As a 'couch potato in remission' AKA someone who doesn't exactly enjoy going to the gym and sweating it up, I have found my perfect fit at this tucked away little place. Not only do Dave and Paymahn definitely know their stuff, they also know how to make training fun by keeping it interesting and keeping you challenged. I joined Focus a year ago with fitness goals in mind; I keep on going not only because I see real results, but because the team and the other clients have become dear friends I look forward to seeing and having fun with. I was also trying to recover from an injury and Dave worked up a training plan to help me recover and get stronger. Flexible training was also great, never once did I leave the gym feeling worse than when I started. I was encouraged to push my self but never to a point of injury, some days Dave could see I needed to adjust the programing and I still got a great workout injury free. I have learned so much about weight training and gotten stronger than I thought I could be. Since starting at Focus Fitness I have had the chance to do other workouts, boot camps and CrossFit classes but it wasn't what I was looking for after experiencing training at Focus.

    The name of this place. Horrendous…read more... But pretty good gym for the price. The equipment selection is very vast. It's never insanely busy here even during lunch and after work hours. So you will always hone an area or machine freed up for you. My only complaints is that they blast booty rap really loud through the speakers. Like the loudest gym ever where you can barely hear the people at the front desk when speaking to them. Other times they will play butt rock which is just a tad more tolerable. Some may not survive without head phones. The men's bathroom is not the cleanest. Always smells. If you are a sauna user. It is also just mid. My other bigger complaint is that the heavy bags upstairs are unusable. They hung em on chains so high that they are pretty much unusable and they run into the ceiling frame. Kind of a safety issue on that part..... Other than that, better than most other gyms in this area of the price point

Don't even ask for trial passes and one week pass. Same price as the membership. This place is just trying to bleed you of money. They don't care about the gains like their name states. Day 1 when I tried signing up I arrived at 6am, stood at the front desk for nearly 20min with no one around. Turns out dude was in the restroom making TikTok's. Signed up, no tour, no info on the gym, no idea what he was even really doing. Day 15 I walked in to the gym, signed in. Walked past front desk, went to warm up and forgot my water bottle in my car. Went to grab it then came back in. While I was walking back in the front desk dude yelled with insane attitude "hey sign in" I replied I already did, maybe if you weren't on your phone looking down when I walked in the first time you would have known. I am all for understanding, but you raise your voice at me like that? Not my jam, but I kept it cool cause I just took some pre and figured I was just raging from the pre. But it pissed me off and ruined my lift for that day. Day 25 they don't seem to know which is a standard for their foam roles or straps. One person lent me the foam roles, another person required an item to check it out. I attended this gym for maybe 3 or 4 month and went right back to BigTex cause this gym sucked. They say 'Mecca' or whatever but this place is Mecca crap. Scummy management, save your money. Go to BigTex, MetroFlex or even Fitness Connect. Prices are similar. Loud music, and when I say loud you have noise canceling headphone on and you still hear their gyms music. Dirty! cleaning staff is there but somehow it's still nasty, dried sweat on the window for months on end. "Ohh it's busy" I drew an 8 on the door with my sweat and it stayed there for nearly a month. I'd rather be at metroflex with the weight outside in a barn basically. Restrooms never seem to be working properly, one of the showers is always running. Yet no one is in there. Haunted or busted water system? Final review it's a NEW gym but somehow feels like it's already 4 years old. Cool equipment, shitty staff, shitty management, shitty deals, shitty across the board. Yet they are EXPANDING and making ANOTHER gym? Focus on one make it awesome, then start another. Money grubbing at its finest

I've improved not only my strength, but also my balance, stamina, and eating habits. When I started working with Sondra I had just finished my 3rd round of chemo. I had had breast cancer and several years later, uterine cancer. My diet had gotten really out of whack and I had gained about thirty pounds. In addition, my balance was terrible and I fell all the time. I had spent so much time in bed that I had very little strength or stamina. Our first year together was hard and I didn't always look forward to training. But I liked Sondra and actually began to enjoy our workouts! At first, I wasn't used to being challenged that way and I had gotten lazy. But something in me wanted to get stronger and fitter. I wanted her to be proud of me. I missed some workouts, but I kept at it. Today I'm not the same person. I look forward to workouts, and because Sondra is so knowledgeable, she knows how to keep me engaged. Now I hate to miss a session! I've lost all the weight I'd put on and am so much stronger and fitter, with better endurance. Sometimes it's hard for me to believe. Most of all I was impressed by their professionalism and skill with guiding their clients through the weight training circuit. There is a very precise methodology and protocol that they are following. I liked it and found benefit to each of the components of it. It's clear that the program was very carefully and painstakingly thought out. Training for this job must be intense. The workout was extremely strenuous, especially when you have been there a while and built up some strength. Having sessions a half hour long is totally appropriate when you are working as hard as you do there and making your way thought the machines at a very efficient pace. Another thing I really appreciated about the trainers here is that they both clearly seemed to have a degree in exercise physiology. I have worked with several trainers before and the ones that actually studied this in college are far more effective. Being so attuned to athletic performance the trainers can tell when you are getting to your limit and can help to push you on. They're great at motivating so you can squeeze every last drop of strength out of your muscles. That said, they also are totally respectful if you need to take a breather, get water and let your heat rate come down a bit. As an out of shape person looking to build muscle for the sake of my health- I felt comfortable here and did not feel judged or that the trainers had any opinion of me being unfit. They were only kind, accepting and motivating. This has not been the case with other trainers I've worked with before and it is noteworthy. They get a gold star for professionalism. I would have liked to continue on but my financial situation changed and I needed to focus resources elsewhere. The cost for sessions is high but it is also worth it for the the amount of focus the trainers put into your work and the fact that it is 100% private.

I started…read moreworking out with one of the trainers, Lauren (also a good friend of mine, full disclosure here) last July. So basically, you do extremely heavy weights extremely slowly. You totally max out your muscles until you quite literally can't do anymore. And then sometimes, you want to hurl. And often, extremely foul words fly out of my mouth while working out with her. Actually, this morning, as I was doing leg press I think I said "Dang. I sound like a dude" because I did. You know, the big burly dudes at the gym who grunt and sound weird. Me, this morning. I have seen pretty cool results from this. I do weights once a week with her. You heard me - once a week! And my muscles stay really nicely toned. Now, you have to eat right, and do some cardio too, this isn't a magic workout that suddenly gives you a perfect body, but especially if you're a female, building muscle mass is very important. This is a way to do that without spending hours at the gym, or even having a gym membership for that matter. But you also can't be a big wimp and quit. Gotta trust the trainers and push yourself. I lovehate it. But I keep going back so I guess the love wins. Oh and they will work you out for free the first time. So if you're just curious, you can try it out and see what you think. I know, I sound like an ad for this place, but I really think it's good stuff and I feel great about myself when I see that I'm doing more weight, or going longer on a certain machine. And I love that little muscle that runs from my shoulder down my arm that is all nicely defined now!
