I never thought I would write a great review about buying a mattress! But, this experience has been one of the best, in any type of buying experience. My Fiancee and I arrived from out of state a week prior, and our friends who moved out to Austin area a year prior, told us to go to this place. We met Tamara at the door, on a Sunday, as soon as they opened. Another couple came in at same time we did. She did a GREAT job handling both of us. (* I used to work retail, and know it is hard to juggle more then one customer, especially if only one on floor) She helped us, and other couple with a smile, and talked to us, like we have known her for awhile. She did sound like some sales people, where you can tell, they have said this same speech or descriptions of items a hundred times. LOL. She was very pleasant, and answered all of our questions. We went in, not thinking we were going to buy that day. But, on the third bed we tried, we fell in love with the Camellia King....OMG...so plush....and so comfortable! We like it mid-firm, and not feel like sinking, but not stiff, and this was PERFECT! We ordered the bed that day, and got it delivered about a week and half later (*we had brought a Queen bed with us from other state, but heard they provide a loaner if needed). The delivery guys called, and said they were going to be early (again, a first for items being delivered). They came in, set up frame, box spring, and bed (up a flight of stairs, and bed is heavy), quickly and efficiently ! They were in and out under an hour! Bought one of their top of the line organic mattress from them in 2016. Mattress and purchasing experience was great and we loved the mattress. However some of the springs have just started popping up and the mattress is extremely uncomfortable now. We have a section that is raised about 1-2" above the rest of the height of the mattress. We really wanted to love this mattress, but it's been a year since we bought it from Urban Mattress and we can't stand it. My parents also bought a mattress from them around the same time and they already had to replace it (for the same reasons we have to replace it too now). The mattresses become harder and super uncomfortable after just few months of use, causing neck aches and back pain. We take good care of the mattress, we rotate it regularly and keep clean. We were expecting to use this mattress for at least 5 to 10 years. I tried contacting the seller, but they don't reply on messages and emails. Theres also another huge problem with the mattress - we got was queen size but was way smaller than regular queen - I actually measured it because it was smaller than a queen bed frame we have and thought they sent us full or single. It was 3-4 inches smaller than the tags says. The useable mattress space is even smaller by extra 5 inches (almost 10 inch in total!) because of the shape of the mattress so if you're planning to buy their queen size mattress for two people it won't work, it's gonna be smaller than any other brand queen size mattress. read more

My review for Urban Mattress is way WAY way overdue, but what can I say. Life moves fast and before you know it, you've slept on the same comfy mattress for over a year and still no review. Well, here it is. We moved here in 2016 and we left our old Eastern King behind, it was an opportunity to splurge and improve the sleeping situation! In this OCEAN of mattress stores that we find here, we had heard really great things about Urban Mattress and honestly I prefer to support locally if I can, so we went for a visit to see what they had. (And spoiler alert: we left with a mattress ;) ) We were immediately greeted by Shane, who is the owner, and Lauren, who helped us figuring out our mattress needs. Our then-6-year-old was well taken care of as well with Netflix and a comfy couch! So mom and dad had all the time in the world to shop. I have NO idea how long we spent trying mattresses, but Lauren was so incredibly patient and very knowledgeable regarding what to show us based on what our preferences were (and also based on weight, as neither myself and my husband are exactly on the skinny side....). We went around and around, finally narrowing down our choices to a couple, at which point Lauren suggested to go back to those and lay on them for 10 minutes or so to get a TRUE feel for the mattress and how it would feel for a longer period of time. The prices on their mattresses were definitely on par with your run-of-the-mill mattress chain and the quality of customer service outweighs "them" by far, there was no doubt in our mind that this was where our mattress shopping came to an end. We ended up with a beautiful eastern King sized mattress that was incredibly comfortable. A couple of months into the year. the mattress unfortunately started slumping a lot, and both hubby and I would kind of be rolling towards the middle of the bed every night. We called Lauren up and expressed our concerns and guess what - no problem - after a couple of phone calls and emails, we ended