Aunt Jake's on the Upper East Side is an Italian restaurant offering pasta making classes and a three course meal for a cool $60 per person. This is the best value cooking class we've done in NYC. You start off by making four different fresh pasta shapes (farfalle, garganelli, pappardelle, and spaghettini) that you package up to take home with you. You then enjoy a delicious three course meal. We went for the Caesar salad and meatballs for our starter, rigatoni allá vodka and garlic pecorino spaghettini for entrees and finished with the brownie sundae and doughnuts with salted caramel sauce. All of the food was hearty and comforting. We love places where you're able to customize your pasta and sauce and found both of our pastas to be delicious. The vodka sauce and both desserts were highlights. We think for $60, this class value can't be beat. The large portions and the generous amount of fresh pasta make this class well worth the money

Upon our arrival, we found parking right in front. It was three of us who joined each other for this wonderful experience. We made friends with the people right next to us. I love that they take your order first before you go through the experience of making the pasta and at the end your food is ready. Everything is delicious. Drinks were great and so was the company. The instructors were wonderful and the server was accommodating one of my friends did not like her drink, and they happily made it to her liking. I would come here again great for a date night or time out with friends.

Aunt Jake's pasta class here is so fun! I've done the class twice with work and each time I left so full and with plenty of pasta. With the group class we had about an hour of pasta making where you take home four cuts of pasta plus a all of fresh dough to roll out at home, then a preset dinner. Their white chicken bolognese and calamari were incredible, would definitely order those again!

Aunt Jake's was a great experience to learn how to make pasta and fun event to do with some friends or date night. You get to bring the pasta home and enjoy a delicious meal.

My mom and I took Aunt Jake's pasta making class & it was such an amazing experience! It was both of our first time ever making pasta from scratch and they made it so fun and easy to follow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was patient & engaging & the whole night felt special.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks were strong (in the best way) & delicious. The appetizers were incredible & sitting down to eat the pasta dishes made it even better. Such a fun and unique night out! highly recommend for a date night, girls' night, or family experience!

The FOOD was amazing! And it was a really fun and cute spot to celebrate a birthday in the pasta making class. Would love to return.

Went with a group of four for the pasta-making class. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were asked to wait outside which was rough since it was freezing. A few others arrived early and gathered around, we all bonded over our shared discomfort of standing in the cold. We were let in right at our scheduled class time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once inside, it was clear how small and intimate the space is. There's really only room for the class itself. It genuinely felt like being in an Italian kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The class is held around one long table, probably accommodating about 14-20 people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You're given an apron and a drink, and then the class begins. You spend about an hour making several different types of pasta, which are boxed up for you to cook at home later. Afterward, you move to a small dining area where they serve the meal you selected upon arrival. Everything was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned across the board. I still dream about that lasagna. The Caesar salad was dressed just right, and the donuts were served hot: crisp on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Overall, this was such an awesome fun and memorable experience.

Aunt Jake's was such a fun pasta making experience to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday! We were a group of 8 among others in the class. Our instructor did a great job of walking us through the dough making process, coming to check on everyone throughout. We learned to make dough and were given separate rolled out sheets to practice making different pasta shapes. We opted for the bottomless wine/sangria option to drink throughout the experience. After making pasta, we sat down for a 3 course lunch, which was delicious. Such a fun way for us to kick off the day! I'd recommend this to anyone in the city or even those visiting like we did. We couldn't travel with the pasta, so luckily we were able to cook and test it at our Airbnb.

We had so much fun making handmade pasta here! $60 includes appetizer, main course and dessert, which is valuable. Recommend Shrimp Scampi and risotto for main dish! Mussels and calamari for appetizers

This has made it to one of my top favorite things to do in New York City! It's been on my list for a couple years, but I finally made a reservation recently to do a pasta making class on a rainy Sunday afternoon. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It started at 12:30, and once we all got in to the restaurant, we were at this super long and wide table with about maybe other 15 people in the class.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are hooks for your belongings, and aprons for everyone to wear. Carmine was our instructor and he was incredible. The pasta making itself took maybe an hour and a half, and we learned how to make four pasta shapes, including farfalle, garganelle, pappardelle and tagliatelle. We also took home a ball of pasta dough we made which could be used for making more pasta shapes. After we were done, we sat down at our dining table and enjoyed a three course meal. This was such an incredible value for $60, not to mention the portions of all of the food were huge. I ordered mussels for my appetizers, as well as a butternut squash risotto for my main, and then an ice cream sundae for dessert. We also got complementary focaccia bread for the table, and I ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir for the table. We were done eating close to 3:45pm. I would highly recommend coming here for a date idea, or with friends!

