DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! The prices I found online for an AC Delco alternator was $150 to $500. They charged me $952.42!

I was looking around for a mechanics shop to get my brakes checked. Following the advice on a group page on Facebook, I decided to come here and see what all the good advice was about. This building is located off of 436 right behind a building called Pet Bazzar. Stopped in around 430pm after work and walked in and talked to a Tiffany. She said she wouldn't be able to get someone to do a test drive since it was almost closing and they had to work on other cars. I was ok with this as the next day I was off. I'm here today and the owner, Bill was here and I told him my situation. We took the car for a test drive and he confirmed my diagnosis. Front rotors and pads. I called another mechanics shop in Tampa. The price quotes were about the same. From hearing Bill talk about the issue along the test drive, I can see why many people from the Happenings in Casselberry group page on Facebook have given this business high phrase. He will give you an honest opinion. He won't talk about pricing because he wants you to have a safe riding car. Pricing comes later which was cheaper then a few places around town. The time frame to get the car fixed was about 2 hours which was totally fine. I'll definitely will come back here again for any servicing needed. You should too!

We've been with Mechanic's Plus for over twenty five years, our adult kids even use Mechanics Plus. While Bill Allen has retired, the heart and soul of the shop is in the hands of the new owners Brian and Scott. AND they are doing a GREAT JOB. The mechanics and staff are still there and the shop still feels like a trusted friend. My wife's Nissan Cross Cabriolet experienced a catastrophic roof failure. Although they were not able to fix - the car was ultimately totaled, Brian, Scott and team worked to get the roof closed so that it was drivable. And they did it because they cared! Great new owners and a great place for your car. The most important word when dealing with a mechanic - TRUST - you will develop that with Mechanics Plus!!! we will miss our CrossCab but we will be back to Mechanics Plus very soon.

Update to my review from 7 years ago…read more Tom of Tom's Auto sold his business last year to Bayside Auto, another family-owned business with another location in Port Orange. The good news is that the name remains the same, and Tom and his mechanics continue to service autos as before. The best news is that they still only recommend repair and replacement for what is necessary at the time I bring my vehicle. The pricing is still fair and reasonable. My family and I have been dropping our cars off at Tom's for over 12 years, and I'm thankful to say that we will continue to do so whenever we need vehicle maintenance and repairs.

If I could give Tom's Auto Shop and a -1010293738198 star rating, I would…read more I am absolutely furious. This place is a nightmare. Do NOT go here unless you want to be scammed, ignored, and left with a broken car and a lighter wallet. RUN AWAY they do not care! The new owner ZACH is completely unprofessional. If I was lying, I would've just left a negative star review but I'm taking time out of my day to write this so read it if you want. Do not let these five star reviews fool you. This shop was bought recently! I brought my car in for an AC issue. I clearly explained to Zach that the AC blows cold air for about 10-15 minutes after starting the car, then switches to hot air while driving. That's a specific symptom. I trusted them to listen and assess it properly. Instead, they called me and said the Freon was "halfway full," which might mean a leak. They said they'd install new valves and inject dye to check for leaks. Fine. I agreed. Then they called back and said they saw no dye. So... no leak, right? Not only that there was no leak that they saw before they even did anything or touched the car they just assumed! But anyways that should've been the end of it. But no. My boyfriend picked up the car, and within FIVE MINUTES of driving, the AC was blowing hot air again. Clearly, they didn't test drive it. Clearly, they didn't verify if the issue was resolved. That alone is unacceptable. I brought the car back. I showed a mechanic the AC wasn't blowing cold. He felt the air, popped the hood, and immediately said, "It's probably the compressor." Just like that. No diagnostics. No testing. Just a guess. I left the car again. An hour later, they called and said it's the compressor and now it's $900. Excuse me? Why wasn't this mentioned in the first place? Why wasn't a full diagnostic done before charging me for Freon and valves? If I had known it was the compressor, I could've gotten quotes elsewhere to make my decision. But they didn't give me that chance. They piecemealed the problem, charged me for absolutely NOTHING, and then dropped a $900 bomb after the fact. Let's talk about the Freon. I asked for proof that it was low. They had NONE. No before-and-after photos. No data from their $10,000 machine. Apparently, this fancy machine doesn't even keep a history log. So I have zero proof that Freon was ever low or even added. That's shady. Then they tried to take ALL the Freon out of my car when I asked for a refund. I told them, "If it was halfway full, leave half in." They said they couldn't do that. So I told them to suck it out and put half back in. They charged me $105 for that five-minute task. I got a partial refund of $237, but I'm still out $105 for something THAT TOOK 5 mins! and have no proof that my car was even low of Freon. I'm 25 years old. I didn't know much about AC systems, and I trusted their word. But after doing my own research, I learned that if the AC blows cold and then hot, it's likely NOT a Freon issue. It's something deeper--like the compressor. They should've known that. They should've told me that. Instead, they took advantage of my trust and lack of technical knowledge. This shop is untrustworthy, unprofessional, and underhanded. I'm speaking with lawyers to see what can be done. The way they treated me was awful. And don't be fooled by the good reviews--they're from the previous owner. This place is under new management now, and it shows. They don't test your car. They don't assess the full issue. They just guess, charge you, and send you on your way. Then when it doesn't work, they hit you with another bill. It's a scam. Avoid Tom's Auto Shop at ALL costs. Protect your money, your car, and your sanity.

I came here wanting to get a quote on how much getting my car A/C and passenger rear view window…read morefixed would cost. The owner told me a simple dye test should do the trick to check the A/C. Hours after dropping my car off to do this test, they call me with an appalling list of things needed to be fixed in my car to the tune of over $3,500. One of which was leaking coolant, which I had fixed less than a year ago elsewhere. I went to my last mechanic to use the warranty from this repair. However, he was able to physically show me that there was no leak. I went to check everything else on this list of repairs Everything Automotive claimed I needed, and only 2 of the 5 repairs were actually true. I agreed to get my mirror changed at Everything Automotive and nothing else. But the owner wouldn't take my no for an answer on getting everything they listed repaired, and tried pressuring me to scare me saying my car was a ticking time-bomb. It wasn't. When I came to get my car an hour after the full diagnostics I didn't ask for was finished, the owner said he needed more time to "do what he needed to do still." Slightly concerning since there was nothing we agreed to repair yet, and of course when leaving, my car ran worse than it did when I got there. As a girl alone in Florida as I finish up my education, it's so disappointing to see the lengths people will go to swindle others. The owner states to have helped lots of fellow students from my school which worries me how many other people were suckered into spending money on things they didn't need from here. Do yourself a favor, and find an honest mechanic like Vimar up the block across the street from Full Sail University to help you with all your needs!

When I brought my car in and I told him that this was a repeat problem he did a deep look through and replaced parts of my AC and I haven't had a problem with my AC since. I am so grateful.
