We went to several mattress stores and this was by far the best. Monica listened to what we wanted and made some great suggestions. She wasn't pushy at all (like some of the other places we'd gone). The fact that they were one of the least expensive stores was also a plus (the mattress quality was high and very comfortable). My housemate had ordered a mattress through these guys on line and was really happy with it. I decided to drive down and "test drive" the mattress before I bought it. It's a tiny store. just filled with mattresses - so they aren't trying to sell you other things, and you can lay on any of them before you purchase. The guys in the shop are really nice, absolutely no sales pressure. This is a small business. I got a great deal on a mattress / boxspring / frame...delivered the same day. I know people are into this whole bed in a box business, but honestly, take a drive over to these guys and lay on it before you pay on it. I bought a mediocre mattress and my complaint is with the associate for pressuring me into applying for their financing. I am 23, had a terrible mattress, and was told I could just apply and it was interest free financing. Cool. Tell me it's interest free for 6 months. Apparently it stops being interest free after 3 months and then you get charged a finance fee! I'm paying about $800 in a "financing fee". That is the exact price of the mattress. This man signed me up for this KNOWING I would run into this. I feel taken advantage of. He KNEW I am a poor, college student struggling to pay bills. In fact, I talked in depth with him about going to UT Austin and the jerk bragged to me about how tuition was $400 a semester back then and now it's gone up and all the scholarships and grants are going to all the "indians and mexicans". Not to mention they screwed up delivery and now I know they have shady business practice! Apparently sales are more important than screwing over a poor college student who works full time and goes to school. They don't care about anything but sales. I made it explicitly clear how much I struggled with money and now i'm stuck paying $1,600 for an $800 mattress that's mediocre at best. Anyways, if you want to deal with shady sales dudes who are vaguely racist and will sell you a mattress on a 3rd party financing company which will charge you several hundreds of dollars in "financing fees" (I have paid $720 so far, and still have to pay something like, $930 more dollars) then this is a great store to go to. read more

I have to start out by saying they're not a horrible store, I just find their policies in returns a little ridiculous. I bought a mattress 2 months ago and felt like I was talked into a Euro top bed instead of what I really wanted which was a pillow top (I have chronic back issues). The salesman assured me I would be happy with it and if I wasn't they'd find something else for me on their return policy. So after sleeping on it for a couple months my back pain is worse and I actually prefer to sleep on my couch, not awesome! So I went back in and explained my situation to the same salesman as before and he was really unsympathetic. First he suggested I put a $150-200 mattress topper on a brand new mattress (what??). And then he made it seem like a big issue to return it. They also take out 15% of the total purchase price for a restocking fee because "they can't sell a used mattress". Whatever, that's fine, but then they don't have any pillow tops in my price range, the only one that's close is a cool $200 more than what I paid already plus an additional $50 to get it delivered and an extra surcharge to remove the 1st mattress! They also didn't have that one currently in stock and said they'd call me when it came in, but they never did. I'm just so annoyed at this point and am so frustrated at spending $700 for a mattress I can't sleep on. I'm sticking to the chains from now on, they price match, have sales, and will take back your mattress if you don't like it...no surcharge included! read more

**BUYER BEWARE** I purchased a mattress three years ago from this location. I slept on the mattress for one year approximately. Flash forward to today and I have permanent lumbar damage from the cheap memory foam. I have never had back issues or any injuries and I know the timeline adds up. I've had to resort to chiropractic work, massage, acupuncture, and xrays due to the severity of the pain. It is not muscle damage but spinal. Like Mike Tyson says, "It's spinal". But In all seriousness I'm not trying to damage the business or out to hurt anybody. I am under severe pain and stress due to the mattress I purchased from here. I might has well spent the money on a proper mattress after all the money Im spending on fixing my back! read more

