If you are looking for someone who listens to what you are saying, delivers on what she says she will do, and values your emotional and physical health, do not consider Dr. Christine Fisher for cosmetic surgery.
On October 2, 2023, I met with Dr. Christine Fisher and her PA to discuss a revision of the area between my breasts. I previously had two breast reductions (1995 and 2012) and was left with scar tissue, which created a divot in my right breast. I wanted the scar tissue cut out to repair that divot. My initial impression of Dr. Fisher was mostly positive, even though her communication style is more about sending information and less about receiving it. She also freely shared details about her life and opinions, making her appear approachable and easy to relate to. I later concluded that her oversharing made her less focused on hearing about my cosmetic surgery issue. Additionally, her expressed opinions about male cosmetic surgeons, specifically her perceived handicap of being female in the cosmetic field, seem to have created a chip on her shoulder and an arrogant attitude that no one should tolerate from either a male or female doctor.
During the consult, she commented on the laxity and condition of my abdomen. She stated she could make it look better with liposuction, which she would perform free of charge during my procedure. She also said that she was giving me three microdermabrasion treatments free of charge to manage any scarring after the procedure. The fee for the consultation and surgery was over $7000.00, which I paid before scheduling the surgery. During my preop on October 16, 2023, everything we discussed during the initial visit was repeated and agreed on.
On October 25, 2023, I arrived for my surgery and was prepped for surgery (gown, IV started, and oral medication). My nurse was very professional and friendly. After waiting alone for almost two hours, I told the nurse I was ready to call it quits and go home. She relayed this to Dr. Fisher, who came into the room and asked if I was not going to do surgery. She stated she had a complicated procedure before me and had to deal with it. Of course, I agreed to stay, and she did the procedure. It was late when I woke up in recovery, and my ride took me home.
The next day, I spoke with her PA and asked why there was no incision made on the breast area. She explained that Dr. Fisher decided to try to fill the space with liposuctioned fat. I asked for an appointment to discuss this with Dr. Fisher. Dr. Fisher, her PA, and I met on November 8, 2023. Dr. Fisher wanted me to schedule the microdermabrasion treatments before she did the surgery, which I did not understand, as this treatment was to treat any scar issues resulting from incisions. If all I was receiving were the "free" treatments, why did I pay so much for surgery in the first place?
On December 7, 2023, at my request, I met with Dr. Fisher and her PA for another post-op treatment to discuss how to proceed. I asked that Dr. Fisher follow the original plan and make an incision to remove scar tissue and then schedule microdermabrasion treatments to hopefully avoid scarring.
On January 9, 2024, I arrived for surgery, and after waiting for an hour, I was told by a nurse that Dr. Fisher would be delayed for at least another hour and a half. I dressed and went home. I contacted her PA the next day to schedule a talk with Dr. Fisher. I also asked for at least a partial refund of my money as I never received the surgery I contracted for. Her PA said she understood my frustration and would set up a meeting.
On January 11, 2024, I discussed my dissatisfaction with Dr. Fisher and her PA on a conference call. Dr. Fisher began by giving her first fauxpology of the talk, and there were numerous. "Sorry, BUT her first procedure was more complicated than she anticipated; Sorry, BUT I had wasted both of our afternoons as she could have done another surgery had she known I would leave; Sorry, BUT what about all the time-consuming liposuction she had previously done?" The exchange continued until I asked Dr. Fisher to let me speak. BTW, the liposuction of the abdomen was an add-on suggested by Dr. Fisher and offered as free. The liposuction resulted in more scars, additional lumpiness, and no improvement in the area. I asked for a partial refund as I had anesthesia for the procedure but not the actual procedure I asked for. She offered to do it at NO CHARGE and no refund, but I said I had lost confidence in her and did not want that. She did not give the refund.
Trust in your surgeon is critical when under sedation; Dr. Fisher cannot deliver this trust. To complicate things, you must sign a consent form for anything free or you asked for and paid for. Much like Vegas where the house always wins, this doctor's decisions and actions will always trump the patient's request. read more
