Updated Post: Hindsight is 20/20. I was so stressed out and just happy that things were getting moved that I wasn't being as particular as I should be. I only wanted them to move what I had already packed and the big items such as our beds, dressers, appliance, and items I had already packed. They ended up packing additional items and I agreed to them when I shouldn't have which ended up costing me time and money for them to do so. It cost us $10 per item that needed to be shrink wrapped, they shrink wrapped a folding cat hammock. They said it was due to possible allergies but cat dander was everywhere so how does this ONE item matter? I was very happy they they would take the beds apart and put them back together. We've had no problems there. My biggest problem is with our Ikea Kallax (5 x 5). When they took it apart they did. It label any of the doors to know which insert fit in which spot. When they were putting it back together they did not make sure to line up any of the doors to the holes that were there and some of them aren't even assembled correctly. I offered them the instructions multiple times but they declined. I was too tired to even think about triple checking everything. I was stressing about the time so I told them to just get the inserts in and secured and I will put the locks back on. The ill-fit of the inserts was noticed a few days after moving in and was immediately brought to the attention of the owner (Ricardo). He told me to give him a few days to get a hold of one of the movers and I obliged. When the following Thursday came around I was told that he would reach out to me after the mover was back in town. I haven't heard from him since. Timeline... 11/14 - Moving Day 11/17 - Notice Issue with Kallax 11/21 - Text from Ricardo about Mover Out of Town 11/29 - Update on Yelp! and will be finding someone else to fix the problem. No need to contact me further. I just want to move on and finish getting things unpacked so we can relax. Be very careful with this company. The owner of sold me the business by convincing me that i was not going to need more than 3 men + a truck and no more than a 3-hour service. I was moving a 2 bedroom from Glendale to Burbank. It took them 8:30 hours. It cost me over $1000 dollars. From 8am untill 5 pm!!! He refused to give any discounts when i confronted him about how long it had taken them to finish the move vs how many hours he had indicated it would take. 1st time using this company, fine... well,ok. 2nd time, not so much. You would think that if a moving company has moved your expensive belongings (not being cocky, just real) before they wouldnt hire a mover who has never ever moved anything a day in his life... now you would thnk this right? NOT AURORA. 2 guys show up 8:05am. Sluggish, complaining of how "tired" they are and one worker talking of how he had to move himself that night before and was soooo exhausted. So, me being the nice person I am, went out and bought the fellas Starbucks coffee to go along with the doughnuts I had waiting for them when the arrived. Feed them coffee and things seem to be going ok... all until the inexperienced worker, Carlos, yanks a plug from out of the back of my 60inch. HDMI cable broken. "No big deal," the kid worker, Alex, says "You have more of those and if they don't fit, I will give you the money to buy another one, they are only about $2.00." I later found out this particular cable costs around $25. I'm still waiting for it to be replaced. Next, the inexperienced worker started having a heat stroke, kinda. He needed more to drink so after about 8 waters, the remainder of my roommates lemonade and several breaks he asked me to buy him gatorade. I did. Shortly after that, the guy goes to my kitchen and puts his head under the sink running cold water over his head. This was only about 20 mins after getting the gatorade. He kept needing breaks and fluids. Obviously not an experienced mover. Alex told me he would not count my *double-time since the job was taking so long beause of the guy that kept needing breaks. I then found out that the mover, Alex, had just met, only days before, this inexperienced mover, Carlos, standing in line at a restaurant! He didnt even know this dude. He said that he felt BAD for him because the guy had just lost his wife and didnt have any money... AND THIS IS THE GUY THAT AURORA USES TO MOVE MY HOME??!?!?!??! WTF!!! They couldnt be serious. Oh, but they were. While they were moving my plants, one of my big plants fell over and broke most of the leaves. After the truck was packed they asked me to do a walk-thru and noticed my cat house was left upstairs. I immediately ran outside to tell them, but they were gone!??! I didnt know they were leaving... This first part of the move took 7 hours. I was quoted 4 hours total (and remember, Rick moved me before and knew what all I had). Once we got to my new place, Carlos placed my planters on top of my painting and the frame of the painting got severely scratched. Then, if