up exchanging our mattress without any issues at all. It has now been over a year since this happened, and I for one can't wait to sink into my bed on my awesome, comfy mattress every single night! I also ended up buying a pillow here, and it too has held up its end of the bargain, it's definitely my favorite pillow ever. Another awesome piece of information about this business is that they will donate a percentage of the sales to a charity that you can pick. I think back to our mattress shopping and there really was no comparison between the mattresses and customer service we received at Urban Mattress compared to other chain stores. I felt it was a more personal service, not so "plastic" and commercial (even though it IS a business, I realize that of course). And we actually felt comfortable reaching out regarding the issue with our first mattress, when in most cases I really do dread to call and complain about something, even if it's in my right to do so. My experience was really nice. This location really goes above and beyond for good customer service. delivery was great and the guys were very prompt and respectful of my space. My only hold back is it's a little more expensive than what I have historically paid at a larger furniture store. However they give some donations back to the community based on each sale and its locally owned. They provided me some recommendations for restaurants in the area since I was new in town. It was as if their business was simply a way to let them help others. And maybe it is :) I was really worried about getting a new mattress, being a little more sensitive to some of the fumes from newer mattresses. I am a very precise and selective person. So when it came to buying a new mattress, I went all out to find the best store and matress to buy "the best night sleep". So unlike all the other stores around town (you'll notice there are tons of them) this place was different than all the rest. Instead of feeling like a car dealership for mattresses, Urban mattress felt like the Starbucks of mattress stores. It's a place you can go to curl up and get comfy. From my experiences, the other places have bright lights, pushy sales people, and the feeling you're going to have to fight to get a good deal. At Urban mattress, it not like that at all. They don't push, they guide. You feel relaxed and like you're a friend. And if you spent as much time as me trying out mattresses, a bit like family. So after spending nearly the whole day there, I found a mattress!! And now here's where things get interesting. One of the concerns about buying a mattress is the worry thought of "what if after I buy it, I don't like it". Well, I thought I picked the best mattress out. I had spent an almost entire day there. But after they delivered it, set it up (the next day at no charge) I began to think it was too soft! After about 2 or 3 week, I realized it was too soft (grip!). But my fear of calling and looking silly and having to negotiate with them to get this right was quickly allievated. So here's what happened. I reached out to Laura, my salesperson who basically "jump into bed with me" for this journey to find the best night sleep. She was just a pleasant and helpful, helping me find another mattress as she was the 1st. With NO hassles, they 100% stood behind their return policy. Just as easily as they delivered the 1st mattress, I picked a much firmer 2nd one and it was promptly delivered for free. Plus they automatically refunded my credit card over $500 for the price difference between the 1st and 2nd. Now it's has been about 6 months since my purchase and I am still very happy with the service, the mattress, and my experience with their company, I have already recommended them to other friends who've bought from them too. So if you're shopping around, you MUST stop here. Let them take care of you. I will buy from them again and will probably just stop to say hi! Thanks ya'll! I was due to buy a new mattress but wanted one that would help me alleviate my back pain, searched online and Urban Mattress came up, the reviews didn't disappoint. I bought a fantastic and most comfortable mattress ever! I'm not sure giving people beer when they will be laying down on super comfy beds is the best idea if you don't want a few sleeping beauties, but I should probably assume most people aren't going to get drunk at the mattress store. My husband and I were getting annoyed with our cheap, immitation Tempur-Pedic bed and needed something that would keep my recently injured back happy. We had been looking around at other places and were thinking about a TP Cloud, but a friend of mine suggested a latex bed, which don't sleep as hot. I found Urban Mattress on Yelp and was a little wary about the QuestionMarkHead reviews. Would this place really be five stars? It was! Isaac took great care of us and we found the perfect latex bed. There was no rush, he looked us in the eye, and didn't try and convince us to buy the most expensive mattress in the place. My chiropractor (Dr. Cynthia Tays) wrote me a prescription so I didn't have to pay taxes on the bed. PLUS, they donate 2% to one of five charities (even Safe Place!) for you to choose from. They also have these, what i like to call, Luxury Bean Bags. They aren't bean bags at all. They are filled with memory foam material and come in a range of sizes. They are incredibly comfortable, and I have a funny feeling we'll be back for one. Their delivery staff is freindly, efficient, fast and accomodating. We originally got the large foundations, and they made our bed too tall. UM sent their staff back over to pick them up and drop off the small foundations. I don't have to throw myself onto the bed anymore! No more using the bed frame as a step! If you're looking for a mattress, bed, or Luxury not-Bean Bag be sure and stop by and talk to Shane or Isaac. At first, I kinda liked Urban Mattress, despite the fact that the salesman continued to push me to get the Temperpedic mattress, even though I clearly wasn't interested. Just for fun, I asked if they gave teacher discounts, as I am a 1st grade teacher, unfortunately, the salesman said they didn't. I finally settled on a mattress, and went home to think it over. That night I was perusing their website, and what do you know, they did have a 10 percent teacher discount. The next day I went to Austin Natural Mattress, to check out what they had to offer. I found a superior ECO Memory foam mattress (the same brand I was seeking at Ubran Matress), for several hundred dollars cheaper. One time about 2.5 years ago, I bought a pricey king-sized eco-friendly talalay mattress from here. I was told it would be delivered the following week. Fast forward to the next week, and I get a call saying that the mattress will NOT be delivered because it is not in stock, despite being told that it WAS in stock when we were in the store. I was told that I could wait like 6 weeks for the headquarters in Denver to make a new mattress OR I could take a floor model, which would not be the same hardness as the one I had ordered. Not wanting to wait 6 weeks and not wanting a floor model bed that I did not order either, I tossed a coin and went with the floor model. It was delivered ALL kinds of scuffed up with large black smears on it. Every time my back hurts because my bed is too firm, I think 'I should have written that damn review on yelp and been honest,' so here we are. We almost passed Urban Mattress up simply because it seemed they were more into the Tempurpedic (don't want) and some unknown brands to us. But on a whim when we were in the neighborhood, we decided to pop in, just to verify that the Stearns and Foster we'd decided on at another store was indeed what we wanted. After about 20 minutes, we discovered that no, we did not want that Stearns and Foster afterall. We talked to Isaac who was wonderful, and told him we were going to go think about it for a while. We went across the highway to buy sheets for our new bed and came right back to pay for our awesome new extra firm king sized bed and boxspring set for half the price of that Stearns and Foster. This was more comfortable and more affordable. And even cooler? When the delivery people were loading the mattress, they saw a small black mark on the mattress. Isaac called us to let us know that he could get us another one in a week, or give us another $100 off. We chose that extra $100. He simply refunded it to our card and our bed was delivered that evening. That night, we slept great on our new bed and have ever since. No hassle, no crazy talk, no BS. Glad we started our mattress search here, as this is where it ended as well. Lauren, the manager, started with us from the beginning, asking what was wrong with the current (dented) bed and explaining the difference in softness and supportive. She was super patient with us trying out everything from spring to memory foam to latex beds, and then various softnesses. They have pillow covers for the germaphobic (me) and are very respectful of your space and time. She seemed to know everything about every mattress and brought up points we hadn't considered! Be sure to enjoy the complimentary coffee or beer (THIRSTY GOAT no less!) while you shop. Pretty sure every mattress will feel good after a beer or six. The only adjustable base they carry is a Tempurpedic one, I think Ergo-Plus, if you're in the market for that too. During check-out, you can decide which of 5 fabulous charities you want 2% of your purchase to go to. It's free delivery, and none of that shady drop it at your door and you figure out how to get it up the stairs nonsense. They'll unwrap and place it for you, as well as haul away the old one for free. If the old one is in reasonable condition, they also will donate those to charity as needed. Good grief, they were spectacular. There was about a 10 day delay between our purchasing and getting the mattress delivered so the morning of I had the pleasure of speaking to Shane, who was very down to Earth. He reassured me that everything was going right as planned, which it did. They were in the window and gave a 30 minute heads up call before they got there, so you don't have to be home all day. read more

