I'm surprised by the number of 5-star reviews. I haven't actually purchased anything from them (not in a long while), but my experience there was far from terrific. First, I arrived at the Allandale location to test the "Moksha" mattress. I didn't think to call first, because the Austin Natural Mattress website states clearly: "The Moksha is shown in all Austin Natural Mattress & Houston Natural Mattress locations, if you wish to come in and try it out first." So I was surprised to learn not only that they didn't have that mattress, but that they didn't stock it because it "isn't popular." I asked what was wrong with it, and the guy replied, "Nothing. It just isn't popular." That's interesting because, as a $ 1,300 (in queen size) mattress, it's really at the bottom end of the range of mattresses they sell. I'm not sure if price is a factor in their decision not to stock it, but at the very least, they should update their website. The salesman spoke really quickly, perhaps because he was trying to handle another couple who were in the process of purchasing a mattress. Indeed, even as they sat across from him and he typed on his keyboard, he was offering to answer my questions. No matter, because what I overheard was really concerning: he was offering the couple a $75 credit if they posted a Google review. Now, he wasn't telling them what to write, but the $75 credit was preceded by offers of small price reductions on various items, which surely put them in the mood to write a good review. While I think it's okay to ask customers to write a review, offering them a credit on the condition that they write a review (this is verified by QR code) seems unethical. I left the place feeling that I wanted to take my business elsewhere. read more

This dealer came highly recommended. Shopping for a mattress or multiple mattresses can be daunting to say the least. They can get shockingly expensive these days. It's a process I consider a "grudge purchase" : something you really don't want to spend a grip on, but you probably should: which isn't exactly the most pleasant process. I recently had to purchase multiple mattresses for a cabin property that desperately needed an update. My sister-in-law was having a laugh at my expense / the prospect of me driving around alone to try out mattresses. I found several places that were oddly, permanently closed and also ended up in a few "Mattress Firms" (which I think must be a front for something!). After a lot for frustration and some laughter, my sister-in-law suggested that I try Austin Natural mattress: that she would never shop anywhere else... When I walked into the location I was pleasantly surrounded by some very interesting music playing on their house system. It was some arcane Ween music from a somewhat obscure live album. They've been one of my favorite bands for more than a few decades now, and you don't often hear their music in a retail setting! I was greeted by a pleasant gentleman wearing a Ween T-shirt & noticed he had an inconspicuous yet somewhat prominent (and esoteric!) Ween tattoo on his calf. I knew I was in the right place. If I remember correctly Charles (the sales rep) told me he had Ween Shirts for practically every day of the year & he intended to wear a different one every day. As someone that actually followed this band on some tours back in the late 1990s: this is fascinating news that brings back a flood of fond memories. We exchanged more pleasantries about our mutual Ween fandom as I sampled the wide array of gorgeous all organic and non-chemical mattresses. They have some killer ones, and for something you spend close to 1/3 of your life on: it seems wise to get something that doesn't off-gas hydrocarbons and other chemicals as they slowly break down. After trying several really nice mattresses that ranged widely in price I settled on the Avocado all organic mattress: King sized. I didn't ever think I could afford such a luxurious item, but I somehow got in on the last minute of their Labor Day sale. As a laborer myself: I couldn't be more pleased with the process and outcome of this exchange. Several months in, and I'm sleeping more comfortably than ever. The only drawback is that traveling has become more difficult because most places don't have beds nearly as nice as mine. It was great to find what I was looking for from a local dealer that believes in protecting the environment and keeping good vibes going in the community. I would second my sister's advice & recommend the community look no farther than Austin Natural Mattress when it comes time to improve your sleep comfort! read more

