He came out, spent a few minutes assessing, and told me straight up that low pressure is endemic to our neighborhood--no plumbing work can or should be done. Meanwhile, some of my neighbors had been sold replacement filters and various "fixes" by other plumbers for the same unfixable problem. The second time, we lost hot water. He responded to my call within minutes and asked me to text photos of the water heater. He diagnosed it via text, told me the fix, and I handled it myself. They knew about this issue had had a stock of non-corrosive connectors that worked with the existing Kitec pipes. They did a great job, showed up when they said they would, and did a great job of explaining the whole process. In this new world where private equity companies are buying up local plumbing/AC/electrical services companies and squeezing us with higher prices and low quality service by inexperienced (cheap) workers, it's nice to know and use small, family-owned businesses like Flint Plumbing. It was near emergency status, because if it gave way, and increased flow, it would have flooded part of my home and my garage. With this information in mind, I took to Yelp to get information and bids from licensed plumbers in my area, that could assist me ASAP. I was very clear in my request and stated that I would most likely need immediate service, even though it was a late Friday afternoon and upcoming weekend. I received notification immediately from Clear and Present Plumbing, and began messaging back in forth with David, the owner. He was very professional and thoughtful in his communication, and patient with my barrage of questions. I did receive other communication from some other local, and nationally recognized companies, while speaking with David, but their responses felt generic and not as genuine. I mentioned to David that several of my neighbors had used his services before, and mentioned the company on our Facebook neighborhood page, so I felt very comfortable doing business with them based off of that. We agreed on the time it would be done, and the set cost of the services. The pricing was extremely competitive, especially since I was receiving "after hours" service. David offered me several payment and financing options, as well, which was refreshing. I was advised that his licensed plumber Travis, would be reaching out to me at a specific time frame, on Saturday. Travis contacted me ahead of schedule and advised me he was on the way to complete my project. Travis arrived with a clean work vehicle, uniform, and positive attitude. He completed the work quickly, with competency and respect for my property. He tested that everything was working properly, and cleaned up after himself. I would not hesitate to recommend this company, for any of your plumbing needs.

After talking to a few pest companies, not only did they get the species of ants wrong (acrobat vs carpenter) which affects the bait being used, but they also can't get their story straight. I contacted them about an ant infestation inside my home. The technician who came out placed sugar bait inside to eliminate colony. He told me that an exterior treatment was not necessary at that time. I accepted that recommendation, due to potential exposure for my active dog. Months later, I called to follow up because the ant problem had not been resolved. I was then told the $216.50 treatment of simply adding sugar bait for the interior also included exterior treatment during the original visit. That was surprising because I was never told an exterior treatment had been done. When I asked where it had been applied, they did not give me a clear answer regarding the exterior. Paying for another treatment isn't the issue. If the ants require another visit, I'm happy to pay for it. My concern is that the explanation of what was actually done has changed. Now, they're saying I have to pay another $216 for their services again. Something just isn't adding up. If there's a reasonable explanation, I'd like to hear it. Based on the conflicting information, I have little confidence in their service.

I gave the number to my partner to handle getting a quote and they came the next day. We got an estimate for the initial service since the lawn was over 6 weeks overgrown. We also got a quote for regular service as well. I have to say this is a well run operation and they actually give you invoices and written quotes. We agreed to the quote and we got a welcome letter the next day for service. They came in the afternoon and did a great job with the lawn. The also bag leaves as well. So far I'm satisfied with their service and professionalism. They aren't the cheapest out there but I do value quality work and transparent pricing and business practices. While I could've went with a bigger operation that sends mass advertising, I'm glad to support this small and locally owned business. You can also pay via Apple Pay which is awesome.

