Been going to Austins for 30 years and never had a bad experience until tonight. We all ordered prime rib except for one person ordered a sirloin. We ordered an appetizer as well. Appetizer never came. Server brought prime rib instead of sirloin. Then blamed the kitchen. He sat there while the rest of us were enjoying our meals. Charged me for a caesar that I didn't have. Apologized but with no sincerity. Was only interested in chatting it up with others at the till at the side of the bar. Wanted to give her 10% tip or nothing but she was hovering over me so gave her 15% which was the lowest amount. Will go back of course but come on!! If you dont want to do your job....then quit!! read more

I was there for the Oilers game. It was pretty busy. I was trying to get our waitress's attention but she could not hear me. I was sitting next to the till and another waitress was right beside us, so I asked her, if I could order some food or tell our waitress to order some for us. To my shock, she proceeded to yell and swear at me!! Replying..... "I'm busy and I'm not your FN waitress!!" She totally flipped out on me! I sat there in complete shock !!!!​ A Waitress WOULD ACTUALLY TALK TO THEIR CUSTOMER LIKE THAT, MIND-BLOWING All the customers around our tables were staring at her screaming at me. It was very unprofessional and she could have handled it differently. But our waitress was great and made tried to make it right and offered to buy me fries. I at that point I was so uncomfortable and declined. But she did try to rectified the situation. But didn't want to be there no longer! ...And it's too bad because I recently Just lost a few family members and haven't been out for a very long time... and I thought I would have some fun watching the playoff game with friends.... that was not the case! We were recommended to come here and try the steak sandwich. For $14.95 you get a large piece of garlic bun, coleslaw and fries! I wanted my steak well done and it was the most tender, tasty steak sandwich i have ever eaten! Fries were perfect and coleslaw was the bomb. We also did a starter of potato skins with regular cheddar instead of the jalapeño cheddar and they were too by far the best I had in a long long time! Server was very engaging, friendly and prompt. Great service, food was delicious and great prices! We will definitely be repeat customers! read more

A casual neighborhood joint with beer and food. The food is not bad. I've had the burger, and the fish and chips. Food seems to always be freshly made which I appreciate (=crispy fries + hot food). They have quite a few TVs for watching sports. Staff are nice and so far it's been good service the 2 times I was there. Yes they do have steak sandwich for $6.95.... and yes it is small...but for $6.95 you can have 2! read more

I mummbled "stay classy" And he retorted some like "you got to be classy to stay classy" feel like I couldn't say something to the staff, because their tight. Instead I'm going home. Wow... I used to come here because it is so close to my home. 7 years and counting since I turned 18 in fact. Now I will never ever ever come back. First, my friend was over charged by 4 beers. He was then not able to dispute it because the little blonde server (terrible server never smiles never says thank you), had rudely switched us to another server. Also, My other friend whilst going for a cigarette left money on the table expecting change, and the server pocketed the extra cash and left without asking if he would like some back. For me, the wings were God awful, and the quesadilla was a small portion. This is also typical with Austin's. Their portions are extremely small for what you pay. Here are some local suggestions: creekside pub (Canyon Meadows), Three Crowns (Woodbine), or the point and feather in (oakridge/braeside) Austin, is this how you want your legend to end? Increase your portions and hire some happy servers. Until then, I will continue to boycott, and tell others to also boycott your bar. Which by the way is a lot of your youth clientele. read more

Good prices. I work nearby and take advantage of the fact that it's not as busy as the other places that end up with a huge rush when the high school is out for lunch. The all-day steak sandwiches are good cuts and well priced. The burgers are ok and they have some ok prices for domestic beer on tap. The bartenders are pretty inexperienced so don't bother ordering anything fancier than a ceasar. It's average pub food at average prices with a clean atmosphere. I recommend going there if you're hungry and need some lunch or dinner. read more

