After moving to a brand new home, I needed a washer and gas dryer but didn't have any budget left! These guys made the effort to open on Saturday morning to meet me and I found a set that fit my budget. They work hard to do the right thing, in my opinion. It's not a showroom with regular hours and they operate by appointment. Text or call and leave a message and you get a response almost immediately. We got off on a bit of a rocky start when the units were delivered because the installer didn't have all the parts he needed but, thankfully he only had a 10 minute drive to the shop...which he unfortunately had to do twice. I see the other reviews here and I can't help but say...these are USED appliances...scratch and dent or refurbished. There may be a need to clean them up, even after they are delivered...and after every use, since that should be normal anyway. They are not showroom new and that's not what I paid for...I couldn't afford it so I went to these guys instead. I am happy with the units, everything works as intended. I am keeping an eye on the dryer because I see the interior gasket is coming loose. It will need to be replaced but I'm thinking it cannot be. For that I will call Austin Appliances, not bash them here for somehow doing this to me on purpose! I think they are a legit business and do their level best to provide folks like me with affordable appliances. I don't think they operate with malice, or have any intentions of scamming anyone...like anything else used or refurbished, things can go wrong...I am hoping they will honor their warranty and will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

I'll join the long list of customers who have been duped by this guy. He sells broken - not dinged, dented, or used - BROKEN appliances. He'll then claim to have ordered a part or some other excuse and then he will disappear completely. I bought a washer and dryer. The dryer shuts off after 10 seconds due to a faulty heat sensor. He brought me a "replacement" dryer that screeches metal on metal as it runs. We haven't had a properly working dryer in nearly two months of steady phone calls and texts trying to get it fixed. At this point, I have to go out of pocket again to have someone reputable make the repair. I wish I would have seen the reviews before I did business with him via Craigslist but he's good at changing phone numbers and classifying his company as "out of business" as a way to avoid the bad reviews or being delisted from Craigslist. Sold me a broken refrigerator, via an ad on craigslist. After he tried to fix it twice unsuccessfully (with my having to buy ice every day b/c the fridge didn't work), I asked for a refund, but then he just disappeared. He doesn't put his business name in his craigslist ads, probably because his reputation is so bad, but then he shows up with an "Austin Appliance" truck. It's the same guy depicted in one of the other reviews here. This listing keeps getting changed to "Out of Business", though he's clearly still in business, just under the radar. It's either getting changed to Out of Business because he keeps changing phone numbers, or else he's falsely telling Yelp himself that he's out of business, to prevent people from leaving more negative reviews. read more

THE SATISFACTION GUARANTEE statement on the website just isn't true The only reason I gave one star is because I couldn't give 0. To make a long story short, my wife and I bought a scratch and dent refrigerator. We paid cash and I self delivered it home. The fridge never cooled and I arranged for a service repair. After several attempts to get the repairman to show up I gave up and took it back to Austin appliance. After trying to get my money back Jim Vessels said he did not give refunds. I proceeded with small claims court to where we both stated our case to a judge, Austin Appliance lost the case and my claim was won. Austin appliance. Now owes me $1385.00 and has made no settlement to date. Their statement on their website that says SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED is just NOT so. Buyers Beware I bought a dishwasher and Stove. Paid cash for the items but needed them delivered and installed with a later date. Very important! If you buy and leave it for a later delivery its important to mark the item with more than the tape they give you to write your name on it. The stove I paid for and receive if feel I got the big old switch because I looked at the stove pretty good. No marks, no cracks but when I receive the stove, there was cracks, marks, lags missing on the left side. I'm thinking it was one leg that was missing I'm saying I can just call the company and get a leg to put it on by myself. Lifted the stove and there was the 2 legs. The case was bent so there would need more work than I wanted to deal with. The reason kept the stove was it was for a rental house so just get it fixed and everything is fine. Text the company with the number they gave me and they said they would send a tech on Monday. They text me not about saying they were on the way to fix the stove but saying the stove I bough was a gas and needed change it to propane which cost $65. There would be no problem if my gas company used propane right? My company at the house use natural gas and I tried to tell these people but they didn't want to listen. I stopped to the company and to tell them of the problem of the gas. I had a stroke so I'm unable to hear. Only written and they didn't ever write anything to respond with what I was addressing. I told the older man who I bought the application that I trusted him to take care of my needs. I left after taking pictures of the company . I text the other man sending 2 photos of the gas meter and a bill with it showing my company has natural gas. Sent a link of the gas company also but no response from text. Mind you, I called then about a broken stove. I received a text from another man saying he would come by the following day. He ask me what was the problem and I told him and he was the first person I felt would listen what I was saying. His name was Saul. I told Saul I lost in trust with with this company and I just want this stove taken out of the house. The company has a replace or 90day warranty. All I wanted is to get the stove out and be done. I gave the stove away for free and decided to buy a new stove from Home Depot. Much less stress. I know in these reviews when its not what the company want hear they try to act like they really care about. I hate I had to take my time to even write this review but I had too. Beware of this company and if you decide to buy, look over it very good. Sure its a use application but they are selling it to you and I should've not had to deal with all of this BS. read more

