Atmosphere: pretty cool! I like the nautical theme, and it's not too loud or flashy. Got the VLTs and I think two arcade style games? I think it's mainly geared towards the older crowd, my partner and I were the youngest looking people I seen lol. Service: Awesome! Bartender Bob was a great guy. They have good deals every day, and good prices. The staff are friendly and very sweet people. Food: My partner and I got the sticky toffee pudding and the cheesecake.. holy moly they were honestly the best desserts I've had in ages. I've eaten a few sticky toffee puddings and slices of cheesecakes.. but they don't beat Schooners. Honestly, I am jealous this isn't my neighborhood pub. We are originally from Edmonton, and were getting sushi from a store behind this place. We decided to kill our 30 minute wait time in this pub, and I have no regrets. Came here on a Thursday with my brother. Thursday has $5 off burger special. I had the American Cheddar Burger with Fries and a and extra side Caesar Salad. Really good. The fries were skinny which I like. My bro had the Big Boy Burger and it looked really good as well. The only thing weird was they charged for pop refills but maybe that's the norm now. I really like the place, but the service needs to improve A LOT!!! At least for Wednesdays night. I have been living in the neighborhood for almost 7 years an I've at Schooner's several times, but last night my wife and a couple of friends went there and had a bad bad experience. We went there on a Wednesday night to show our friends the place given the fact that they recently moved to this area. The first impression that we all had was a very disrespectful waitress with dark hair passing by. The place was full and we tried to ask that waitress with black hair if it was possible for us to find a place and she answered in a very rude way that she was not able to help us and to look in a different area of the place. After that we tried to decide if we want to wait or go, and the same waitress with black hair passed by an pushed one of my friends just because she was on her way. After that we moved to a different area to try avoid being around that disrespectful waitress with black hair, and some nice ladies offer us ti seat and share their table, and guess what? The same waitress with black hair approached to the table (not on her area) and asked in a very bad way if we were causing problems, which I don't know how she got to that conclusion given the fact that the ladies sittingon the table were laughing with us. At that point we decided to go and my wife complained with a different waitress and told her what happened and how disappointed and upset we were. I have worked in customer service for several years and I always avoided to pass any frustration or stress to any of my customers. I hope that the owners and or the managers read this review and talk to their employees, so they can avoid this experience to happen to another customer, because as I mentioned at the beginning I really like the place and I will like to me and my friends keep going to it, but it will not keep happening if we are treated like that again. read more

Came here with some family on a Saturday afternoon. They have love music and a $13 steak sandwich. The musicians this week were... ok... and the steak was over cooked. The soup that came with it was flavorless too... so I wasn't impressed.5!2 deep fried pickles were delicious though. I had a glass of wine and it was alright. Ok for the price anyways. Overall the vibe is rather blah and the crowd is an average of 50-60 plus. The service was fairly good though. read more

Walking in you'd think it's just an ordinary neighbourhood pub. It has the VLTs, the pool tables, overly loud music on Saturday night. The first hint that things are not as they seem are the more than competent waitresses. But it's not until the food arrives that you realize you're in the presence of greatness. The food is not consistently good, it's consistently great. Our latest order was the nachos (extra gauchomole & chicken), and the cook did not skimp on the hot peppers or cheese. This and previous experiences makes me want to explore the rest of the menu. read more

You know, I was prepared for a place loud, grungy maybe, and where I may not want to be for a few hours ... but I was pleasantly mis-informed. A Friday night in Calgary and this strip mall pub was just the opposite; comfy, nice relaxed clientele, pleasant, funny wait staff. Food was good; baked spaghetti was recommended by one of our party. The meatloaf was also worth while. Drinks are relatively cheap, the evening was fun, and I recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

Their wings are monstrous you'd think they were on 'roids! All the saucy wings are breaded and covered with sauce, while all the dry rubs are also breaded and evenly coated. My favourite is honey hot, salt and pepper, and Memphis rub. Used to come here every other day when every other day was wing night. Schooners dialled that down now (only Wednesday and Sunday I believe) which is probably best for mine and other's health. read more

I've been to Schooners twice. Both of them were on wing Wednesday and on nights of Flames games. Understandably, the pub was extremely busy. The wings are awesome, huge and good quality. The service killed it for me, though. There were maybe three servers for the entire place and the servers are older women, 40+ and are clearly past their prime. They are extremely slow and have difficulty hearing your order unless you yell. If you aren't a group of guys, ordering drink after drink, don't expect to be waited on consistently. Would have been five stars, but they need to have a staff meeting, and perhaps hire a few fresh faces. read more

Stopped in for a beer. The waitress was a little stand offish. I think she is used to dealing with locals or the usual crowd. I really liked the feel of the place, kinda dark, but not too dark. Some games and things for entertainment. TVs everywhere. The prices aren't bad. Picked up a beer and some poutine. The poutine was awesome. I will be back jsut for this. The Yorkies were pretty good, but nothing spectacular. We were there at a weird time, so the food might not have been a good sampling. Thanks for the brews!! read more

A great pub to go to! I've gone many times, with friends, colleagues, family, and it is so good I've even sometimes gone by myself. Every time was a fun, great experience. Fun, chill, casual atmosphere, good history behind the pub, the servers are always attentive and friendly, extremely reasonable prices, and the food is always good. Great place, it can get very noisy and there are a lot of "regulars" who know each other, but overall the place is quite friendly. Always a good crowd, never a bad crowd. Never had a problem with service, but yeah it does get busy especially for hockey, football, and UFC (there are lots of TVs). Some servers are better at coping when it gets busy than others. The menu has been "upscaled" and trimmed down recently, which was kind of a disappointment to me as they had some stuff on there I used to like. It's a bit more towards a "bar & grill" style menu now rather than traditional pub grub, if that makes any sense. There are surprisingly few seafood options for a place called "Schooners", but the Halibut and Chips is good . They also have the best garlic fries in the city, and possibly the world. They're not on the menu anymore so you have to ask for them specifically, but they do still make them. Covered in garlic butter and parmesan, they can't possibly be healthy, but they are delicious. read more

I love this bar!At first glance, this little pub tucked into a corner of a strip mall looks like a dive, but wait!! Once you enter, it still looks a bit divey, lol. The atmosphere is not what is so great about this place. The food, the beer and the servers are what make it great. Now remember, it's just a small neighbourhood pub. They don't have an exotic menu or 80 million beer choices, but if you order a pint of beer, it will ALWAYS be fresh and very cold in a frosted mug. Mmmm mmm. The food is consistently delicious. It's regular pub fare and it's all very tasty. I personally love the mini Yorkshires and the potato skins. They also serve breakfast on weekends and it's a really good breaky. Cures my hangover every time the prices are really reasonable too. The servers are mostly fantastic gals who are happy to serve you. Every once in a while you get "the new girl" or the one who is having a bad day (I assume), but even then, they know their stuff and do a good job. Schooners is a great place to stop in for a pint and a bite to eat. Just remember - it's just a local pub, not a fancy bar. It's for the "every man" (and woman). read more