He asked us few questions that helped us pinpoint what we want. He showed us a few options, and asked us to try them. After shopping here I now realize that by shopping for a mattress online I had been robbing myself of major relaxation and back therapy. This place has a great selection of foam mattresses, both in brands and firmness. Isaac, our man of the hour, was fantastic. He sat us down for a quick run-down of their stock and after a very comfy tour of the mattresses that he thought would best suit us, he allowed us to test out of favorites on our own. The no-pressure sales experience was great. Being able to jump from mattress to mattress at our own pace helped us to figure out which mattress was truly for us. It also made me realize that all of life's toughest decisions could be resolved with much less stress if you made them all on a Tempurpedic mattress. I never felt so supported service-wise and lumbar-wise during a shopping experience. While we ended up settling on a different foam set, we did snag some Tempurpedic pillows and a really great foam bean bag (curse our impulse buying!). But even with our compulsive need for a foam bean bag chair, we managed to get everything at an incredible deal! Thank all higher beings for Memorial Day sales and a really nice and friendly sales guy. Additional bonus, they donate 2% of your entire purchase to one of several charities that they sponsor. Apparently the company was started by someone that had devoted a lot of their life to charity work. So not only will your back feel love nad support, so will their fantastic charities like SafePlace and Kiva. My only warning would be for Urban Mattress to be wary of offering their customers beer. After watching the looping mattress commercials I was EXTREMELY tempted to test out the whole jumping on the bed to see if would actually disturb a full glass of alcohol experiment. I first visited Urban Mattress last July 2014. I was assisted by Shane, I found the bed that was right for me, and it was delivered on time - all for a very agreeable price. At no point did I feel pressured to make a purchase or to purchase something outside of my price range. Shane was honest and straight forward in his dealings, the benefits of each bed were made known to me, and I had ample time to try out any bed I found myself interested in. Shane was even nice enough to take a few moments to "check inventory" or "respond to e-mails" or do something other than stand by and wait as I ran through the various sleeping positions I tend to rotate through every night on the various bed options I tested out. This experience alone warranted a very positive rating, but... I never got around to it. In December 2014, I contacted Shane/Urban Mattress to address an issue I was experiencing with the bed I bought four months earlier. Shane was more than happy to help and told me to stop by the store whenever I was available. Unfortunately, due to work and other time constraints, I was unable to do so... for almost an additional four months. When I finally made it back into the store a little over a week ago (April 2015), I was greeted once again by Shane, and he was able to resolve my concern in no time at all. Ultimately, I had to have a replacement bed delivered, but throughout the entire experience, Shane/Urban Mattress never hassled me about the ridiculous amount of time that had passed, and I was never made to feel at fault or as if they could/would not assist me. Buying a new mattress is a big deal. Coming from Brooklyn, my wife and I needed a new and quality mattress to replace our 8yr old one and start are new life in Austin. After lots of research and visiting dozens of stores, we visited Urban Mattress. Lauren was incredible from day1 to the final delivery. She gave us a warm 101 lesson, was fun and very happy to help us. We ended up going to other stores and we came back to her again. We fell in love with latex and our Prana Vinyasa mattress has been amazing. Supportive, yet comfortable. We cannot say enough about Lauren's attention to service and her friendly nature. We visited other Urban Mattress locations and the staff was equally friendly, willing to let us try everything, move mattresses, move bases, etc. Having a quality mattress AND a great customer experience is possible. Ours is the story of the Three Bears... our first mattress from Urban Mattress was fine for me, but too soft for hubby. The second mattress from Urban Mattress was fine for hubby, but too firm for me. The third one (and the mattress that Shane and Isaac encouraged us to purchase from the start) has ended up being just right! It's always tough to lay on a mattress in a store for a few minutes, and imagine how that translates to hours of sleep over years of rest. We were skeptical at first, almost questioning whether the folks at UM were trying to "up-sell" us from