This guy.... wow. I loaded up a 150 pound ice maker, drove it 20 miles to my house, and messed up my entire schedule THIS morning only to have him ignore my calls. Down right disrespectful! I purchased a washer and dryer in March 2014. I had a few problems with the both of them but Marco quickly came out to fix the issues. After several repairs to the washer, they replaced it with another one. Except for the hassle of the appliances breaking, Jim stayed true to the warranty her offered and fixed it all for free. Had a Maytag Dryer and Whirlpool washer delivered to my apartment in June 2014. Jim Vessells, the owner was up-front and honest about the refurbished appliances I purchased. He delivered exactly what he promised. Both appliances are working well. The gentleman who delivered and installed them was right on time, and did a great job. Well I got blown off, yelled at by Jim (notice how he was so kind as to review his own business Yelp), and then given the excuse that "i just bought this business and any outstanding liabilities I'm not responsible for" - despite the fact he had no problem buying the inventory, the website, the location, the employees, the whole thing but miraculously not the liabilities or outstanding deliverables? I recently bought a fridge from the owner of this business, Jim Vessells. I paid him $900 for a nice Samsung counter depth fridge. From the beginning, it was never cooling down, then we noticed the lights would blink on and off, and the next day we found water underneath the fridge. However, I wasn't worried because I had been guaranteed a 6 month warranty by Jim. I call his phone number and the phone is disconnected. I try to give him the benefit of the doubt until I found the reviews of his business and instantly became worried that I had been screwed out of $900. I contacted Venmo and they told me that there is no buyer seller protection because no one should be selling goods via Venmo. At this point, I had to get ahold of him so I found out where his wife worked. I called her place of business and she gave me Jim's personal cell phone number #winning. As soon as I had his REAL number, he replied to every one of my texts. I don't think his wife knows he sells broken appliances and innocent people get screwed over. Anyway, he ended up refunding me and his Venmo got shut down for improper use. His reason for refunding me was "I don't normally do refunds but this is a counter depth fridge so it'll sell fast." Sad! After I got my money, I went down the street to Lowe's and bought a BRAND NEW black stainless LG French door fridge that connects to my WiFi. It's awesome. It was only $975. Don't waste your time with places like this! I gave two stars because I feel like I was one of the lucky ones who actually received a refund and for that, I am thankful. read more

I bought a washer and dryer from AA when we bought our house. The price was good. Not outstanding, but good. The washer started leaking out the front and I have not been able to reach AA to come out for a service call. I started calling every week and finally got a hold of AA once. He said he would call me back when he got to the warehouse. I never heard back. Now I'm up to calling every couple of hours. ANSWER THE PHONE! I am not a happy customer. read more

Upon arrival, my tenant sent me multiple pictures that it was more than the "slight dent". Anyway, I let that go. What happened a little over a month later was that the oven power switch stopped working. I had made 6-7 phone calls to Jim (including multiple texts) earnestly requesting him for his attention to address the matter. Austin Appliance provided the service needed to get us out of the emergency situation and get our tenants in a working order in a timely fashion. They delivered a working refrigerator in a moments notice with a 1 year on-side warranty and no fine print. limiting the warranty to labor only after a month. We are very pleased with the service received from Austin Appliance and plan to continue using them for repairs and purchases of our 10+ rentals in the future. read more

