I am so happy with my experience at, and results from, Austin Body Contouring. I wholeheartedly recommend. I am fit and not overweight, but in my late 50s was increasingly unhappy with fat settling on my hips, buttocks and thighs. I've been meaning to write this review for years. I had forgotten about this place until I received a text message saying they were open for business during Covid. Let me tell you - Austin Body Contouring is NOT worth risking your health for during this pandemic. I would steer clear of this place for a couple of reasons: One, it doesn't work. I went for several sessions and saw a small difference, but mostly I attribute that to the obvious things he tells you to do in conjunction with his "laser therapy": exercise, eat healthy, drink lots of water, don't drink alcohol, and take dangerous levels of niacin. I did some research after the fact and was shocked by the risks associated with the high-level doses of niacin he recommends. Two, Ed is a creep. If you enjoy being "mansplained" to, then this is your guy. He's rude, arrogant, and one time burst into the room where I was changing (I was topless) without knocking, acknowledging or apologizing. Long story short: you will see no long-term affects from this quack laser therapy. I am healthy, exercise, and still have the same problem areas I had before I wasted money and hours of my life I'll never get back. Signed up through Groupon. I thought this would be a cool way to reduce my gut. His protocol of increased water, niacin, milk thistle, caffeine etc is simply to flush the system with a mild diarrhetic effect to "in theory" flush the contents from deflated fat cells from the body. I should have done more research before purchasing. All the positive feedback here on YELP is from people who only write glowing reviews. So I interpret that as "paid" reviews. The other less positive reviews seem much more honest and in line with what I experienced. I went through 2 of the 3 sessions paid for, and cancelled the 3rd. Ed bragged about the amount of time you get with his sessions compared to other laser fat treatments, but I saw absolutely no difference and felt nothing from the "procedure" which was to have you lay on a table with red lights shining on my belly. My bet is this device is nothing more that red LEDs. He told every customer who came in while I was there the exact same script and if you feel nothing it's because you have a higher threshold to pain. That sounded really fishy to me. I purchased a Groupon for 3 sessions of Lipo Laser treatments after much research. I am an active 34 year old female and have areas that will not budge unless I starve myself and run 5 miles a day, but who wants that kind of lifestyle? The older I get, the more doughy I am getting and it was time to do something about it. After meeting with Ed for my consultation, I scheduled 3 sessions, M-W-F and an additional session for the next Wednesday. He said most people will say the magic number is 6 sessions, so I wanted to see how I progressed with at least 4. I took my measurements on Monday, January 18, and then again Monday, February 1. 1/18 I am 5'5", 140 lbs Waist: 29 inches Hips: 40 inches Thigh: 24 1/2 inches 2/1 Still 5'5", 137lbs Waist: 28 inches Hips: 39 inches Thigh: 23 1/2 This is a commitment and you must follow the instructions (like cutting out alcohol) and have a good liver in order for your body to process the fat cells and get them out of you. You need to drink at least 100 ounces of water and supplement with Milk Thistle, Niacin and it helps to have Magnesium on hand. I did not lose the inches due to the amount of water and the supplements alone, as I've been drinking that much water for a while now, and I started the supplements a week before the treatments. Make sure you have a little over an hour set aside, because you do an hour of lasers then 10 minutes on the vibration plate. 2 weeks after I've started the treatments my jeans are fitting so much easier, my dresses zip up effortlessly and my love handles are melting. However Ed was incredibly condescending, he kept walking into patient rooms, and I was incredibly put off by his sales pitch. Then he says I would never recommend anyone buy Groupons, I find that many of my Groupon customers are uneducated and don't know what they are purchasing. I purchased a three treatment Groupon for laser lipo at Austin Body Contouring. I set up the first appointment with the owner, Ed, via the phone. I then researched the specific laser that he uses. The manufacturer recommends that the treatments are a series of six treatments every other day. After learning this I called back to make sure I could go every other day. Ed indicated that he knew better than the manufacturer and I didn't need to come every other day. I expressed that I would feel more comfortable rescheduling so that I could come every other day. We changed the first appointment and made the second. Ed said that he would be able to schedule the third appointment. Ed has an email appointment confirmation system. I confirmed the rescheduled appointment. I DID NOT confirm the original appointment. Today, received the following message from Ed: Hi Lynette! It's Ed with Austin Body Contouring. We had you scheduled for your first lipolaser treatment yesterday January 25th at 2 PM. We missed you. You have 2 remaining treatments scheduled with us. Please contact us at (512) 660-2810. Attached you will find a copy of our Cancellation Policy which is also available on our website. Should we not hear back from you later today, we will go ahead and cancel your remaining treatments. I had a Groupon credit and used it towards 3 Zerona treatments. I had gained a pouch after having an appendectomy a few years back that was hard to get rid of despite exercise. I already eat pretty good, mainly following a vegetarian diet...although I am not that strict about it. I felt my stomach was smaller even after the 1st session. Crazy I know! You do have to relax for 2 hours while the machine does it's thing. After 3 treatments I was pretty happy. I know for some people they may need more sessions but I feel you will see the improvement. I, like many others, got an email around the holidays for 3 sessions of the zerona treatment and after doing some research on my own, decided to buy it. I am pretty glad I did. I have completed my 3 groupon sessions and am eager to start more. By following the protocol in addition to already dieting and working out 3-5 times a week I noticed a difference right after the first session. Ed is pretty awesome, as another yelper put it, he has a east coast- no nonsense, get to the point, way about him that I personally enjoy. He tells it exactly like it is and I really appreciate that. After going through the treatment I see why 6 is the standard recommendation, as i personally started to see more *ahem* "movement" after the 3rd treatment. I am eager to start up another set of sessions. Thanks to Ed for being so straightforward, helpful, honest, and accommodating. UPDATE: Just wanted to follow up with an update, it's been almost 2 weeks since my last session and just had measurements done, between hip and waist I lost almost 5 inches total. I am so glad I bought a Groupon with Austin Body Contouring. Let me break it down Pros and Cons. CONS: I had bought my Groupon and called immediately for an appointment. I didn't get an answer and left a message. Ed called me back and said he would send me an email with a protocol and I needed to follow the protocol for 2 weeks prior to my first appointment. This protocol was essential for me to get the best results. The person in me that doesn't like waiting was like "WTF". However, I decided to withhold judgement. I got the list/protocol. I was initially taken back.......The protocol suggested that you drink 100 oz of water, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, take Milk Thistle, and Niacin, cut out Caffeine and alcohol before beginning the procedure. At this point you may be wondering how and why I gave ABC/Ed 5 stars. Well......Ed is actually a decent guy and the results speak for themselves. PROS: Let's be real.......If you want the treatments to be successful you will need to make some changes. The protocol is SUGGESTED and the more you adhere to it the better your results will be. I started drinking 75 to 90 ounces of water, exercised 4 days a week, started taking a B-Complex vitamin because Niacin is one of the Vitamin B's). I did not give up coffee or take Milk Thistle but had great results! This section is called the Pros so let me get to it: First, I was able to have three - 1 hour Zerona sessions for the price of $99 dollars. You will not find a deal like that ANYWHERE. Second, I lost inches off of my waist, hips and back. So much so that I have been able to where pants and shirts that I haven't been able to where in YEARS. I also had to buy new bras because I lost soooo much back fat (who knew back fat impacted bra size!) In addition, I am a parent and had the lower belly pooch. Moms who are familiar with it will appreciate this part. The pooch has shrunk significantly. Now, ABC is a one person business. So I am guessing that is one reason why ED does not answer the phone during business hours.
