I am so happy with my experience at, and results from, Austin Body Contouring. I wholeheartedly recommend. I am fit and not overweight, but in my late 50s was increasingly unhappy with fat settling on my hips, buttocks and thighs. I've been meaning to write this review for years. I had forgotten about this place until I received a text message saying they were open for business during Covid. Let me tell you - Austin Body Contouring is NOT worth risking your health for during this pandemic. I would steer clear of this place for a couple of reasons: One, it doesn't work. I went for several sessions and saw a small difference, but mostly I attribute that to the obvious things he tells you to do in conjunction with his "laser therapy": exercise, eat healthy, drink lots of water, don't drink alcohol, and take dangerous levels of niacin. I did some research after the fact and was shocked by the risks associated with the high-level doses of niacin he recommends. Two, Ed is a creep. If you enjoy being "mansplained" to, then this is your guy. He's rude, arrogant, and one time burst into the room where I was changing (I was topless) without knocking, acknowledging or apologizing. Long story short: you will see no long-term affects from this quack laser therapy. I am healthy, exercise, and still have the same problem areas I had before I wasted money and hours of my life I'll never get back. The consultation was an hour long and the man (Ed) mostly talked about what a great salesman he was the entire time. How he didn't need the money and then showed me "the science". His science was in fact promotional materials you will find at every other place that is trying to sell you Zerona. It's a million dollar industry for a reason, the sales pitch is decent. However Ed was incredibly condescending, he kept walking into patient rooms, and I was incredibly put off by his sales pitch. Signed up through Groupon. I thought this would be a cool way to reduce my gut. His protocol of increased water, niacin, milk thistle, caffeine etc is simply to flush the system with a mild diarrhetic effect to "in theory" flush the contents from deflated fat cells from the body. I should have done more research before purchasing. All the positive feedback here on YELP is from people who only write glowing reviews. So I interpret that as "paid" reviews. The other less positive reviews seem much more honest and in line with what I experienced. I went through 2 of the 3 sessions paid for, and cancelled the 3rd. Ed bragged about the amount of time you get with his sessions compared to other laser fat treatments, but I saw absolutely no difference and felt nothing from the "procedure" which was to have you lay on a table with red lights shining on my belly. My bet is this device is nothing more that red LEDs. He told every customer who came in while I was there the exact same script and if you feel nothing it's because you have a higher threshold to pain. That sounded really fishy to me. I purchased a Groupon for 3 sessions of Lipo Laser treatments after much research. I am an active 34 year old female and have areas that will not budge unless I starve myself and run 5 miles a day, but who wants that kind of lifestyle? The older I get, the more doughy I am getting and it was time to do something about it. After meeting with Ed for my consultation, I scheduled 3 sessions, M-W-F and an additional session for the next Wednesday. He said most people will say the magic number is 6 sessions, so I wanted to see how I progressed with at least 4. I took my measurements on Monday, January 18, and then again Monday, February 1. 1/18 I am 5'5", 140 lbs Waist: 29 inches Hips: 40 inches Thigh: 24 1/2 inches 2/1 Still 5'5", 137lbs Waist: 28 inches Hips: 39 inches Thigh: 23 1/2 This is a commitment and you must follow the instructions (like cutting out alcohol) and have a good liver in order for your body to process the fat cells and get them out of you. You need to drink at least 100 ounces of water and supplement with Milk Thistle, Niacin and it helps to have Magnesium on hand. I did not lose the inches due to the amount of water and the supplements alone, as I've been drinking that much water for a while now, and I started the supplements a week before the treatments. Make sure you have a little over an hour set aside, because you do an hour of lasers then 10 minutes on the vibration plate. 2 weeks after I've started the treatments my jeans are fitting so much easier, my dresses zip up effortlessly and my love handles are melting. When I asked if I needed to reschedule, he said no the reason we have free consultations is because we schedule paying customers at the same time to make up for the free consultation. He began his pitch saying the reasons so many people buy Groupons is because people read the reviews and see he produces results. Then he says I would never recommend anyone buy Groupons, I find that many of my Groupon customers are uneducated and don't know what they are purchasing. He told me people have unrealistic expectations about what they purchased and tried to sell me a different treatment. At this point I would never proceed giving my business to this company. I purchased a three treatment Groupon for laser lipo at Austin Body Contouring. I set up the first appointment with the owner, Ed, via the phone. I then researched the specific laser that he uses. The manufacturer recommends that the treatments are a series of six treatments every other day. After learning this I called back to make sure I could go every other day. Ed indicated that he knew better than the manufacturer and I didn't need to come every other day. I expressed that I would feel more comfortable rescheduling so that I could come every other day. We changed the first appointment and made the second. Ed said that he would be able to schedule the third appointment. Ed has an email appointment confirmation system. I confirmed the rescheduled appointment. I DID NOT confirm the original appointment. Today, received the following message from Ed: Hi Lynette! It's Ed with Austin Body Contouring. We had you scheduled for your first lipolaser treatment yesterday January 25th at 2 PM. We missed you. You have 2 remaining treatments scheduled with us. Please contact us at (512) 660-2810. Attached you will find a copy of our Cancellation Policy which is also available on our website. Should we not hear back from you later today, we will go ahead and cancel your remaining treatments. I felt very uncomfortable with him seeing me practically nude without a female present and he got angry with me because I asked if we could reschedule. Ed was polite, and quite patient with me when I asked questions when overwhelmed by the confusing explaination of how "the fat cells deflat, ATP is released through a chemical process the cold lasers intitiate... niacin and water must be taken...fiber is a must...coffee is encouraged...a PPG based laxative may be necessary and is encouraged if a client gets constipated, because it is important to have good elimination while this treatment is administered...." You do have to relax for 2 hours while the machine does it's thing. After 3 treatments I was pretty happy. I know for some people they may need more sessions but I feel you will see the improvement. I am 30 years old, 5'5" and 210 pounds. I am pretty evenly distributed with my excess around my inner thighs, love handles, waist, arms and face. I did everything that I was supposed to do; I cut out alcohol, and caffeine and took the niacin and milk thistle. I also regularly do kickboxing and yoga as my choice of exercise. When I left my first treatment (without doing the jiggle machine) I went home, did my dry brushing, took a shower and put on my compression garments. I can only wear the compression clothes when I am at home because it is just too hot to wear them throughout the day. By the next evening I was already starting to see a change, especially in my love handles and my face. My second and third treatments I did the jiggle machine and have noticed even more of a change. I regularly drink a lot of water and feel I have a pretty healthy liver but I took the niacin and milk thistle just to be sure I followed the regime.