We are shopping for a double wall oven. On Thursday, September 25, I contacted Austin Appliance regarding a new oven I found on Craigslist. Based on measurements I had taken, I understood that I needed a 24" wide oven. Austin Appliance requested that I supply them the measurements, which I did. Austin Appliance very proactively delivered the new 24" oven that afternoon. It did not fit-- it turns out that my old oven was a 27" wide unit, so the new one needed to be 27" as well. I was surprised that Austin Appliance had not checked the measurements I had sent and had not let me know the 24" would not fit. I felt bad that there had been a misunderstanding about the size, so I gave the installer $40 cash to ease the business' pain of lost revenue. Austin Appliance departed with their 24" oven. Since this unit did not fit, the Austin Appliance owner contacted me and offered to sell me one of their other products. They offered a 27" wide combo (single oven with microwave on top). After consideration, I accepted this offer. They delivered the 27" combo the next day. After the installer had placed the unit inside the wall, I opened it and noticed that *this unit was used.* This was a total surprise to me-- I had expected a new unit, as the oven had been the previous day. I thought over this for several minutes and then called the owner. I told him that we had a problem, since my wife was not home to see this used unit and discuss it with me. The owner proposed that I send the check for payment with the installer, discuss the used combo with my wife after she had seen it; and the owner told me that Austin Appliance would not cash the check until I called them back and informed them that we wanted to keep the unit. This was Friday afternoon, September 26th. On Monday morning, September 29th, I texted the owner to let him know that we had decided not to keep the used combo. I was shocked at the reply: "Sir I apologize but we don't do refunds after we install a unit." I thought he had me mixed up with another customer. I sent a detailed text to him reminding him of our agreement. His response indicated that Austin Appliance had gone far out of their way to accommodate us. I called the owner several times that day and I called him the next day to sort out this bizarre turn of events, but I received no reply. Due to this 180 degree change in a business commitment, I stopped the check that we had given the installer, and I notified the owner of this. I requested that they come retrieve their unit; and I offered $200 as a goodwill gesture, since they had made two trips to my house to deliver units and had hauled off my old oven. I provided the owner a date later this week for Austin Appliance to come and remove their combo unit which I never purchased. I repeat, *never purchased*-- the installation was not complete, I have no receipt, and I had a verbal assurance from the owner that we were not obligated to purchase the unit unless my wife and I decided to do so. This has been the strangest business transaction of my life and is resulting in my first BBB complaint ever. It is like the Austin Appliance of this week is a completely different company that does not honor the commitments that the owner of Austin Appliance made last week. read more

While I don't want to delete the below, I do want to provide an update. Shortly after leaving him a message and posting the below review, he got back to us to apologize and explain that he had some personal issues that caused a delay. He had a dryer (one that matches our washer somewhat, although not the one we originally selected) delivered to us in placement of the loaner quickly after that. I'm not loving the dryer (some buttons don't function correctly), but it's not tearing up my clothes. So I'm going to call it good enough. Per the other reviews, he seems to have provided great service to other people. So I'm updating my rating to 2 stars in hopes that our particular situation just made it more difficult to provide the service and quality of product that he normally would. Perhaps we would have had a better experience if we were able to have the appliance we selected delivered immediately (vs. asking him to hold it in his warehouse) and if we selected one that was already fully repaired. Sorry, I would give him a higher rating, and I do appreciate him finally helping us resolve the issue. But the fact of the matter is still that we moved into our house end of September (which is when we should have gotten the dryer we paid for), and didn't finally get a dryer (other than a loaner) until mid-February. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We were so excited when we found out about this place and read great reviews. We visited him and found a dryer that would match our front load washer well enough. We agreed on a price, and he agreed to hold it for us while we waited about another month for our house to finish being built. We paid the price of the dryer + delivery. He said to call him when we're getting moved in, and he'd have it delivered. So that's what we did. Only, he lost the dryer we had paid for. Nowhere in sight. So that was frustrating. He then said he'd give us a loaner while he looked for another dryer more similar to what we paid for. That loaner broke down a couple times. My husband finally called and said this wasn't working out. We asked him to come pick up his loaner and return our money. However, he said "sorry, I don't do refunds." What? It's not called a refund if you have never gotten the product you paid for! (side note, his repair man finally pointed out that he thought it might be our house. As ridiculous as that sounded, turned out he was right. The builder put the wrong trap on the filter that goes outside the house. I was still really put off that we couldn't get our money back since he didn't have the dryer we paid for). Soon enough, I start realizing that the loaner dryers lent trap doesn't fit the dryer itself. It sticks out a bit, so many of my spaghetti strap undershirts catch around the corner, eventually ripping it up as my clothes dried. This just also happened to one of my favorite dresses. Argh! (side note - I'm not sure my husband relayed this piece of frustration to the guy. My husband does continue to call him asking about our dryer though, to no avail). I'll add that a few months ago, we got a call saying they found our dryer. Wahoo! Only they were waiting on the part needed to fix it. I thought that was weird because I thought I remembered when we paid for it him saying that it was fixed, and all he had to do was more of cosmetic stuff to complete the job. In fact, when we paid for it in August, he even said he would email us a pic of the final finished product in a few days. He didn't. We didn't care about that though. Anyhow, every time my husband called asking about it, he was either told they were still waiting on the part, or that the wrong part came in and they were still waiting. We moved into our home the end of September, and it's now mid-February. We still don't have our dryer, and the guy has stopped returning my husband's calls. I just left a message that is much more rude than I typically like to be, and now I'm leaving a review for the first time in my life. Let's see if that helps... read more