that wasnt enough, more of my plants were badly damaged (leaves torn off, bent and my new spinach plant bud was missing...). And one of the first things I told the movers was that I am anal about my plants. We see that meant nothing. After all that, I called Rick and attempted to explain my concern and disappointments to him, but I could barely get a word in as he kept interrupting me telling me not to worry and he would take care of it. He came over, saw the damage and basically told me the damage was nothing and he would comp me $70 to take care of my "scratches on my little painting that are no big deal" (his words)and my plants. Argh these guys suck. So, I accepted his small offer and through the whole mix of things completely failed to tell him that his incompetent inexperience worker broke the cable to my HD tv. And Alex begged for me not to tell Rick that he forgot to get my cat house because he didnt want Rick mad at him. I never told Rick this and now, after 4 days, I am suppose to be meeting Alex so he can pick up my cat house and drop it off at my new place. But how inconvenient. And I was asked to keep my mouth shut. Well, my fingers definitely aint keeping shut. I gots to let my Yelpers know of this madness. *P.S. They counted my double-time. Rick told Alex he *had* to. Total time of move: 12 hours Time quoted: 4 hours Money spent: $700+ Letting my people know of these deceitful wankers: Priceless. read more

I used this company last month to move my business from the city of Santa Fe Springs to the cit of Paramount. The time for the move was at 7:00 A.M. I received a call around 6:45 A.M. from ocean (Ricardo's employee) That they were running late and they would come around 8:30 A.M. Around 8:45 A.M I called Ocean and asked him what time they would come and do the move. Ocean told me that they were having mechanical problems and they would come at 10:30 A.M. They did not show up at 10:30. I call Ricardo the owner of the company and told him that I was tired of waiting and asked him when would his employees show up. To make the story short, I was calling them every 2 hours to check on the time they were going to show up. Finally at 3:00 P.M. they showed up. Ricardo' s employees were so tired and ocean asked me to buy them food. One of Ricardo's employee told that they came so late because they took another job that morning instead of coming to my place at 7:00 A.M. Very unprofessional. I will never use this company again or recommend it to anyone else. read more

The movers that were assigned were great and get 5 stars! It's the owner Ricardo who I am giving one star too!!! I called gave a description of my place and he said I only needed two movers, he didn't even bother coming out to my place to confirm if that's the case or how long of a walk it is for the movers to go back and forth. When the movers got there they knew right away at least 1-2 more movers were needed, so I called the owner and requested more guys and he declined bc it was to last minute, even though this was clearly his own fault for not coming out and examining the place like he claims he does for all his customers!!!!! I think he does this bc he makes more money by turning a 4 hour move to 8-9 hour move so he can make more money, horrible business practice Ricardo. Top things off he wasn't willing to negotiate the price at the end even though he knew he was in the wrong, instead he started to threaten to take me to court assuming I didn't want to pay just because I was asking for a discount based on all the problems I had. He was very disrespectful to me and I will never recommend this horrible business to anyone. Will be reaching out to the Americana to have him removed off their list of movers. I gotta hand it to these guys... They showed up a half hour early (scheduled at 9am but arrived around 8:35am) and immediately began working. We discussed prices as I know it's easy to get taken advantage of. They said it would be 4 hours max at 75 dollars an hour. I was expecting a bill of around $300. 3 hours and 45 min later they told us it was only $265! We gave the 3 guys each a 20 dollar tip and called it a day. read more

I have to admit, I was nervous after reading other yelp review but my good friend used Aurora and was happy so I decided to go for it. Miquel was awesome...very nice, called to check in days before and was right on time. Salvatore (spelling?) was also working with him. They were both very conscious of my time since you are paying by the hour and would rush to go to the bathroom or have a sip of water, since it was 100 degrees outside, despite me telling them it was fine to take a minute. Everything was moved safely...no damage to anything. Not my stuff or the apt I was moving into or out of. I don't normally write yelp reviews but I have learned that people really do listen to these reviews and I wanted to let others know that this is a good moving company that I would highly recommend. i will definitely be using them in the