This isn't an upscale eating spot, but for the price you pay, it doesn't need to be. But I am surprised at the negative reviews. I have eaten at King's Buffet a few times, and my parents regularly eat there. I found the food tasty and fresh, more so than other Chinese buffet restaurants I have been to. The buffet was plentiful with an adequate supply of everything. I didn't eat anything that was poorly done, although of course, not every dish is to everyone's taste. The owners are friendly; the one gentleman even remembers my elderly parents and bring them their decaf coffee. I highly recommend trying it out. read more

There are two main issues with King Buffet: 1. The building is way too small to even walk comfortably and the buffet's limited selection reflects this. 2. The food frequently drys out in the pans and I end up pulling stringy chicken out of my teeth like it's beef jerky. It's okay for the price but I usually choose the other buffet option. read more

Some of the worst General Tso's ever. Completely mushy and gritty coating. The Lo Mein was a wierd yellowish color and tasted like nothing but cabbage. China King wouldn't answer so we were forced to get to-go from King Buffet. Will not make that mistake again. Avoid at all cost. read more

As stated in other reviews, I don't like buffets, but I am a good sport. Not my choice, but it was the choice of an elderly family member who really wanted to take hubs and me here. I think this location was formerly a Wendy's/ Arby's/whatever. We arrived exactly at lunch time and it was packed with students from the university and lots of locals. The buffet area is rather small, but one can load their plate with a variety of Asian-American food items. The buffet was replenished frequently and attended by staff to avoid a mess. The counter person was very busy but still courteous and helpful with my relative. It was difficult to navigate through the crowd, but it that may have been due to the time of day. I think waiting until a little after prime lunch time would be less crowded, but maybe the food wouldn't be as fresh. As for the food, it was fine considering that I been to a lot worse. I took small portions to try a variety. I liked the sesame chicken, spicy beef and peppers, but the vegetable LO mein lacked something. Egg rolls and pot stickers were very good. There was a nice variety of choices for dessert. All and all, I think it was better than other similar buffets I have come across. read more

Great Chinese food for the area. I don't do buffets, but this one I make exceptions. The food is fresh. They keep the buffet area clean and well stocked. It's not a huge buffet but ii think that helps keep the dishes they do create tastier. The kitchen isn't running its bag off to keep a huge area stocked with too many options. I've been eating at the King Buffet for at least 25 years. I can safely say their food is always fresh, consistent, and delicious. I try to support all the restaurants in and around Indiana, and King Buffet provides more than an ample portion at a reasonable price point. Each entree will give you two meals even if you're a big eater like I am. With COVID and the restraints placed on all eateries, it's great to have a local family making and serving up fresh take out. Yes you may have to wait, yes your food may be a little less desirable looking when you get it home, (I dare you to try to keep your McDonald's food hot and fresh until you get home, their fries can't make the trip) but The food tastes great. Argue all you want over how long you may have to wait in line, or how your food looks when you get it home, but no matter what anyone says, the quality and flavor are exceptional from King Buffet. And when the restrictions lift, get your butt into a table there and enjoy great Chinese-American food made fresh and some of it is even sourced locally. It's a 5 star place, just be patient because the car-line can get long. If the food was bad, there wouldn't be a line! This family hustles to provide quality food with efficient service and I appreciate it. read more

It's a staple of being a college student in Indiana, PA. Price is currently about $10 per person for dinner buffet, which includes some mediocre crab legs that seem to have been left boiling for far too long, judging by the water that spills out of them and their hard-to-break-because-they-bend shells. But it's a Chinese buffet after all, you're not there for the crab legs. Excellent staple (Americanized) Chinese food items, including lo mein, chicken/beef with broccoli, wonton soup and dumplings. Everything has a good night or a bad night usually, with one of your favorite dishes being suddenly inedible when it was absolutely superb just the week before. Just take a small bit of everything, and you should enjoy your meal there. They have a few tries at American food on the buffet, like broccoli with cheese baked into it, for those who may come along with you and don't particularly like Chinese food. I can't speak to their quality though, as I haven't tried any of them, nor do I know anyone who has. The rest of the buffet is just too delicious! Beware though, the low price buffet style indeed attracts some interesting customers... don't say we didn't warn you. Also, the owners are very friendly and usually just stay out of sight and out of your way, with one person bussing the tables at a time. read more

