One of the best gems in Milford, Connecticut is Scoopy-Doo's. It is located on the same grounds as the Milford Oyster Festival. Everything about the place is awesome right down to its creative name. Most people would typically eat their lunch and then get dessert. However, with long lines for the oysters, having dessert first was not a hardship. Many of us agreed it was a great decision. Their spectacular flavors are delicious and the service is great. I was adventurous today and instead of my usual chocolate fudge, I branched out this time to the Almond Joy. Both flavors are equally fabulous and next time I will have to get a scoop of each. It is so much fun to sit on the wall to the right side and watch every age from one year to 100 years old get super excited to dig into the best ice cream anywhere. read more

What a creative ice cream spot. They have so many flavors, many of which you've never heard of before. I'm not sure how it all fits in the tiny hut! It's a small spot, but there's lot of nice seating and green space to enjoy your ice cream. Yes, the line can be gone, but as the sign says, "it's worth the wait." The strawberry was one of the best strawberries I have gotten in a long time - pure and with lots of strawberry chunks. The monkey flavor - with banana ice cream and chocolate- was very creative. Tiny ice cream shack that has a solid variety of flavors supplied from Buck's Ice Cream. I got a chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone and it was ok, but not the best I have had. The waffle cone was generic as well. The good thing about the ice cream, however, was that it had a good amount of chips in it. Although their ice cream may not be anything special in itself, the woman working there was very friendly and the area around Scoopy Doo's is GEORGEOUS! The ice cream shack is a cute little shop with very nice views. The shack has a bunch of different flavor ice creams and the staff is extremely friendly. I ordered a basic mint chocolate chip in a cup. The ice cream was good but had some freezer burn. Overall, I wouldn't be in a rush to go back to this location and if there was a line, I wouldn't wait for it. My husband gets back into the car with a small size styrofoam coffee cup... they charged him $4.75 for an ice cream shake in a tiny coffee cup with a coffee cup top, that the second he stuck the straw in it went out the side of the cup. Very good ice cream shop for downtown Milford, convenient for after lunch/dinner nearby. They have a wide variety of ice cream flavors and toppings which make it worth several visits. It's right next to a marina with plenty of chairs and benches so you can watch the ducks and ships float by. Personally, I prefer the Sundae House not too far away (about a mile down the road) if you're mobile. Great if you're near the green space though. read more

Oh man. The cappuccino gelato. Probably the best I've had in a while. I'm never disappointed at this place. It's walk-up, so don't go in the rain. Ice cream is for sunny nights anyway. The sizing is typical nonsensical creamery - one scoop, then kids, then small, medium, etc. One scoop is perfect for after dinner. The only thing better in the area is probably Wentworth's in Hamden. Great ice cream. The staff are fast and very friendly. The portions are excellent. Its located downtown and around the marina. So it offers a nice spot in a safe area to sit. I often drive further down the road to the beach and eat my ice cream there and catch a pretty sunset. The street can get loud at night with the bar crowd making their way to the multitude of establishments. This is a nice town and often these people are just loud but friendly. **Parking can be a pain with the bar crowd stealing spots. Hopefully management can get some signs for reserving spots for only Scoopy Doo costumers. It would improve the experience. read more

This place deserves almost full acknowledgment just by the name! Okey, I don't give them 5 stars because they don't have dark chocolate and they seem to carry the same flavors every year.
