I hired Hugo to do a vehicle inspection when I could not be present. I explicitly asked him to 1) scan the codes and 2) drive the vehicle to feel how it shifted, as the transmission was my area of greatest concern. He was polite and accommodating when arranging. However, his work product was limited: he texted some photos and videos of the codes, but struggled to articulate their significance. He did not drive the vehicle at all, according to the seller who was present. Hugo lied to me that he drove the vehicle around the parking lot. I would not recommend Hugo for any vehicle inspections due to honesty concerns. He also promised to send me a report outlining his findings, so I could discuss with the seller. I still have not received it. Unfortunately I paid in advance. 2 stars as he did send photos and talk with me after the inspection. But the lying and failure to perform are to be avoided. read more

We were able to exchange information, he quoted me an estimate over the phone and we set something up for the next day. He came this morning early, so on time, and was done in less than 40 minutes. Hugo was our go-to local mechanic. We trusted him with our cars. My son was going to buy a car and we even suggest Hugo inspect it before purchase. My son did just that, and decided not to buy the car, unfortunately Hugo then sold my son a car we thought would be reliable given that he is a mechanic. Unfortunately two days after the car broke down and Hugo refused to help. We took it to a service place and they suggested we file a police report. These guys change my window regulator on my 2013 Tesla the price was fairly good and they did a good job that was very reliable and punctual. I ordered the part and ended up meeting a motor. They said they could order a motor have it the next day they came the next day and said that the part didn't have the motor I felt like I didn't hire him to order parts so it really wasn't their responsibility. I reached out to Hugo with a complicated issue. I towed my car, a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT, to his garage and he assured me he could fix it. Hugo was able to help me out in a pinch. My car kept on stopping while driving (the connection to the battery kept popping off), and I was scared to drive it and needed to get home. (I don't live in Tracy). He immediately made time to examine my car and identified 2 options for me. He could create a solution and I could get some the same day, or he could order a part and install it the next day. I chose the first option, and he assured me that I would have no problems getting home. He was right. A man of his word. However, the only reason I'm not giving him 5 stars is that he didn't tell me until AFTER he implemented his fix that replacing his work may cost up to $3000 for a new mantle. Wow. I was desperate to get home, but didn't realize that waiting a day would have saved me $3000 in the long run. I wish I had known that when making the choice. Very communicative, knows his stuff, a bit odd that he works out of his garage (not sure how his neighbors like that situation). Really great experience! My boyfriend and I were in the middle of a road trip. Earlier in the morning we got an oil change from a Valvoline center as we didn't have time to make an appointment elsewhere. Two hours away from home and we were having oil pressure issues. No where was open, but I called here, he was about to close and was wiling to wait for us, so he had us come by right away! Helped us solve the issue and was super nice about it. I even called to confirm the day of. Unfortunately, when I got to the used car dealership Auto Hugo completely flaked. They did not show up and stopped picking up the phone or answering messages.
