Walked around Travestere and was recommended by a local to try this place out. Had to wait around 30 minutes for a table. Food was mediocre at best. Pasta was a little too chewy for me and meat was a little tough for my liking.

Augusto was the highlight of our dining experience in Rome. It is an absolute MUST VISIT. The menu is short and simple with no frills. But we ate two dinners here and everything we ate was spectacular. I can highly recommend the veal and rabbit. My husband and I both agree that we got the most value for our money at Augusto when compared to all other meals we had in Rome. For example, for one dinner we order one liter of house red wine, bread, veal dinner, pasta dinner, and two orders of roasted potatoes. Our bill came to 33 euros and we were stuffed when we left. The restaurant is in a very fun neighborhood! The area is very lively at night and on the weekends. Both dinner we had here it appeared that it was mostly locals eating there. The building is not fancy, but trust me that this will be a very memorable meal.

Utterly amazing trattoria in the heart of Trastevere. Easily the best meal I had in Rome. Everyone here is very nice and welcoming. The menu offers a lot of tasty options. I ordered both the cod and lamb, and they were both flavorful! The cod was in a tomato sauce with olives and onions that was delicious and juicy. The lamb was incredibly tender with a hint of spice that made it really interesting. Couldn't say no to a carafe of wine for 4 euro, either. If you find yourself in Trastevere (which you should because it's an awesome neighborhood), you absolutely have to dine at Da Augusto.

    Lamb! Delicious.

My BnB service suggested checking out the Trastevere area that is filled with good eats and local entertainment before finding Augusto that was recommended in our guide book. This area has a lot of charm and local flavor in comparison to a lot of the more touristy areas in Rome. Almost none to very little amount of tourists can be spotted here so that is a big plus! The food here is simple and comes in small portions so that you can try different dishes. Menu is pretty straightforward but the servers are happy to explain or answer any questions about the dishes if you ask them. The ambiance is very cozy and casual - and fills up very quickly! They open at 8pm but by 8:10, it was already 75% filled! We tried the Consomme (beef stock soup), Braised Lamb, and Sausage in their Tomato sauce. The bread goes great with the consomme, which is packed with hearty flavor. My favorite was the Lamb - tender and almost falls off the bone! Flavor was on-point for any lamb lovers. They do not charge a service fee, just FYI! ;)

We almost ate dinner here two nights in a row on a recent trip to Roma, but pushed ourselves to try a new restaurant the second night. We arrived right when the restaurant opened at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night and barely got one of the last tables, so plan ahead if you don't want to wait. We got rigatoni with cheese and pepper (like cacio e pepe but with rigatoni) and that night's pasta special, which turned out to be the best lasagna I have ever had. Hands down. The pasta was melt-in-your-mouth silky, crispy in parts on the outside and so tender on the inside. I might cry just thinking about it. The rigatoni was simple but perfect. Don't miss the pine nut cake for dessert -- unique, not overly sweet and so delicious. Augusto is a very traditional, no frills restaurant in the charming Trastevere neighborhood. I strongly disagree with a previous reviewer who called it a "tourist trap." Service is quick, but don't expect to be doted on by the servers. Do expect satisfying, high-quality Roman cuisine.

This spot was recommended by a friend who said it was the best lamb she's ever had. She was right! I was highly impressed with this local spot, from the instant service (they cook everything before so it's ready at opening again at 8 pm) to the melt in your mouth meat. I was told to get there a half hour early but we were 15 minutes early and didn't have a problem. But try to arrive around opening time to get the best food. Take some time to walk around the Tratstevere while you're here - it has a strong local, authentic vibe removed from the tourist sections. A charming neighborhood. I'm going vegetarian when I get back to the states and am 100% happy with this being my last meat dish. Only cash, so being euros, and a meal with desert and wine for 3 was only 37 euros. Pretty cheap for such high quality food that feels like it's coming straight from an Italian grandmother's kitchen.

    Catastrophic cacio e pepe. Inedible

ALERT: TOURIST TRAP! Augusto is yet another of those traditional Rome restaurants that have sold their soul to the devil of easy profit with foreign tourists. Food here is NOT ok, trust an Italian who has some experience with Roman cuisine. As I sent back my rigatoni cacio e pepe the waitress asked me: you didn't like it? I answered: of course not, this is not the proper way to make cacio e pepe. She admitted: I know, I'm sorry. The house wine by the glass was practically vinegar. Shame on you dear Augusto.

This place was comically bad. Shortage of clean glasses. Abominable service. Hopefully. They were short staffed.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

I had possibly the most amazing chick food pasta a girl could imagine. Girls know what girl food is. The pasta in Italy is just better -obviously. But then put all sorts of girl flavors on it like Lemon and Orange, just lightly enough, zest with a small hint of cheese-..... omgosh. Yes, yes, and yes. Need my hubs to replicate at home. He is going to be busy trying to perfect this. Tagliatelle with orange and lemon parmesan. This was it. It was the best. Everything else we ordered was amazing as well. Wait outside. They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

So happy we did as this place definitely delivers. There is seriously like 8 tables in the dining room so expect a wait in line but trust me, it's worth it. We waited outside for about 25 minutes. They do take your order while in line so the wait for food (once you do get a table) is abbreviated. Out of the world pastas and the pistachio tiramisu is seriously out of this world. Inexpensive table wine rounds out a great meal. This is the type of place I love to go to. It's quaint, zero pretense and delivers on its food. A great find!