future. I know not everyone has the same experiences but my personal experience was great...if you are skeptical, see if you can request Miquel...I really liked him and don't think you will be disappointed. Although I think having additional movers would've have been better because it took up pretty much the entire day, I can't complain for short notice request (called them on Thursday to move Saturday). Rick came to our home to physically assess the furniture and loot we were hauling. His candor and detailed explanation really made him stand out against the 3 other companies we were accepting bids from. In fact, he was the only one who even bothered to travel to leet us face-to-face. The other companies only asked us for guesstimations and pictures. On the day of the move, Rick and his team wrapped, moved and transported everything in our 2600 sq ft home seamlessly and without issue. I have been a long-time closet yelp user and foodie, but haven't become a member until now because i didn't think i needed another social networking site to eat up more time, but now i realize that i have a responsibility to the yelp community who has helped me so many times when i'm in new areas. I've also realized the importance of consumer awareness, and how everyone needs to contribute to commend the great restaurants/businesses and do our part in getting rid of the bad ones. I always wanted my first Yelp first to be about some amazing restaurant i've tried, but sadly, it's about a horrible experience that i'm warning you yelpers about...Aurora Moving Company As for my personal experience... Rick, the owner, quoted us a rate of $70/hr and said he would arrive @ 2pm. He specifically said "no additional cost." On the day of the move, he called us and said his drivers were running a little late, and would be there @4pm, and as a result would give us $25 off our bill. That's fine. What actually ended up happening? His drivers showed up @7pm, 5 hours late. As a result, Rick said he would give us a rate of $59/hr. We're a little irked by now, but at least he's lowering his rate. We give him another shot. His drivers arrive, and come up to our apartment without any equipment, so that they can take a look. They walked around our apartment, and started quoting extra costs. They quoted us $40 to package the TV, and an additional $40 to package the mirror. Another $20 to cover this and that.We asked why? and they said that they need to use tape and blankets. WHAT?!?! what's next? you show up to a restaurant and they charge you for a fork and knife? We called Rick and said, you said "no additional costs." At this point he said, "you can get your own tape or blankets or waive any protection on your furniture." F that, i hung up on rick and kicked out his drivers. i'd rather live out of boxes for another week than give a cent to these guys. We called another moving company an hour later. They said any company that charges you for blankets and tape is not a moving company. HA! See the review below, not all these fake ones posted by the owner. These guys are crooks. They will promise you one thing, and once you're packed and ready to go, they'll show up at your door and change the whole story, and by that time it's too late. Just finished moving with these guys, and very satisfied with their work. Our move was a 2bd apartment move but fortunately we had been moving the small things, so guys really only needed to worry about the big furniture. I was definitely impressed with their industry knowledge as far how to wrap and package the furniture in order to keep it safe and to also make easier to move. The guys were incredibly polite and kept us very informed while moving quickly. Highway Robbery!!! Very disappointed in the experience my elderly grandmother had with them today. My family members (and grandmother) had used this company before and the jobs they had done before were average. Wanting to use a place she had used before (devil you know, versus the one you don't) she went with them again. Huge mistake!!! Today they failed in every way possible. They were late to arrive (called after their arrival time to say they were in the parking lot but then weren't at the truck for me to direct them to the apartment), and once I managed to find them, (nowhere near their truck) it took them almost 30 minutes before they started to actually work. In that first 30 minutes all they did was move a couple of dollies from their truck to the apartment (which is approximately 30 feet from where we had them park their truck) before they actually started doing any work. They worked hard for the first hour, but after that they dragged their feet. Not sure if it was because they were so out of shape they couldn't work for more than an hour or if it was because they were intentionally stalling and moving slow. Even after telling them we would lead them to the new place (as the senior complex she was moving to has a unique entrance and her place is on the far side of it) they took off on