Homer's solution was much more simple to just pull it from the breaker box in the garage. He clarified that at night times when the usage is low, the rest of the house won't need much and I could likely safely pull 50Amp without tripping the breaker. And if I did, he said I could just use the charger at half power instead. Cost a fraction of what the others were quoting. He was able to get it all done the next day, took about 30mins. I had a pool of water in my yard near my sprinkler backflow preventer valve. My sprinkler was put in years ago and I also wanted a "master valve" cutoff installed to prevent water possibly leaking from any of my 9 zoned substations. I called Austex Sprinklers to come have a look. Alex came out and found a small leak in my sprinkler system. He also noticed a small leak in my home's main water line that was leaking directly under my leaking sprinkler pipe. I called a plumber to repair the main line. While we waited Alex and his partner dug out and exposed the leak in the main line. The plumber repaired the leak and we left the pipes exposed. It's a good thing the lines weren't covered up. The next day I noticed that the yard line that the plumber had repaired was still leaking. The plumber's company sent out another repair person who fixed the leak. I waited a few days and after I saw that both leaks were stopped I "bedded" the pipes in sand and leveled the soil. That was about a month ago. I noticed that my sprinkler zone 9 wasn't working and called Austex Sprinkler. They sent Alex out in a couple of days and he "laid hands" on the system and got it working properly. I still don't know what was wrong with zone 9 but after he left it was working. I won't mention the name of the plumbing company because I was very disappointed in them. They sent out a plumber with a broken thumb. It was a couple of days later that he repaired our home's line. It was cold and he sat in his truck for a couple hours waiting for the "pipe glue" to cure. He didn't ask if there were any other things he could do "plumbing wise" at our home. And, after all the waiting, the pipe still leaked the next day and had to be repaired by another plumber from that company. I am very impressed with Austex as they performed almost all of the digging for the plumber. They also sent Alex out to fix my zone 9 in a timely manner. They have done such a great job and had such excellent follow up that I am calling them tomorrow to repair another sprinkler system that I own on the East side of Austin. read more

WOW!!! Best service we've ever received at our house by far-and we've had a lot of service people at our house over the years. We recently had a pool built and afterwards needed our sprinkler system redone, new sod put in and a whole lot of new dirt to bring the grass level with the higher height of the pool. We also needed a bunch of rocks placed along the side of our house. Originally I thought we would need to hire one person for the sod/dirt job and another for the sprinkler system--so glad we found it all in one place as I think it made things run a lot smoother. I met with Alex (the owner) at our house and he was super professional, polite and detailed in his presentation. We were in a rush to get our yard put back together and Alex clearly did all he could to get the work done as soon as possible and at a price we could afford. I wasn't sure I would love the look of our new grass because much of our yard would have a new slope to it. But wow, it turned out better that I ever imagined--I love it and I'm so glad we did it. The new sod blended in so well with our grass that didn't need replacing that you could barely tell we had new grass put in. The slope in the yard was done perfectly and even our neighbors were highly impressed with the work as they needed some of their grass/sprinkler system replaced because of our pool construction. The work all started and completed exactly when Alex said it would. After the work was completed Alex came to our house and did a very thorough inspection of all the work, answered any questions we had and made sure we understood how to use the new sprinkler system. I highly recommend Austex Sprinklers. It was so great to have a totally positive, non stressful experience with a home service job--it doesn't happen often. Go AUSTEX!! read more

Had a great experience with Austex Sprinkers. We had a problem with one of our zones that hasn't worked in while. Our system is fairly old, probably 20 years old or so. Found Austex Sprinklers through yelp and gave them a shot given all their great reviews. Gilbert came by and was able to diagnosis the problem in a few minutes. Found that it was some bad wiring from the controller to the sprinkler valve for that zone. During that process found that our double check value was old and had rusted out valve handles. He came up with a great solution to fix the bad zone using an Add-A-Zone device that uses a single control wire pair to control 2 separate zones. This worked since the broken valve was right next to a working one. He said that fixing the double check value repair was optional and that I could also use the main water cutoff if needed. I ended up choosing to replace the old double check valve. He was very methodical in testing to make sure everything worked after the repair. I like knowing the fine details of the repair and he was able to explain why he was doing something step by step. Usually a bad sign if they can't. Professional, friendly, and great to work with. Good communication when he was going to arrive late and let me know before he was scheduled to arrive. I'd definitely use them again if I have any more issues in the future. read more

Austex Sprinklers installed a watering system in my yard this week. Seven zones were installed (front and back) and the full day process went very smoothly. The crew was professional and worked quietly. I opted to upgrade to the Wi-Fi control system and it works great! You download the app to your phone and sync it with the control box. The Rachio app is designed to work with the Austin watering restrictions. I highly recommend this and it is very user friendly. Phillip Thompson, the owner, came out and we discussed what was needed for my yard. A detailed bid was emailed within a couple of days and we decided on a start date. Not knowing what to expect when the work was finished, I was pleasantly surprised to find the yard put back together, the debris swept and picked up. Alex, the field tech, went over everything with me at completion. He is so focused and patient, and went step by step to help me set up the Wi-Fi controls. The whole system was run one zone at a time to make sure things were right. Then Alex adjusted the sprinkler patterns where needed to get maximum coverage. What a joy to not worry about watering my yard. Why did I wait so long? read more

