Second time I've been here where the pretzel is hard as rock. And when I asked to get a new one, they said it would take 30minutes.

Today, while I was in the area craving a sweet treat, I stumbled upon Kathy's Famous Cookies--and…read morewhat a find! As someone who's a self-proclaimed chocolate chip cookie fanatic and a frequent traveler for work, I've visited my fair share of bakeries. But walking into this little slice of heaven was something special. To top it all off, I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy herself! She was so warm and welcoming, and took the time to show me her beautiful creations--each one a true work of art. You can genuinely feel the love she pours into her craft. I picked up a warm M&M cookie (absolutely divine), a classic chocolate chip, and a few cake bombs that were just out of this world. Every bite felt homemade, comforting, and made with heart. Thank you, Kathy, for making my first visit so memorable. I sincerely hope I find myself back in the area--whether for work or fun--because I'll be sure to stop by for another unforgettable sweet treat. Cheers!

My sixth sense was correct! From the large cookies, diverse selection, to the very warm and welcoming lady that helped us....this bakery was worth the detour home. My son picked the M&M double chocolate chip cookie. It has the most loaded M&Ms in a cookie I've ever seen. The texture was crunchy around the edges with a soft semi chewy center that also resembled the consistency between a brownie and a cookie. I picked the toffee chocolate chip and the lemon sugar cookie. The toffee CCC had a crunchy exterior (probably from the melted toffee) which elevated the usual chocolate chip cookie. The lemon sugar cookie was soft in texture which I liked. I wouldn't have minded a little more lemon taste but it was still good. If this bakery were near where I live, I'd go every week!

They serve up some of the best Connecticut ice creams from local brand like Salam Valley Farms, Praline's, Big Dipper, and Buck's Ice Cream, just to name a few. There are many, many flavors to choose from and toppings that they offer flights. They even have ice cream nachos & affogatos. It's a must to get more than one flavor. I tried a scoop of Blueberry Cheesecake & Raspberry White Chocolate in a waffle cone. They were delicious with a lot of flavor. My favorite was the Raspberry White Chocolate because it had a lot of white chocolate chips. The other people I was with got a scoop of Cookie Monster in a cup and Coffee Cookies n' Cream Milkshake. The staff was super nice and quick with the busy mall crowd. They do have a hand-held menu with the descriptions of the ice creams because the amount of ice cream in the freezers can get overwhelming. The shop opened next to the food court which was very convenient for seating. I really love this new addition to the mall, especially that it is all local ice creams. Five out of five stars all day for me!

My fiancé and I shared a banana split, and it was great to be able to choose different flavors from Praline's and Big Dipper. If you've never had rolled ice cream before, definitely give Ice and Fire located in the food court…read moreat the Connecticut Post Mall a try. They have a fairly extensive menu that also includes boba tea, smoothies, and more! I always opt for the rolled ice cream since that's what they specialize in, and I'm pretty sure they're the only store around serving it too. Expect a bit of a wait though since it's made-to-order and a fairly labor-intensive process! You get to watch them craft your creation on a frozen pan, but it can take longer than 5 minutes to prepare, and even longer during peak times. The texture is denser than traditional ice cream and the colder serving temperature makes rolled ice cream less prone to melting quickly, allowing you to bask in its deliciousness for a longer period of time without it turning into a soupy mess. Personally I feel they go a little overboard with the toppings, so for a slightly less sweet experience, you should definitely customize your order a bit. It's a good option when you want a twist from the ordinary. Although Ice and Fire is Asian-inspired, the offerings are definitely Americanized to appeal to a broader audience. I'm hoping their success paves the way for more shops specializing in traditional Asian desserts in the future! Definitely need a place that offers shaved ice in the area!