their own and almost went the "long and wrong way" to the new place (not sure why they left when I had told them several times to wait and we would lead them, unless they were trying to take too long to get there). Once at the new place I had to leave for a little over an hour while they were unloading (it had taken over 3 hours to load the truck, which was pre boxed items and furniture) and the new place was harder to get to with a longer path from the truck to apartment. Thinking they would need more than an hour, my grandmother said she would be fine with the movers by herself as she'd use them before. When I got back (was gone for about an hour and a half) I found out they had been gone "for a while" per my grandmother and when I looked at the invoice it said from how many hours they charged her, they had left after the time I got back to her place (even though they had been long gone before I got back). This company overcharged an elderly woman at least an hours worth of time (which at $120 is a lot for most folks and a whole lot for her) between their lateness to start working and early departure (not counting the dragging of their feet time). When I called the owner to express how disappointed I was as we had used them before, and wanted to know what was going on, he blew me off saying being "a few minutes late" wasn't worth his time. We won't be using this company again and I'll be letting my family and friends know to avoid them as well (time to try a new devil!). Update: Well after 5 months he has finally gotten back to me here on Yelp after never calling me back, and it's the same BS. He blew us off and never called us back, never told us to call the crew (how could we?), and $100+ dollars IS a lot of money to an elderly lady. Good effort in trying to place the blame and fault on the ones who care for her...I think even less of you now. read more

Miguel and Salvador came to our apartment very promptly in the morning and were very quick and efficient in loading our 2 bedroom apartment onto the truck. They were also very polite and professional throughout the move. The new condo we were moving to had many stairs but they still unloaded in reasonable time. People don't get fooled!!!!! We hired this company for our move... the owner came to our home and gave us an estimate from $2,800-$3,000. All the promises that were made were not delivered... He specifically said that we would not lift a finger and that they would handle everything from A to Z. When the time came for the move, the nightmare began.... let me start with the packing. None of the boxes were marked, so I have no idea where anything is. Does it go in the living room? Does it go in the kitchen? Does it go in the bedroom? Does it go in the office? What a mess... now I'm having to open every box to see where it goes. DOUBLE WORK.. Secondly, they damaged my furniture pieces, broke a lot of my glassware and memorabilia items which have sentimental value, and all he did was give us credit of $$100.00.Their organization skills are horrible... they packed our garage from floor to ceiling with unmarked boxes and even left my second refrigerator filled with food in the middle of the garage, the rest were just left everywhere for us to figure out... we stopped them from continuing to work...the worst part of it all was when the final bill came.... a whopping $5,760.00.. what a waste of time and money. All those promises were down the drain. Instead of having a seamless transition, they made it very STRESSFUL and a living Hell....We had to hire a different moving which cost us more money to finish the job they started.... read more

Rick and his crew are CROOKS. Rick should close his company and think about another career. If you use these people your basically wasting your money. He taught his workers to take there time so they can charge extra. Workers only complaining about "hurry lets finish get our money and leave" but they didn't finish there jobs. We helped them assemble most of the stuff and they wanted to leave and we took most of the small stuff with our cars so they wont spend time on moving them. They took out the refrigerator door and rick came in because they were charging us $870 and we said you guys are not finished yet. Rick asked Ocean one of his workers "can you put the door back" he said am i getting paid for it? Rick said no lets go. So they booked. Rick talks like he is professional moving company. Fantastic! Moving can be a nightmare and good movers are gems. I've moved within 5 cities in the past few years and these guys were some of the best for my small in-city move. Personable, great communication, fantastic rate, nothing broken. I did not get a binding estimate but I felt their rates were fair and they came in under budget so I tipped well. I really appreciated how well they communicated and checked in with me. I was so confident of how respectful and professional they were that I actually went in the other room and napped while they were working!