the start, but thankfully they were gracious enough to let us swap out the mattresses we tried... never charging extra fees along the way, so we could learn this lesson the hard way. We even had an instance where a delivery was supposed to arrive (I think it was for mattress #2) and I stayed home all day, waiting for UM to arrive. When no one came or called, I gave them a call to find out there had been a miscommunication, and that our mattress was not yet available. I was upset, and expressed this, as I felt I had wasted a day at home waiting for nothing. They gave me a $100 credit toward the mattress. I smiled. :-) All in all, mattress shopping stinks! But, these are honest guys who listen to what you want, and try to meet your needs within your price point. After a purchasing a terrible mattress from a chain warehouse store nearby, my wife and I decided our back pain had to come to an end. We returned the mattress and I visited Urban Mattress after seeing all the glowing reviews here on Yelp. I'm thankful I did, because not only did they have a pretty solid selection, I was also treated to probably one of the single best sales presentations of my life. I ACTUALLY felt like I was being spoken to by another human being for once. Shannon was the gentleman that helped me, and he was fantastic. He gave me plenty of time to check out a number of mattresses, and provided plenty of information relevant to the concerns I'd expressed upon walking in the door. He didn't push Tempurpedic (even though they carry a large selection) because I'd expressed a disinterest in it based on previous experience. In the end, we got exactly what we wanted, and actually managed to enjoy the transaction. Our next mattress will come from Urban Mattress without a doubt. There's no better place to buy a mattress in my opinion. Good customer service, great selection of beds if you're looking for a nice mattress, and they contribute 2% of every purchase to one of a few non profits in Austin. First, I want to say that Urban Mattress has the coolest showroom. Anyone would feel comfortable walking into this store. You have to experience it to know what I mean; it's not your typical mattress store. Also, I love that there is no pressure to buy; and the owner, Shane, is a great guy. I found out about Urban Mattress through a Moolala deal, and I'm so glad I did! The shopping experience with Isaac was great--no pressure; just all the information we needed... and some tasty beer! My boyfriend and I bought our mattress (the Powell Plush queen) about 4 months ago, and it has provided us with many restful nights. It's a spring mattress, but we can still get in and out of bed without waking the other one up (at least, until we trip over something and make a lot of noise, heh heh...). Such a great experience at Urban Mattress. We were greeted by Isaac Snow, who kindly approached us and then left us alone to peruse the mattresses on our own (which was great because nothing creeps you out more than an overeager salesperson hovering over you while you lay on a bed...awkward). When we did have questions, Isaac gave us his honest opinions on each bed- which was a huge difference from the other mattress stores we had visited. After a couple of hours of lounging and drinking complimentary beer...yes, you heard right (Urban Mattress will try to get you drunk and then bed you!) my boyfriend and I decided on an Evosleep biomed gel mattress. Because it was Labor Day, we received an extra $500 off and then a free organic mattress protector. Also, if you have doctor's note from your chiropractor stating a need for a new mattress due to medical reasons, you will be able to purchase your mattress void of taxes. Pretty awesome because taxes amount to a lot. Urban Mattress is a very cool place to shop! read more

Just moved back to the area with my wife and we've been looking for a nice affordable mattress. We went to multiple mattress outlets here in the Austin area and just received real pushy customer service, with the exception to Mattress Firm. The two Factory Mattress outlets we went to tried to sell us things we didn't need. The salesmen were all knowledge but seemed to not care about us saying we were on a strict budget. Then we saw the spinner for Urban Mattess, we walked in and right away we greeted with a warm welcome. Shane personnaly shook all of our hands and asked us what we want in a mattress. We tried several and finally decided on a queen Orgins Laytex mattress. The coolest part about being there was the fact that he didn't try to push anything on us. (plus he gave us some good beverages). We were able to walk around the store and try out mattresses without the hassle of having someone standing over your shoulder the whole time. Also, 2% of the sales go a non-profit organization of you choice, which really said a lot about Shane and his employees. For all the military people here, Shane is very military friendly. I definitely recommend Urban Mattress if you are in the need of a new mattress. read more