I live in Vegas and had been looking for a new mattress for some time to replace our 15 year old Tempurpedic. Having done some research in advance (all hail Mattress Underground and Reddit!), I liked what I heard/read about Naturepedic EOS but unfortunately, I'd have to drive to AZ/CA to try one out...no showrooms in Vegas. That said, I had a business trip to Austin and decided to hunt around. I saw that Austin Natural had them in many different firmness layers and models for me to finally try in their showroom. I had been dying to see what they felt like as they are primarily latex mattresses (although you can substitute for micro-coils if you prefer) but I wanted to make sure I was okay with the latex feel since I had only known the feel of memory foam previously. In fact, Austin Natural Mattress lives up to it's name and sells mattresses that specialize in safe and healthy materials for those that want organic or want to avoid chemical foam inserts, etc. Upon arrival, met with Charles who was just the nicest rep that you could hope for... helpful, laid back, and ready to answer any questions, but not "in your face" by any stretch and was completely happy to let me try different models, help me understand the nuances of each firmness level as well as the different layers that made up the Naturepedic EOS Pillowtop that I ultimately fell in love with. Cool thing about these beds is that each side of a King (for example) can have their own firmness layers and you have 100 days to change out layers if you get home and find it to be too plush or too firm. Plus, if a layer goes bad, you can just replace that particular piece and not the entire mattress. AWESOME! We went ahead and ordered with Charles and the mattress arrived a few weeks later at our home. Super easy to setup and we've been loving it so far! We went with plush coils (it's a hybrid) and not one, but two separate 3" latex inserts, one medium above the coils and one plush above the medium. It's all wrapped in an organic cotton cover and is SO soft and supportive, we couldn't be happier! I was warmly greeted when I walked in on a little bit of a busy afternoon. After the previous customers were taken care of, I was asked questions about what I was looking for and price range and shown a couple of mattresses to check out and then left to my own devices to, spend some time on them and explore the store. Anytime I had questions, I easily got a hold of the guy working as soon as he was done with other customers and was able to make a fast and easy transaction. I'm all about shopping small and local and it showed when the mattress hadn't been delivered and I feared it would be sent when I was gone on a trip. Charles was wonderful. I called in advance to ask a few questions about the organic kids mattresses they sold (Avocado and Naturepedic) and Charles was super helpful. Given mattresses are expensive, I decided to bring one of my children in to test out the mattresses. We ended up purchasing two naturepedic versa mattresses, Avocado mattress toppers and water proof mattress covers. Ambiance of the store was great and I never felt pressured to make the purchase at the moment. Though I did end up buying at the end of the visit! He was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Then he patiently went through all the options that would meet our needs and only pointed us in directions that included the features that we wanted. At no time did we feel any pressure to buy a mattress, nor did we feel like he was doing any salesy techniques to get us to do what he wanted. The delivery service people were excellent: punctual, professional, thorough, cooperative and patient. The after-purchase support from Hollis and the manager, Charles, was excellent. They listened well and gladly supported our requests. The organic mattress that we bought, by Naturepedic, is extremely comfortable and great support. It has consistent feel throughout the mattress and great support at the edges as well across the mattress. It's kind of nice to be able to walk into a mattress store and not feel like you are being bombarded by pushy salesmen. We walked into this place and were able to walk around and enjoy getting to actually lay on some of their mattresses without being bothered a bunch. The pricing is pretty high but we ended up getting one a couple of years ago and it has kept up quite well. There was definitely no chemical smell and we got to enjoy the mattress right off the get go. The lower lines do feel kind of foamy so if you want something that is comparable to Tempurpedic then you should probably look into their more expensive lines. Not plenty of parking but I have never seen their lot full so no problem! read more

Charles and the team are awesome. We first came here more than a year ago when it was time to upgrade from a Queen to a King. I researched online and thought I knew what I wanted, but decided to walk into a mattress store before making such a big purchase. Best decision I made. Charles had absolutely no sales pressure at all, but was very informative. We wanted a pillow-top mattress and he introduced us to the Naturepedic EOS. The modular aspects of the mattress and level of customization were things that we immediate became interested in. We pulled the trigger, and it was the best night of sleep we ever had. After a month, back and neck pains we had completely faded away. 10/10. But this story doesn't end here. We had purchased a bed frame and foundation to go with the mattress. During the first month, the frame split or cracked. Charles made the return process easy -- even though there were a few hiccups he took care of everything. We ended up getting a Thuma bed frame and headboard, which really took our new mattress / bed to a new level. Within a couple months, we moved. The move was unexpected, but with the mattress being modular (and the bed frame being Japanese joinery), it was the EASIEST move a mattress had EVER been, and this is a KING size mattress. Wow. I moved everything myself, except for the coils. I had wrapped them in a mattress moving bag and asked movers to handle them with care. The movers ended up ripping one of the bags and getting our new bed coil cover completely covered with dirt and dust. I contacted Naturepedic directly about this, but was advised that I couldn't wash the coil cover, it wasn't washer safe. They were supposed to send me a new cover, but they repeatedly failed to do so. Their support was pretty frustrating. Against their advice, I tried to wash the cover on cold/delicate and it still shrunk, exactly like they said it would. I ended up calling Austin Natural Mattress because I wanted to exchange the plush coils to firm coils, and explained the ordeal we went through. The "ruined" coil cover actually belonged to the firm coils we had, which meant we couldn't just do an easy 1:1 exchange. Charles took care of this quickly. A year later, it was time to transition our son from a toddler crib to a full mattress. Without thinking and without hesitation, we returned to Austin Natural Mattress and got the Verse Naturepedic mattress. Our son immediately loved this bed. I am sure we'll buy another mattress in a few years, and it will be from here . 11/10. read more

Highly recommend coming to the store for the expertise. I had done a little bit of research about the store and natural mattresses. We came in yesterday and was greeted by Steve. Bought a king size mattress from Austin Natural Mattress, and they delivered to our door. Our in-store experience with them was great. The real deal-sealer for us is that they held our purchased mattress in their warehouse for us for a few months, which was so above and beyond service wise. We were remodeling our house and due to supply chain demands and delays, our house wasn't done in time. They were so kind about our delays in delivery, and we are so grateful they are in the neighborhood.