I could not be happier that I stumbled upon the website for this place while I was looking for a mattress. I already had a bed frame, so all I purchased was the box spring and mattress. They have a wide selection that caters to almost every consumer. They lay it out, both on the website and at the store, in a way that is very easy to understand. If you take 10 minutes to look at the website, you will know exactly what you want to look at when you get there. The owner was the one who assisted me and he was very nice. The way he spoke about the mattresses was similar to the way my father used to speak of cars. You could tell that he knew every detail of each mattress and he seems to enjoy working with the public. They delivered my mattress to Round Rock, on the third floor, for no extra charge. That might seem like something people should just do, but having just moved, most deliveries cost me extra for Round Rock and even more for the 3rd floor. The young man that delivered them did so with the utmost care and he was extremely polite. WAY more than I can say for any other delivery during this move. Sleeping on this mattress has been great. The bed is just what I was informed it would be and even more. I hardly want to get out of bed anymore at all! This place is a hidden gem for the mattress shopper. I found these guys through an easy Google search about a year and a half ago. They cut the competitions' prices in half. I bought a king-size Serta mattress for under $800. I remembered this little shop last weekend, while my boyfriend was shopping for a new mattress. He got his queen size Beauty Rest mattress (no box set) for $430, with taxes. This place has a great selection, whether you are looking for a soft or firm mattress, and everything in between. After a visit to the chiropractor, I made the journey up to McNeil Dr, because the reviews here on Yelp were so good... and his website boasted some great prices. Both were good indicators of the experience. Lamar let me try a few beds, working within my price range. He was honest about how well they were (or were not made), and even suggested I get the least expensive one. Then asked some important questions about what I needed in a bed. When I told him about my back, he took it seriously and had me try one more model, just in case. Man, it was perfect. A week ago I purchased a full-size mattress and frame from Macy's. At that time I *didn't* buy a box spring, thinking a sheet of plywood on the frame would work all right. Won't ever make THAT mistake again!! I found Austin Discount Mattress using an Internet search. I called and spoke with Monica, who was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. Today I went and picked up my 9" full-size box spring ... $96 total! It fits perfectly with my mattress, and my sad, sorry arthritic knees already fully appreciate the extra height. The shop is smaller than I anticipated, but it's welcoming and has a very friendly atmosphere about it. The quality and choice of beds is very good. I wish the sales associate would have just come out and told me that I was wasting my money on the mattress I purchased. A valley formed after just 6 months -- maybe even less. Now I have to purchase a completely new mattress so I may have well just used the money I spent on the first and applied it to a more expensive, sturdier model. Admittedly, I did not pay a lot so maybe the guy was just happy to get whatever he could. But he would have been surprised. If he told me that I would be unhappy in a few months, he could have gotten 200% - 300% more out of the sale. What an attitude from the wife of the owner! We visited this place on Saturday 8/17/13 to get a king size foundation. An elderly nice gentleman greeted us. He gave us a price of $180. We left to get some more pricing from other retailers. Almost all the prices we got were similar (even slightly cheaper at Sears outlet) but we decided to go with this place to support a local business. We went there again on Monday at 7:40pm. Its web site says it closes at 8pm. But the door says it closes at 7:30. We went there again on Tuesday. A lady greeted us. We asked about the price, she said $199. We told her that we got the price as $180 3 days ago. She said "I'm the wife of the owner (why telling this?) and I cannot give you with that price." I really hated her attitude. I guess this has one of two meanings: * "I'm the wife of the owner and I'll price stuff whatever I want" or * "You are a bunch of liars. You lie to get this foundation for a steal price" (i.e. $20 or 10% lower). I really don't know which one she meant. We politely left without arguing. Stupid me thinking of supporting a local business. read more

I have been here to buy mattresses twice. Once with a roommate from college to get a cheap mattress(although it was cheap it was very comfy) and once with my Mom to pick out a guest bed. The owner was extremely helpful. I did not feel pressured at all, and he showed us all the mattresses in the store from the cheapest to most expensive without any bias. I ended up buying a Simmon Beautysleep mattress. I am very happy with the purchase. Super happy so far with this experience! Realized late last night that we needed a new Queen mattress, box and frame delivered out to Dripping Springs in two days or less. I was dreading the experience of having to find something decent, at a good price, delivered out here (which is often outside of Austin delivery zones). I called first thing this morning and talked to David. The website says "Make a deal with David" and he definitely delivered on that promise! Got a great deal on what looks to be a good buy on a comfy, quality mattress set and LOVE that it is made in Texas! Plus, David gave us a good deal on delivering to us, even though we are technically outside their delivery area. Austin Discount Mattress is a small store and salesman Dave showed me three mattresses when I said I wanted something twin-sized and affordable, but trying the three was all it took to find the right one. It was on sale too so all we paid was $200 for something super comfortable with great support. As we waited for a friend with a van to show up so we could haul the new purchase away without charge, Dave was very friendly and happy to engage in conversation with us. The money that they *don't* spend on a giant, gaudy building is invested in competitive pricing and hiring staff that actually cares and takes interest in the needs of their customers. The gentleman who helped me was very glad to show me suggestions in the price range and style I was looking for, and I found the perfect bed in less than 10 minutes.