Loved this experience! Got to meet some people and enjoy my time with my partner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space was nice and the instructor was hilarious and still very attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks and food were great. Happy I got to check this off my list!

Visited the restaurant for a friend's birthday event. We were a group of 12. We were seated on time and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We sat down and ordered our drinks. Thereafter we moved to the main table (standing) where an instructor (ex- marine with a great ability to project his voice and tell jokes) guided us through the pasta-making class. I thought we would eat the pasta we made, but we did not. Instead, you take that home and receive instructions on how to make it. Unfortunately, I forgot about the pasta in my fridge and I had to toss it out as a result. I know, a shame. Moving on . . . The food was made in house and was served family style and it was plentiful. The birthday girl even took some leftovers home. As my drink I ordered a rose sangria and it was very good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cute restaurant and the activity made it even better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food is great and so is service. Overall, 5/5! Stop in!

This was a 10 out of 10 experience. Came here for the pasta making class with some friends. It was so much fun. The teacher (Carmine) was phenomenal. He taught us and kept us entertained the whole class. Dinner was served with some focaccia bread appetizers. We ordered a variety of different pasta dishes. Included with the cost of the class you get a three course meal with a choice of appetizer, entree, and dessert. We also ordered drinks, which are additional. The drinks were so delicious. You could tell quality ingredients and real fruit is used. If you're thinking about attending, don't hesitate and just do it. You will have a great time!

    Is there wine available?

    Yes they offer wine

Do they have good gluten-free options?

I'm not sure about other menu items but I know there are definitely good gluten-free pasta selections - you choose your own pasta and sauce, so you could very easily select gluten-free options!

Do you accept reservations for outside? I was in an accident and can't stand long? Thank you…

We shared Betsy's Mom's Clam Dip, Mushroom Toast, Bitter Greens Salad, Minted Lamb Meatballs, and duck pâté. The meal opened with the clam dip; cool, lush, and briny, with a creamy oceanic richness that coated the palate; followed by a tangy, salty depth that clung to each crunchy bite of bread. The Mushroom Toast followed with deeper savoriness: earthy, almost forest-floor mushrooms, warm and tender, turning silky as they soaked into the bread, while the edges stayed crisp and toasted, adding contrast to the woodsy umami and subtle garlic warmth. The Bitter Greens Salad provided a bright, palate-cleansing break that included crisp and peppery greens with a sharp lemony dressing that snapped on the tongue, layered with faint fennel sweetness and the nutty, salty bite of shaved parmesan. The Minted Lamb Meatballs arrived richer and more comforting, tender and juicy with a gentle gamey depth, lifted by fresh mint that cut through the richness, and a cool, tangy tomato-yogurt sauce that added creaminess and brightness in equal measure. We finished with pâté--silky, dense, and deeply savory, with a faint iron-rich intensity and buttery smoothness, especially when spread on bread with sharp, briny pickles that added crunch and acidity. Each dish felt intentional and well-balanced for sharing, with varied textures and temperatures that built naturally across the table. I'd happily return to explore more of the menu.

The menu is fairly on the basic side - mainly drinks and pastries and there is some sandwiches. We decided to get the hot chocolate with whip cream (the whip cream is very needed). It was very rich, thick and delicious and not "too sweet." The whip cream really makes it more creamy and it does not really add to the sweetness which was good. We also got a side of Salame e Formaggio which I would recommend passing on because the cheese was kind of hard and not that great. The salami was good and honestly I'm not a fan of olives but my friend who liked it enjoyed them. Overall - a cute place to stop by for a hot chocolate and maybe a pastry!

The sfogliatella, which is supposed to be light and crisp, was clearly stale and chewy, although they warmed it up which was a helpful touch. The hot chocolate was reviewed on Instagram as being super rich and decadent, but it was made from a mix that smelled oddly similar to Swiss Miss. the machiatto was also quite watery. Though they didn't serve the sprite-infused red wines I enjoyed in Spain, they did serve white sangrias, which were light, sweet, and very enjoyable. The toasted bread with tomatoes was bright and summery. The grilled asparagus was cooked wonderfully al dente, with a char that added a nice smoky flavor against the clean taste of the drizzled olive oil. The beef skewers were well seasoned and fatty. While the food was Spanish, the prices certainly were not! It was a tad pricey. There wasn't anything below $13 for their small bites. I chose the shrimp in garlic sauce (oil) that I sopped up with the accompanied bread, the dates wrapped in bacon (they do their own twist by filling it with honey ricotta stuffing and finishing it with a red wine reduction), I also went with cod fish croquettes (the perfect crispness on the outside and a delectable creamy texture of fish inside), I can never pass up the patatas bravas, so, I got those too.
