I've been going here for well over ten years. I live in the neighborhood and it's so convenient. It's always been great. But today was different. A man asked me to come into the shop to show me a few things. He said the headlight that is loose but secure would not pass so I asked him why it has passed inspection every time before. He asked who did inspection and I answered "Here" then he said in a very condensing tone that I wasn't understanding him and asked again who. I said here at this shop. He said no, who inspected it? He wanted somebody's name and I never knew the name of any employee at this business and it doesn't matter. I was getting annoyed and suggested he move on with the inspection and he got very angry and yelled at me that he was going to pass the car but now wasn't going to. Another man came over to intervene and the drama continued so i went back into waiting room and asked for someone calm to come talk to me. The other man came in and said they called the boss man and they asked me to take my car somewhere else. I quietly left. Will never go to this business again read more

This is the quickest place in Charlotte to get an inspection; no doubt about it. The waiting-room is small and suffocating, but that didn't sway me away, because I was only there for about ten minutes. The employees here are lickity-split mechanics that know how to get a car in and out. When I was there I saw about five different guys checking different things on my Buick for the inspection. The lady behind the counter was a sweetheart, she seems like she has been working there for a while and she doesn't mind if you interrupt her from her newspaper (she loves company). Service rendered: NC State Inspection Price $30. They take debit, credit, or cash. I would be shocked if they don't have the fastest inspection in town. Last year's inspection here took less than 15 minutes, from start to finish. But that was with one person manning the shop. Yesterday, it took less than 10 minutes. I really should have timed it. By the time I was settling in they were done. There were 3 friendly guys working and all were professional and helpful. They very thoughtfully offered to scrape my expired inspection sticker from my windshield too. The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, is because this is a clean, zero frills establishment. It's not the most comfortable waiting area, but when your customers only sit for 10 minutes it really isn't necessary. If you are one to turn your nose up to dingy chairs and no bathroom, go elsewhere. They do have a water cooler and local papers to read to sustain you. It really isn't bad if you aren't bothered by trivial aesthetics. Easy entrance and exit from Central Ave. This is NOT a place to drop off your car to pick up later. Excellent quick service. Went in on 12/31/14 was told my car wasn't going to pass because of horn before he even pulled it into garage. He explained what I needed to do to get it up to par, so I went next door to Auto-Zone, had the part put in he inspected and everything was great. I saw someone posted they only gave 4 stars because it's no frills; it's not but it is good honest people who know their stuff and do a good job. I'll take that over frills ANYDAY! This is a no-frills, in-out auto inspection service. The building is run-down and the waiting room is not very nice -- fortunately, you don't have to spend much time there. Since all they do is inspections, I'm usually there for 10 minutes. They also inspect motorcycles - which is not true for all inspection locations. read more

Took my motorcycle there yesterday and they refused to inspect it. Stated I had a straight exhaust because my bike was loud. I have a set of pipes commercially sold and have never altered them, D & D Stubby Cats. Even called Tech support of the company and put them on the phone. Inspector refused the speak with them. If I was guilty I would not write this and their refusal to inspect a bike because they felt it was too loud was out of order. Today, I decided to try this Auto Inspector instead of driving to Matthews for my annual car inspection and I am certainly glad I did.
