I have always, always, always, been incredibly resistant to diets. However, while I've always been comfortable being a bigger girl, I recently realized that I weighed more than I ever have in my life, that my eating habits were terrible, and that I weighed 30lbs more than the weight I was used to being at for so long. And I realized that I wanted all of that to change.
I go to Central Family Practice for my medical and doctor needs, and when Connie told me about Ideal Protein it sounded REALLY difficult, but really effective, and a healthy, correct way to lose weight. I was skeptical, I won't lie. Diets are so not my thing. But hearing that this was a safe and effective way to lose weight from my doctor, who I love and trust COMPLETELY, I knew it was the right thing for me to do.
10 weeks later (10 weeks of a lot of self control, but nothing life shatteringly difficult), I'm down 35lbs, which is 5lbs past my initial goal. I want to loose another 9lbs, at which point I am going to phase out of the program, and get into what they call "maintenance", which teaches you how to keep the weight off and be more mindful of the things you eat together and how they effect your body, while letting you more or less eat how you did before the diet.
I am a BELIEVER. This stuff WORKS, people. Its kind of crazy how well it works. I cannot believe I've lost so much weight in just over 2 months. It's amazing.
Julie Lack (who is also CFP's licensed Esthetician) is an incredible, nurturing coach, who is super encouraging and supportive every step of the way. I have always been adamantly against scales and weighing myself obsessively, but now I look forward to it every week, and also to seeing Julie and tracking my progress. It really feels good having someone that holds you accountable and knows what you're going through (she's done the program as well with great results).
I'm still going to be a bigger girl by the time I'm finished with this journey, which is another awesome part of doing Ideal Protein through Central Family -- they aren't going to push you to lose more weight or be anything but what you want to be. I'll never be a skinny girl, and I don't want to be. They understand and respect my goals and have never once pushed me to lose more than I feel comfortable losing or alter my goals and path.
I will admit that some of the IP foods are not great (which you eat along with regular food), but there's plenty of stuff that they make that are AWESOME and that I think I will even really miss by the time I'm off the program completely. That chocolate pudding is my jam. I'm totally going to miss it.
So if you're like me and have struggled to lose ANY weight (working out, eating healthy, etc. never work), whether it be 10 pesky pounds to 50+ (I'm friends with a girl on instagram whose lost 137lbs!!), I really highly suggest visiting Austin's Ideal Weight at Central Family Practice. It's very effective, very nurturing, and will make you feel like a superhuman. Seriously. If I could do this, anyone can.
PS - I forgot to mention that they do a free workshop every Tuesday night from 6-7pm if you're curious and want to learn more. Plus, free samples! read more
