the $300 key that opens the door keyless. When she said it wasn't her key they said it was what they had. The key they gave her worked but all my other authentic Toyota keys that I had for the car didn't work. I went to Toyota. Toyota said that they had changed the security code and that is why none of the keys work but the new one they made. I called them many times and they had no idea what I was talking about and were rude and nasty. I don't know how they run their tow company and maybe management didn't know that someone had illegally tampered with my security system in my car. I find it outrageous how this went down. Our cars are now older and needing more service. Dealer always overcharging and want to do a hugh job at high cost and will not tell you only needs minor fix. This place rocks! They're always upfront and honest with you. I had a drivers side mirror that needed to be replaced, and they recommended that I buy the mirror online and then bring it to them to install because the dealership cost would be a lot more. I mean, what other mechanic does that? I also had a lady back into me, and asked them if they could look at the damage and see if anything would affect the car's performance. They agreed to look at the car for free, and after determining that the damage would not impact the car's performance, they still continued to try and get the dent out for me. I walked out of the shop without spending a dime. They really went out of their way for me. I always bring my car to this shop because they've gained my loyalty (something not easy when it comes to mechanics). The staff is friendly and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Illegally towed my vehicle that caught a flat on the side of 417 it was not near any right of way it was not near any bridge entrance it was also in the grass. I left it there less then 8hrs came back to put a rims and tires on it and it was gone. I called them Saturday and they won't give me any information and stated that there is no one in the office until Monday. According to Florida state law a towing company must allow a person whose vehicle is towed 24hr access to the vehicle and upon requesting to pick up the vehicle they must be met within 1hr to release it. Instead there trying to rack up the storage fees I spoke with DOT and they stated I'm correct and it should have been released upon first calling. I will be showing up Monday and if my vehicle Is not released by law I will be contacting the police department to enforce the release of my vehicle and a lawyer. You illegally towed my vehicle trying to rack up charges because of a holiday easter weekend. read more

My car was taken to Tibbitt's Inc. after it was struck by another vehicle in a 3 car accident. While the tow truck driver was a pleasure to do business with, the next morning proved to be the complete opposite. Now, let me preface this with: I am very easy going and will try to give others the benefit of the doubt for as long as I can. I call Tibbitt's first thing in the morning to notify them that my insurance company will be picking up my car and that they are allowed to release the vehicle. The woman was rude from the moment she said "hello" but I chose to believe that my perception of her tone was off and that she was going to help me out. I explained that I was involved in a 3 car accident the previous night and that my car was towed to their lot and before I could even finish my statement, she interrupted with: "Yeah, the impound lot isn't open until 8." Wow, my apologies. When they do open, do I call back this number and do I need to have any information ready to have the car released? "Like. I. Said. The lot doesn't open until 8." At this point it is clear that I am not going to get any help; maybe she's had a rough morning. I thank her and give a call back at 8. From there I have to get a notarized release faxed to them so that my insurance can take the car to their storage facility. Cool, now I'm getting somewhere. Throughout that process, we (multiple members involved because of registration/title and whatnot) are threatened to have this process made more complicated. The threat goes into "I can make it so you have to physically come up here and turn in a notarized copy." Really? This is how you handle business? Now, that threat would not have been that big of a deal had it not been for the fact that the threat is directed to someone who lives 7 hours away. At this point, we have decided, wisely, to bite our tongues until my car is safely off of their lot and they can't "make this more complicated." Because of these events, I will NEVER use Tibbitt's again and I will NEVER recommend them to a single person. Grab a chain and drag your car somewhere else yourself because the customer service was atrocious. You'd have any easier time do so. I would like to remind you, however, that the gentleman that towed my vehicle was very polite and made sure that I was ok before taking off because I was just in an accident. I appreciate his help and his consideration. They at least have one thing right. read more
