Being a young woman who looked even younger -- and dared to set boundaries - meant I was often treated like I didn't belong behind the wheel. Then I found Robert. He was calm, patient, and never once made me feel small for learning. His steady presence helped me rebuild confidence and feel safe behind the wheel. I passed my road test on the first try--and more importantly, I've been driving confidently ever since. Keep your religious views to yourself, this is a driving school not a place of worship. The cars are another story altogether. Ancient, dirty and falling apart. Every single lesson I was just hoping the car would survive long enough to get me back. It was embarrassing honestly, let alone unsafe. I walked away after spending so much money having learned absolutely nothing about driving. Not one useful thing. I joined Coastline Academy shortly after and the difference is night and day. That all worked out just fine and at the end of the 2 weeks he got his permit. The gal at the front desk made sure we had all of the paperwork, etc. in order to go down and get his drivers permit. My son then completed the behind the wheel training. They would even call us to remind us to book his next lesson. Be sure to call around 3pm or later for the South Austin location, we had no trouble getting through and they were always very helpful and friendly. Once my son completed the behind the wheel training, they gave him his completion certificate as well as a note attached with what he needs to have in order to get signed up for his behind the wheel test. Now, the reason for the three star rating is because the course is designed to teach you the basics of stick shift, however, there are no follow up opportunities to practice. There is also no time with the instructor on the open road. All lessons take place in a parking lot. Since learning to drive stick is something I really wanted to do, I went out and bought a stick shift car. I learned very quickly that there were MANY things not covered in this course. I managed to learn them by just getting in the drivers seat and figuring it out. In summary, if you don't know how to drive stick at all this is the course for you. Keep in mind you will only know the basics upon completion and are likely not prepared to take the drivers seat on the open road. You will need some type of follow up driving lesson on the open road and more practice before you actually can drive by yourself.

There are also lots of other interesting things in the store as well. Though I wouldn't shop here if it weren't for the supplies I need as a Chinese medicine student. They also won't sell needles to the general public, which I like. You can, however, buy whatever herbs you like, but you should always have either Chinese medicine training or have a prescription from someone who does, because otherwise you won't know what you're doing. You can't just pick an herbal formula labeled simply for "stress" like you can in Western medicine. It doesn't work like that. I've never received any treatments from interns so I can't vouch for that, but I hear they're awesome. Their staff is very friendly and know me and my friends by name because we frequent there so much. :o) Plus! Every day they have a deal going on. I know Monday their herbs are 10-15% off, but I can't remember what the other days are.
