a variety of chocolates on display

This shop is upstairs in a strip center. It is small and quaint. Beyond clean! They offer so many candy choices. It was super hard to choose from. They have unique flavors and gorgeous choices. They also have home made marshmallows you cannot resist! I would definitely make a stop here and pick up some gorgeous and tasty treats again!

This is such a beautiful experience at Aurora chocolate, listening and learning how the Taiwanese lady who inspires by the pole light and hand-made all these beautiful chocolates. Picking the chocolates is fun too, because all the chocolates have unique flavors. I picked a box of varieties, and wow! They are all amazing. Very distinguished flavor! Comparing to the other chocolatier I went before, this is definitely one of the best. You should totally check it out if you visit Anchorage.

I'd always gone to wild berry for chocolates, and while they're not bad, Aurora chocolates blew them out of the water. The chocolates are so beautifully designed and unique, each with inventive ingredient combinations that are rich in flavor without ever being overpowering. The women working the counters were so helpful and patient while we struggled to choose which chocolates we should get in lieu of buying up the whole shop :)

    Delightful Bon Bons!

O-M-Goodness! The chocolates and treats here were fantabulous. The Dimond location is rather unassuming at first glance, located atop a building with a vacant downstairs (I haven't been to the Cap. Cook location yet). We were treated to a sampling platter upon entry (heck yes!) and that cinched for us. We splurged on a box full of bon bons, each one a decadent morsel of chocolatey goodness. The customer service was also very generous. The ladies working were more than happy to talk about what went into their products, and also were enthusiastic to answer any questions we might have. Hard to find a chocolate shop of this caliber anywhere, let alone in Alaska. I'd recommend coming and splurging in the divine.

Aurora Bon Bons galore! Each hand crafted and such a treat! ($3 each)

Such a hidden gem! How this place hasn't blown up is beyond me. Their AURORA BONS BONS are the perfect gift. Beautiful, elegant and a for sure crowd pleaser to anyone you gift them to, even if it's just for yourself ;) You can tell that their chocolate is of the highest quality. Not too sweet or artificial tasting, just perfect! Shoutout to Jae, who was both informative and extremely helpful in the selection process as they have both milk and dark chocolate varieties. He informed us that each bon bon is hand painted, making each chocolate a unique artisanal delight! Hard to believe their chocolates could taste better than they look but I definitely recommend trying one for yourself. You won't regret it!

At the moment they don't have any salt water tarfy. They guy who must be the owner or someone told us a story about how they can't get the syrup or rather the buckets to store it in. So no salt water taffy for the past two years but he said they would bring it back in the future. We ended up getting dill pickle pretzels(I didnt like them, they tasted nothing of pickles) and a pack of popcorn in the $5 bin. It was in the $5 bin because sometimes the little square food saver thing doesn't work and it doesn't seel the package. The popcorn tasted fine tho. They had some flavors I would have liked to try like everything bagel but I don't know if they do samples. The other portion of their place is where they make the products, lots of popcorn popping. You can also find their items at waffles and what not down the road and I've also seen them at Walmart in the Alaska section.

Forgot to take more pictures but I'll definitely be back for more. Their taffy is alao advertised as glacier water taffy; not sure if that makes it special but it sounds cool! $6 per bag, taffy or popcorn. I think they make kettle corn fresh in the mornings as well

Props to the produce guy. I visited specifically to buy local sprouts. They were selling some new…read moresprout mixes I hadn't tried, but was interested in, so I checked the price then grabbed a bag and proceeded to the check stand, where I was charged more than the price posted in the produce section. I questioned the checker, who questioned another staff member nearby. They said the price charged was correct. Did I read the price card at the cooler wrong, I wondered. I had declined a receipt--I almost always do--so I dropped the sprouts off in my car, then walked back to check the posted price. That price was what I had remembered. I removed the price card to take it to the check stand. I hadn't really planned what to say, whether to ask for a partial refund so that I was paying the price marked, or what, but, turns out, Mr. Produce Man saw me taking the price card, and asked me what was up. I told him. He said probably they hadn't made new price cards to jibe with the register price yet, then he asked if I wanted a refund. I explained that I didn't have a receipt, so he asked if I wanted another package of the sprouts for FREE! I said yes, but I was uncomfortable walking out with merchandise I hadn't paid for. So he walked me to the door, chatting with me about how much and how fast his wholesale costs were rising. But I gotta say, his response put a smile on my face. He didn't want an unhappy customer. He wanted things to be right. Stand up dude. I'll go back.

Review of New Sagaya City Market - Anchorage, Alaska…read more Five weeks ago, I moved from San Francisco to Anchorage, settling near the downtown area. One of my first missions was to find a coffee spot that felt like home--a place with not just great coffee, but genuine people behind the counter. After trying a handful of cafes, a neighbor suggested New Sagaya City Market, just two blocks from my house. What a win. The market itself offers high-end, quality products. Yes, prices are a bit higher than what you'd find at Walmart or Target, but coming from San Francisco, I was prepared for that. What truly sets this place apart, though, isn't just the products--it's the people. From the very beginning, the baristas here have shown me the most consistent and heartfelt customer service I've experienced since moving to Anchorage. They don't just serve coffee; they connect with you, listen to your stories, and make you feel like part of the community. Today was a perfect example. I slipped in the parking lot (rookie mistake--no spikes on my shoes for the icy ground). After two kind gentlemen helped me up, I walked inside with my spilled coffee. Annie, a new barista I hadn't met before, immediately offered me a fresh cup with such kindness and care. That small gesture meant so much--it wasn't just about the coffee, it was about feeling seen and supported. I also want to shout out Monica and Shea, who I met when I first arrived five weeks ago. They've been consistently amazing--funny, charming, and genuinely interested in conversations about life, community, and even my adventures back in San Francisco. Every time I come in, I leave feeling lighter, happier, and more connected. Thank you, Annie, Monica, and Shea, for making New Sagaya City Market my go-to coffee spot. You've given me more than great coffee--you've given me a sense of belonging in a new city. --- Would you like me to make this version short and punchy for Google/Yelp reviews, or keep it longer and more storytelling-focused for something like a blog or social post?