My wife and I recently purchased a new home and received our first two water bills from the City of Austin....WOW!! The amounts were twice as much than we expected to see, so we knew something was wrong. We called 3-4 other companies prior to calling Austex Sprinklers..... strictly from googling the web. None of these companies could schedule us in until the following week. My wife finally called Austex, and they were out here the next day. Not only were they able to schedule the serivce for the next day, they also tried trouble shooting over the phone, so that they wouldn't have to charge us for an onsite service visit...how often do you see that? Ultimately, Austex sent two gentlemen to the rescue. These guys were extremely professional, thorough and FAST!! I regret to say that my experience with Austex Sprinklers has been incredibly disappointing. I've given this company multiple chances to improve their customer service and scheduling methods, but unfortunately, the issues persist. Initially, I attempted to communicate with them through Yelp messaging to schedule an appointment, but it was a challenge in itself. After numerous attempts, I decided to call their office to set up an appointment, hoping for a smoother process. However, my call seemed to fall on deaf ears. To my dismay, not only did Austex Sprinklers fail to show up for the scheduled appointment, but they also didn't bother to respond to my attempts to reach out. This level of unresponsiveness and disregard for customers is simply unacceptable. In my opinion, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've encountered. I strongly advise against dealing with Austex Sprinklers until they improve their communication and reliability. read more

I called Austex Sprinklers because my sprinkler system had not worked for several years, and the company that installed it had gone out of business. I left a message, which was returned by Alex within minutes. After explaining my issue, Alex suggested he might be able to fix it over the phone and proceeded to do just that. With his expert instructions, I was able to find the water valve and determine that it had somehow been shut off. I turned the valve back on, went to the control box, and found my system to be working again. Alex did this for me at no charge and while on his lunch break. I was astounded at his willingness to help me. I'm having Austex come out next week to do a full inspection of the system. Based on my initial interaction, I have every confidence that it will be a very positive experience. My only regret is that I didn't know about Austex four years ago when I had the system initially installed. I'm a customer for life now. read more

Alex from Austex Sprinklers came by to fix this wet piece of grass on my lawn. I kept asking him for a price before he would do anything and he kept giving me a ballpark range and said that he wont know exactly until he starts digging an figures out what is going on. Well i agreed, he started digging and about an hour later he knocked on the door and started explaining to me what was happening. He basically told me that the problem is not as bad as he had initially thought therefore the price range that he gave me earlier was not right. The actual price was a lot lower than what he had quoted me. SO the moral of the story is, he could have charged my the original price point, but he didn't. He answered all of my questions and explained everything in detail. so to summarize he will not charge for something that he doesn't have to to. He is more than fair and honest in his business practices. He has great customer service and is true to his word. thank again read more

Austex Sprinklers was a bit more expensive than others but for what they did, the price was worth it. They were also completely flexible with regard to finishing the work and asking for payment. That is, they began the work in November and came back to finish it in April when the planting was done, explaining why it was best to wait. It's working wonderfully now and the guys who put in the drip lines and bubblers seemed to know what they were doing. The only problem was that from November to April there were three leaks that I hadn't noticed until all the grass was cut and the yard was readied for planting. They were small, but the original workers had left the valves a bit open, one valve more than the others. That said, they came out to fix it. On the other hand, I kept getting invoices for the repair they did which they eventually stopped sending when they realized it was a repair for a problem they had created. But all and all, I would use them again. read more

