We stopped here during a long drive to Ohio. The place was quiet, with only one other table occupied, though the staff mentioned it had been packed the day before for Thanksgiving. We tried a few items: * The Reuben was packed with meat, though the coleslaw was sparse, even after requesting extra. * The grilled chicken club was decent--though the chicken was a bit tough, the sandwich itself was flavorful with avocado, mayo, tomato, and jalapeño bacon. The bread was greasy but tasty. * The fries were the biggest letdown--frozen crinkle cuts that were undercooked and bland even with the "parmesan garlic" seasoning. * The Cinnabon French toast was the highlight, thick and enjoyable. We stopped in early-lunchtime on a weekday in January as we drove through the area. There were only about 8 or 10 people there. It is a truckstop restaurant, yes. The food was what I expected -- simple and acceptable, quickly served. Know what to order at a place like this at a time like that...that is, think about their kitchen can make that maximizes your chance of decent food. Soup and crackers and simple lunchmeat sandwich, etc are safe...don't expect them to make something elaborate or to keep really fresh fruit for your fruit cup on-hand. Also: While I didn't avoid the place due to the singular (if fervent) report of bigotry on Yelp, I was mindful to keep an eye out and will simply report what I saw (not a refutation, just another data point). There was one person of color there, eating alone, and I didn't get any sense he was being discriminated against. He was served and checked-on just as we were. Again, I have no idea if the owners and employees are awesome people or total bigots. Not only is the food very good, the service is exceptional! I ate the huge buffet and everything was delicious. My server Patsy was the real treat though and the only reason I'm writing this review. Food on buffet was of the worst quality. Their biggest problem however was the disgusting staff member I saw tending to the buffet. She was younger w/dirty blonde hair. She was coughing into her hands and wiping her nose with her bare hands the whole time. She also treated the food like it was her enemy. While the food quality of this place was sub-par, that's not what compelled me to write this review. We always hear about how some people feel oppressed or unwanted in certain places because of their race and/or color. The majority of us who never experienced this, because we are white, just shrug it off since we tend to think that it's either an over-exaggeration or we just don't care. After I visit this establishment, I now have a completely different outlook and understanding of this concept. I stopped here while on a road trip with a friend who is a minority, and not only did the customers constantly stare at us and give us dirty looks, but the waitress gave us the bill to pay before we even started eating insisting that we leave before we even really got started. As we were at this establishment, which was more than 50% filled, we noticed that we were the only ones that were being pushed to leave. While we received the bill immediately and were suggested to leave multiple times, we overheard the waitress talk to the other customers when they were finished and asked them "You sure you don't want more food first, or are you ready for the bill?" With us, it was the complete opposite. While every other table in this place received warm hospitality, we were greeted with hostility and aggression. This was an "all you can eat" buffet, but it was obvious they wanted us to leave before we could even touch our first helping. We didn't even eat our first plate because we felt THAT unsafe and unwanted. It's 2023, but people here have the mindset that it's still 1963. I will say that, as weird as it sounds, I am very thankful to have witnessed racism like this firsthand. It really helped me understand the perspective of people from other backgrounds when they say that they feel oppressed or uncomfortable in certain situations. That being said, I will never in my life, even if it means starving to death, support a business like this again. This place is an absolute joke, and they should just put up a sign that says "minorities not wanted" or "minorities enter at your own risk." Passing through Clearfield on our way to Erie tonight and stopped here for some dinner. The restaurant was immaculately clean and we were greeted immediately. Since it was near closing time, the buffet was closed and they were out of a few things, but what we ordered was great! The burnt ends were perfectly spiced, charred, sweet and tender with a little kick. The BLT was loaded with bacon and the Chicken Fried Chicken was delicious. - Hand-breaded, moist and tender served with yummy, old-school green beans. The mashed potatoes were not homemade, so that would be my only complaint, but the country gravy tasted homemade and made up for the potatoes. We were too full for dessert, but the cakes and pies looked amazing! Our waitress was typical for a diner, warm and friendly. We stopped here at the Sapp Bros trk stop to hang out hat for the nite yesterday Thanksgiving. They did have a Buffett with the standard fare. Stringy