Had a not-so-great experience with Auffenberg. After my car was hit in a parking lot and sustained extensive front end damage, my insurance company selected Auffenberg to conduct the repairs.
While it seemed like they did a good job at the time, I began to experience severe rusting in the new fender after a few years. It appeared to rust from the inside out, and it necessitated an entire replacement of my fender.
I was disappointed by the need for a fender replacement, but what bothered me more was that it took a few months of back and forth before they basically said the best we can do is charge you about $800 for a new fender. It seemed a little crazy to have to pay that much money because their repair work failed.
Ultimately I contacted my insurance company, who took care of the issue through their warranty that I had previously not known about. The part was replaced at another body shop, and the parts, labor, and rental car were taken care of, so I didn't have to pay anything.
I don't know where the breakdown came from, but ultimately either their parts vendor gave them a junk fender, they didn't properly seal the fender to allow water to rust the parts from the inside out, and they attempted to insist I pay for their mistake. It's incredibly disappointing, and I hope no one else makes the mistake of getting their auto body work done here. read more