Austex Sprinklers was recommended to me by a friend after struggling years with different Irrigation companies and their non responsiveness. I live in Kyle and thought it might be too far for Austex to come but it wasn't. Not only did Phil do an estimate for work in a timely fashion but also did the work within a good time frame. I can not rave enough about the two young men who came to lay sod and redo my sprinkler system design. I am forever changing my landscape design so adjustments are always needed. And these two young men, Anthony and Joseph were so sweet to put up with my specific needs and my indecisiveness . They worked with me, and worked tirelessly missing lunch, on a whole day project. There's a reason for all the 5 star reviews. I can't say enough about Austex. I called to get a quote, a few days later Alex came out to my property and was ON TIME for our appointment! I know that doesn't sound like much, but trust me, if you've had any experience with contractors, you know this is a big deal. I even received a "Hey, I'm headed to your property and I'm running a few minutes early- Hope that's ok" phone call! Once there, he not only gave me the quote, but made the repairs on the spot! He even took the time explain everything and didn't get annoyed when I tagged along to see what he was doing. Alex is super polite, professional and trustworthy. We had hired three different companies to complete some fairly significant sprinkler repair work. Ultimately, we hired Austex. Logan did both the estimate and the work for us and was fantastic. First, he gave us a fair price estimate to include adding some lines and changing out both regular sprinklers and drips. Second, Logan was careful in his digging and in his placement of sprinkler heads. The owner of the company - Phil was equally fantastic. When the final bid was sent, it seemed to have been vague, but when I contacted Phil, he immediately adjusted it at my request to be very inclusive of all items Logan and I had verbally discussed. I had to make an appointment a month in advance to get Austex (and specifically Logan) to come out and it was well worth the wait. This is my first Yelp review and I'm writing it because of Logan. I was surprised and impressed that Austex gave me an appointment for a specific time (rather than a window of time). I appreciated Logan calling to let me know he would be a just a few minutes late. Logan was professional, fair, and intelligent from start to finish. After dealing with several other irrigation companies in the past, receiving misinformation and overly high bids, I appreciated Logan's accurate and reasonable approach to repairing our system. Your search for help with your irrigation/lawn sprinkler system has ended. Professionalism, service and courtesy are his trademarks are the trademarks of Austex Sprinklers. They got it all right. From the stuff you expect like answering the phone and being prompt on his appointment time, to the hard stuff like problems that hide other problems. Alex made time to come my house late Friday afternoon on what he expected to be a quick fix. He quickly diagnosed my controller was broken, and then figured out how to fix the things I messed up. I hate to water the yard so I got a sprinkler installed by these young men at Austex. They installed everything and didn't tear up my flower garden. It only too them a few hours to get it finished. Everything is digital so I don't do a thing. My grass is the greenest that it has ever been. The installers were very polite and checked with me before they started to dig. This sprinkler system has saved my life. It has been a wonderful addition to my home. Now that I am starting to get up in age I realize that investments like this will allow me to stay in my home longer. I hope to one day give this house to my grand kids. As a new homeowner, the sprinkler system was somewhat of a mystery to me. I know what they are supposed to do but when mine didn't work properly I was lost. Then I called Austex Sprinklers after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. Alex was extremely professional and after hearing my concerns and that it was my first home, he offered to not only come by and check out my system but give me a crash course in how to use it. He was able to diagnose the problem and fix it in the same visit. Wow! Super happy with the customer service! Alex was the technician assigned to us, and I couldn't be happier. He found the initial leakage problem within 5 mins! After fixing the leak he inspected the whole system, and gave me some pointers on sprinkler coverage and what we could do with some present landscaping to improve the coverage. He patiently, and courteously, answered all my questions. I would recommend Austex Sprinklers to ANYONE. I own home and rental houses. I deal with contractors more than average and Austex is a keeper. One of the best customer service and very good communication during the process. I happened to have 2 projects going on with the rental I'm putting a new sprinkler system in. The other company is the total opposite of what Austex is. Not only the sprinkler installation work is done on time Alex also helped me finished the work the other landscape guy left behind as a courtesy. I had a great experience with Austex - would recommend to anyone! I had sod grass installed, as well as repair on my irrigation system. Tim, Ray, and their crew were very knowledgeable and professional. They took the time to walk through the property before work began, detailing everything Austex would do. Installation crew was quick and professional, installing sod all around our property without any mess - leaving us with a fantastic looking lawn. I had a great couple of guys - Gabriel and Brad - come out to inspect my sprinkler system. They knew their stuff and had an assessment done in less than 15 minutes. The subsequent repair/adjustment on a handful of busted sprinkler heads was also swift. These guys were professional and appreciative of the fact that I obviously had to get back to work when they were done. They also explained their assessment in great detail without belaboring what needed to be done. Fast, efficient, quality work. So, Ive been calling to make appointments to price out what this will cost. Every company I have talked to has been well represented by whomever answers the phone. A very rough voice, kinda what you would here if you didnt want to answer the phone, answers the phone. Its a woman on the other end. I can hear in her voice that she has probably had a tough day. However, Im a potential new client... I ask to make an appointment to get a quote. "Since you're an HOA, we charge a consultation fee. Thats how we handle it.". I say "Well then, I am not interested." and hang up the phone. Let me give you some advice... If you have a potential new client on the phone and the first thing you start with is fee this or fee that... You are not going to get that client. You have no idea the work we want done here or the amount of projects you could have received. In your line of work, if you're good at what you do or charge the amount that is consistent with going rates, you wouldn't need to charge HOAs consultation fees. If I was random Joe Shmow, I wouldn't have been charged is what that tells me. So instead of coming out to show your work or what you could have done to gain more work, you were a bit rude and started with fees. You just lost some business.