Most of my friends like King Buffet, but I'll tell you up front that I am not a fan. I like buffets, but this just isn't one of them. My reasons: It seems kind of dirty to me, but maybe that is only because it is a converted Rax Roast Beef restaurant. Or maybe it's the patrons that make it seem so. (Those low prices attract an interesting group of diners.) Maybe it is the spilled food all over the buffet. Or maybe its the messy, self serve ice cream tubs with the remnants of all the flavors in all the tubs from careless scooping. It's just not up to my standards of cleanliness. In addition, the food does not have a good appearance on the buffet. Sadly, the taste isn't much better. They do have crab legs, but they seem like the leftover scraps from unintact clusters. Most of the food simply doesn't seem hot enough, temperature-wise. But there are many who would disagree with me. And I must admit it is a good value. All-you-can-eat at a good price. Amazing food, and drinks are included...coffee or soda. Yummy options like broccoli and chicken, walnut chicken, pork and mushrooms, shrimp, and egg drop soup. Ice cream is offered as are other desserts. The staff is so so nice and always friendly, they clean the tables quickly. Ample parking too. Very good experiences there. Everytime we have gone, the food has been fresh and hot. Not like some buffets where you can tell it's been sitting there for hours on end. Most of the food is good. Drink is included and they also have a variety of hot soup and desserts. Haven't been disappointed yet for how inexpensive it is. Although I would like to point out general tso chicken could use some help. I like King Buffet. Mainly it is great because it's a buffet which I Love buffets & it's cheap. For $9 you can usaually get a good Chinese-based buffet with some American touches to make it a nice experience. The relativity of the buffet makes it cheaper than China King, or the MayFlower Buffet. It's Location makes it have an advantage over both. China King mainly does take out because of its location whereas King Buffet has its own parking lot. Mayflower Buffet is a boxed in atmosphere when it comes to the parking lot. Hence the King Buffet has a friendlier atmosphere. read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurants in Indiana. I love the honey chicken and their wings. Lunch time you can eat relatively cheap and do some serious eating. Decent lunch buffet in the area. Standard fare... dumplings, fresh soup that definitely hadn't been sitting long, and a variety of food. I thought the honey chicken was pretty good and veggies in the chicken+mixed veggis were crisp and nicely cooked. The place was clean with fresh batches of food continuously being brought out. I love King Buffet. Let's get it out there - it is not the best buffet I have ever seen (that honor goes to one in Pittsburgh) nor is it the cheapest (that honor goes to ones that give you food poisoning). However, for a small-town buffet this place is great. It has character - it was started in an abandoned Burger King (which is clearly visible if you consider the outside of the building with its characteristic fast-food windowed seating area), but it's been re-worked with great success. The seating areas are slightly cramped but at least the tables are gorgeous if you don't have anything else to stare at while you're eating. And they offer some nice Hershey's ice cream (they rotate their 6 featured flavors occasionally) to finish off your meal on hot days. The food itself is why this restaurant gets a 4 instead of 5. I don't consider myself a "buffet gourmet", but out of the ones I've been to, this one's food is not top in selection nor taste. They do offer chicken, pork, and seafood dishes (a few of each), plus two or three soups, egg and spring rolls, chicken nuggets and veggies (steamed green beans and broccoli with cheese). The selection size is fine; there's a little bit for everyone, and there's not really room for more, but sometimes I wish they'd rotate the menu to get more variety. You can pay a bit extra in the evenings to add crab legs for dinner. My biggest complaint is the chicken dishes - sometimes the General Tso's is more fat than chicken, and their sauces are very thick and sometimes overpowering. I have found a selection of about 1/2 their offered dishes that I can and will eat regularly, which still offers more than enough food for their $6.50 weekend lunch, but some people may find themselves disappointed. King offers both take-out and eat-in service. We have never tried the take-out but it's charged by the pound, so if you plan on eating a large meal it's probably better to sit down with it. Prices are comparable to the other local eateries and since this -is- a buffet you can eat your money's worth. Just be warned, the food is proven to cause gas! :P This buffet really shines in its ownership despite the only average food. The owner is friendly and courteous and remembers repeat customers every time. He has never been rude or short with us even on the busiest of days and he is always keeping busy when he's not taking money. I have seen him fixing the waterproofing around the widows, gardening, washing dishes in the kitchen, busing tables, refilling the buffet table, and unloading delivery trucks right alongside his staff. It is his dedication to the restaurant that makes it a great place to eat and a better place to return to. If you're in town and like a good buffet, this is definitely something to check out. If you don't like it, Eat 'n Park is right up the street. read more