We went to Austin's for our Valentine's dinner. Austin's offered a 6 course menu. The meal began with a charcuterie board that included various meats like prosciutto and salami as well as marinated artichokes, tapenade and pickles. It was delicious and a large portion. This was followed by ahi poke, a raw tuna salad that was very tasty and served in a bowl, in a bowl with dry ice which was cool. This was followed by a Caprese salad which came with Balsamic beads which apparently are a type of molecular gastronomy a really great tasting salad. The next course was a light beef consommé. For the main course we had risotto with scampi and scallops. The risotto was a little bit heavy but still tasty. We could have chosen pork belly or braised beef short ribs. Those dishes looked really good and the other diners were commenting on how great it tasted. Finally- dessert!- a delicious coconut chocolate mousse that was light and delicious. I have to commend the creative chef at Austin's. For a pub meal that cost only $40 per person we were totally impressed and enjoyed our evening! (Thanks for the lovely red rose!) read more

Food is really bad! Won ton soup was cold, cheesesteak sandwich....? Didn't really know what was going on there but just gross! Service was slow but server was good, she was just very busy. Good ambiance but I think food is rushed, slapped together and just bad for pub food. read more

Austin's is a newly-renovated pub in the South, just off Elbow Drive and Anderson Road. Overall the atmosphere was nice enough. The server was attentive and friendly. Very casual atmosphere and menu. They have a decent wine list with reasonable prices. read more

Great looking restaurant after the renovations. Have gone a few times. Prime rib on Sundays are a good deal. They have cheaper beer than most places. Service is nothing special but gets the job done. I like the Saturday steak and lobster special but they just increased the price from 17.95 to 21.95. I would still go because it's close to home, good prices, lots on the menu. read more

Good neighbourhood pub. Kitchen is open late, I have ordered here past 1 am. If you are looking for a well prepared meal at 1 am. There are not a lot of options in the city. The Fil chef here usually has good specials. Regular menu items range from standard pub fare to braised lamb shanks. My rating out would be 3.5 if I could give it a half star. read more

As stated in another review, this place has potential. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and it was perfectly.... okay. Nothing to write home about, but worth the $. Disclaimer: I was REALLY hungry and anything would have tasted magical at the time. Others in my group had the steak sandwich (seemed like you get what you pay for, so at under $7... well, I'm sure you get the picture). A special request of grilled chicken breast and vegetables resulted in 2 chicken burger style pucks with celery, carrots, and some sliced cucumber (all raw) for a price of well over $10. The server stated that the kitchen told her to ring it in like that. Soft drink refills are full price. Yup, that's right. Almost $3 for your first, and same price for all subsequent drinks. When the staff was asked about this, they said that the owner says, "This is not McDonalds." No it is not McDonalds, nor is it "pretty much every other freaking restaurant in Calgary." We were a group of 9 and this was a convenient place to go. Without the rest of this group coming with me, I cannot see myself going back to this place soon. read more

This place is well priced and has a few good things on the menu but every time we go, they drop the ball -- food's been served burned; entrees on the menu are never available (take the pork adobo off the menu), pizza is sub-par, raw and gooey under the toppings. Austins. To start it off, the server was dressed in a swanky 60s dress with pearls at 10 30 am - what is This; the great gatsby ? She bragged about how the holandaise sauce was made from scratch. Dare I say it had the texture and taste of butter pudding . And not the warm kind . The eggs were so over cooked it was basically like eating a cold hard boiled egg on a cold stale English muffin . The Potatoes were so salty I could feel my arteries clogging as I ate them. I would never ear their breakfast again, but I might be back for wing night on Monday. read more

I am a local resident in Canyon Meadows and have frequented Austins for over 20 years. Austins has been struggling with staffing issues for at least a year now and unfortunately the level of service has hit new lows. There seems to be no server training at all. Resulting in errors made with food orders, few check backs and waiting for eternity for drinks to be refilled. The ladies are more interested in flirting with patrons than actually doing their jobs. The sad fact is when you complain, instead of being apologetic, some of the staff defend their crappy service by saying "my section is too big and we just hired that girl". On our last visit there were 5 tables, under 25 people in the place and our server spend more time trying to pick up the boys than serving our table of 7 people. As a consumer I have a choice of where to spend my entertainment dollars, it wont be at Austins any more. The food quality is typically good, but its not worth the going through the horrible service to get. read more