And as I was planning to do some landscaping work and lay new sod in the backyard, he gave some advice around how to arrange the irrigation system, and made an easily accessible connection point for a drip system to put into the flower bed, which I ended up taking care of myself later. What I also found very valuable/unique is that I could message Eric asking a question or two about operating the system and send him a video - within 10 minutes he would respond with a helpful answer. I have no idea why these guys have such good ratings... here is my horrible experience with this horrible company and business owner Eric. It started about almost 4 months ago. My irrigation system was not working at all when turning the timer so I looked on Yelp and found them. So I decided to give them a call, like some other low rating users here state, no answer, voicemail, or returned calls... Eric did not return my call it was one of his employees a week later, forgot his name. That should of been my first sign to stop and not allow them to work on my lawn... however, I was too busy to call someone else which is why when they called me I decided to just go ahead and have them come. Once they came, they charged me for checking the system, replacing some sprinkler heads and suggested I changed some of the backyard control valves which they believe seemed to be the problem. I paid over $550 dollars for the hours of labor and parts and they left. Well, to my surprise I came home that night saw the sprinklers running as they should and was happy, however, I woke up in the morning and noticed they were running. So I went and checked the timer, turned it to off and saw the sprinklers go off in the backyard. I then left to work. Later that day my wife comes home to a FLOODED BACKYARD!!!! even though I turned the sprinkler system off it did not stay off it came back on who knows when during the day and it was on all day, backyard was completely flooded and water was running all the way down my front driveway from backyard onto the street, my water bill was way over $400 dollars that month not including my regular $200 bill so over $600 dollars!!!!!!! I was so pissed I called Eric, who then took his sweet time to come back. Since he took so long to come back to fix the issue I manually turned off the main water line that is in front of my house to the irrigation system so that this would not happen again... Well he finally came back and finds out that the issue was with the parts (Backyard control valves) that him and his employee replaced. He then tells me that he fired the guy that did that like if that takes care of all my problems and my high water bill. I then tell him that he needs to reimburse me for the water wasted and or refund me some of the original money i paid him. He refused and said he could not do that, the only thing he could do is pay me back with labor but he will not do anything until the City of Austin can prove how much water it really wasted and what the bill was. I mean, you call this customer services?????!!!! I then dealt with City of Austin to only find out that they only pay 50% of the water overage since I reported it to them and it takes 3 to 4 billing cycles!!! so I had to wait, in the mean time it has been raining a lot in Austin so I have had no need to use the sprinkler system since he supposedly "Fixed it"... so to my yet again surprise I go to turn it on 3 weeks ago or after the week that stopped raining and IT DOES NOT WORK YET AGAIN!!!! so he never actually fixed the damn problem!!!! So i called him and nothing again.... no text message replys, no returned calls, left several voicemails, nothing. So finally after 4 months of dealing with City of Austin and finding out the correct amount of the overage, I email him the receipts from City of Austin and no reply to my email. I text him asking to please reply or call and nothing. It has been now almost a week since I reached out to him and I am just going to call another irrigation service to come resolve my issue and probably yet again pay another 5 to 600 dollars since this guy will not call me back. So I ended up paying him $560 dollars for nothing plus another $400 to City of Austin for his employees\companys mistake and now I still have a bad irrigation system... Well, this was my experience with these people, I have seen some other unsatisfied clients on here, I hope any others out there voice their concerns so that no one else is a victim of this horrible business and unprofessional business owner Eric. I wish him the best but what goes around comes around. I might even contact the BBB to see if there is something else I can do to get at least some money back from this thief. Dont say I didnt warn you and go with someone else for your own sake....

They said that several of my heads needed to be raised... this was going to cost another $800+ just for digging and adjusting the heads - no replacements whatsoever, so I said NO to that - this is too much for this work which I have done myself, and why is it that this was not noticed only 8 months ago.... if the charge for this work would have been less than $200 it would have been reasonable...