bird preplucked in some kind of juicy liquid. I picked out some dark meat. Eh... it's hard to find good turkey in most places. But we ate. Nice finish was vanilla ice cream from the spout! And butterscotch , Carmel, or chocolate syrups. This is a great place to stop when you're traveling across Pennsylvania. The food on the buffet was very good. The fried chicken was amazing. No one really calls this place Aunt Lu's or Sapp Brothers, but just The Clearfield Truckstop. The menu is very typical. No real surprises. They have a buffet that caters to the Truckers. Meat heavy. Tonight there was Ham, Meatloaf, Fried Chicken, and Roast Beef. They also had spaghetti and meat sauce, sausage and peppers, and garlic bread. The price is decent as well. Their desserts however are amazing. All homemade. Their Peanut Butter Pie is seriously the best I've had in a restaurant. If you are on I-80 in Central PA, this is a great place to eat! read more

Some of the BEST fried chicken I've ever had on the "all you can eat" buffet. My wife and son's girl had the soup and salad bar, both said the ham and bean soup was quite good. My son had the "burnt tip" dinner, by the time I asked him how it was, the tips were gone. He said it was very good and spicy and the sides, baked beans and fries were both good and hot. The buffet had ham, roast beef, beef stew/biscuits, sausage gravy, goulash, three kinds of potatoes, five or six vegetables and that GREAT FRIED CHICKEN ! I ate close to a whole chicken before I was getting too full for the dessert bar. I still managed to have some soft serve ice cream with caramel. The buffet was only $11.49 !! With breakfast all day that can't be beat, Aunt Lu's is a local gem hidden in the hills of Clearfield. The coffee was hot and delicious, our server was am absolute dream and if you don't get the steak and eggs (with the 8oz. Whiskey marinated steak), you're really missing out. Even if you don't want the steak, cajole someone with you to get it and take a bite. You won't be sorry. Also, get pancakes instead of toast. This place claims that they are "the best buffet in Clearfield County", and if that's the case then I don't want to try the others. We got the buffet and the food was dry, tasteless, and cold. The "beef" gravy on the buffet was disgusting. This was probably one of the worst meals I've had in a while. So I saw the sign for best fried chicken and went for he whole buffet. Tasted. Every. Item. Awesome food. I can't pick a favorite. Just imagine your best holiday dinners and there you have it. The sauces are rich. The meats are tender and taste like the meat. The desserts are the sweetest and lovingly made. It is obvious. I can't pick a favorite but I especially loved the caramelized bread pudding, pea salad, baby back ribs, meatloaf, baked ziti, vegetable soup brown gravy and yes the fried chicken is so good it should be famous! My partner saw the sign for this place driving back from Lancaster and was curious, so we stopped in. The setting is a little odd. It's part of a truck stop off of I-80. You pull into this little truck-stop style parking lot and go up stairs into a little knick-nack store. Go through the store and there is this little cafe'. We both decided to get the buffet. Tonight, it was ham, roast beef, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, seasoned french fries and broccoli alfredo. Then on the side buffet there was a mini-taco bar kind of set up. It had taco meat, tortilla chips, nacho cheese, and assorted veggies. The meatloaf was so-so... you could tell it had been setting out for awhile as it was towards the end of any sort of dinner rush they may have. The mashed potatoes were good, and tasted home made. With that said, they were very very buttery. The beef gravy was delicious! It was some of the best gravy I've had, and there was even chunks of beef floating around in it. The french fries were also surprisingly good. They had that lovely diner-esque crisp to them, but the seasoning they used really just put them over the top. I don't know if it was a generic all-purpose seasoning or something made in house, but it was delicious. What really surprised me though was the taco meat. In a truck stop cafe you wouldn't expect the container full of taco meat to be any good. And you would be so, so wrong. I ate probably two full plates of just chips, cheese, and taco meat. It was real beef, and the seasoning was perfect. There is a small dessert bar, too, though it is lacking. It has a soft serve vanilla ice cream machine which was really good. There was of course toppings for the ice cream. Other than that, your options are pudding and jello. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. I like small town little diners and cafes, and this fit the bill pretty efficiently. The price wasn't good, but wasn't off the wall either. I think one buffet plus drink is $14. I do definitely plan on going back. Whether or not I get the buffet will depend on if the taco bar is out that night. If not, I would gladly try some of the made-to-order items. read more

The beef was good but the mashed potatoes were tasteless and runny and the gravy tasted like it was out of a can. Service was very friendly.
