When things go wrong (which is rare), they quickly respond to phone calls or emails. They have advocated on my behalf to save me thousands of dollars. If you're considering high end audio equipment, and you want to ensure you will received personalized care suited to your system and budget, run to AVI in Marin.

Sales rep Dave Costa was dismissive, patronizing, and completely misunderstood basic product specifications from the start. He repeatedly insisted that self-contained wireless speaker systems require external speakers, conflated them with separate streaming amplifiers, and aggressively attempted to upsell expensive component stacks while completely ignoring my explicit space requirements. When I clarified what I was looking for, he doubled down with unsolicited lectures about my budget, patronizing comments about how I conduct audio comparisons, and backhanded insults toward reputable brands. As an audio professional, I expect a specialty dealer to listen to customer requirements and understand the gear they sell. Assuming a specific form-factor request equates to a lack of budget, and talking down to customers because of it, is terrible business. I will gladly take my business to another high-end audio dealer that values customer service and knows their inventory.

Emails with product information were incorrect and took multiple attempts to get accurate information. They called me back a couple times on the wrong phone number. Reason I didn't answer - it's not my phone number. My correct phone number was right on the receipt! It started when they called me to pick up my TV and was told upon arrival that it wasn't there. There's an hour in my life I don't get back. No one picks up the phone there - not in sales and not in service. No way to leave a message and the phone goes on eternal ring. More time sucking. Emails and phone calls go unanswered and take several days to receive responses. They'll probably say they'll call you at 10, but instead call you at noon. The sale has already been made, and it's very clear you are no longer their priority, nor do they care about your time, their personal reputation, or their company's reputation. Turn'em and burn'em. They don't stand behind the products they sell. Did they once even hint at apologizing for anything that transpired - nope! They attempted to make a profit off of my warranty issue by selling me a second full-rate installation. I had already paid someone to install the defective TV, now I've got to pay them, with profit? At least give me a discount. If you want expert advice, this is a great choice. But, after you get the advice, go somewhere else to buy what you want at a place with decent post-sale service.

First they brought me the wrong TV . It was a 4k tv not an 8k and these guys swore that it was the correct TV but I stuck to my guns and kept telling them I bought an 8k tv. At the end I was correct and these clowns had to take the tv back and bring me the correct tv ( it's a $2,000 difference in price from 4k to 8k tv). So they needed to go all the way to the third floor of my house and do 2x's the work since they don't know how to read tv boxes which clearly show 8k & 4k in huge letters. Btw this was all during covid and I told them I didn't want to much traffic going through my home . Well that didn't happen as they needed 4 ppl to install one tv. Then the install was horrible as they drilled extra holes in my wall (they did not measure correctly the first time) & they damaged my furniture when they dropped a drill on it ( my furniture was very expensive). Now I'm going through technical issues as the soundbar is having issues with the TV when using arc. They did come fix it but now they need to come hide another wire behind the wall . The remote that I paid about $500 for with custom programming works when it wants to . I don't know what else to do do I called a customer service phone number to complain only to be told that the magnolia brand will be going out of business. Like wtf . Now I'm gonna be stuck with shitty tv soundbar & remote that are not compatible with each other????? My wife is so upset and she constantly reminds me of the terrible time she is having with the remote. I bought a system from magnolia 15 years ago and that system works better than this new one but it was almost $20,000 and is installed in my theater room . My three other system which are in my living room and two kids bedrooms also work better and were purchased at Best Buy. Those are Sonos, Bose and LG sound with LG and Samsung tvs . As of now I hate this place. Message me if you would like pictures and videos as I have documented everything and will be speaking to my lawyer if this does not get fixed asap.

I noticed that lines of the back mirror is more triangular than square. So I called them if there is a software update available for the unit. They said it's adjustable by setting. So I went the shop last Saturday. And they showed me how I can adjust the line the way I want. I feel their customer service is outstanding and highly recommend if you want to install a blue tooth backup camera for your vehicle. Quite often sales people are nice when you try to buy something. But after you buy a item, most salesman don't care about the service. But they are different. Hatch took care my issue. He is excellent. Thank you very much.

I made an appointment, dropped the truck off, and picked it up at the end of the day. They are COVID conscious and are respectful of personal space, so you don't have to worry about your space being invaded during a pandemic. The construction out front is a bit confusing, but they have their own private driveway / access to their shop just off of Pine Street behind the gas station. They used the existing, original speaker space to install the new ones, so everything looks the same, but the sound is MUCH better! They also insulated inside the doors, keeping the sound inside the cab. I use the truck for off road adventure, and they assured me the connections would be solid and not come loose. They also made it known that they stand behind their work and product and would address any future concerns should they arise. All in all, a great shop - These guys have been around for years and years and I highly recommend them.

I came in as someone just getting into the high end audio market, surrounded by gear I could only dream about, and Spencer never once made me feel unwelcome or out of place. I've visited other stores where you can feel judged the moment you walk in based on your wallet size. That was never the case here. As someone around my age with the same passion for amazing sound without millionaire budgets, he got it immediately. He worked with me from start to finish, helping me build a system that punches well above its price point. The result was a carefully curated blend of tubes and solid state that created a synergy I didn't fully appreciate until I heard it all together. He helped me select my Paradigm Persona 5F speakers, Audio Research LS27 preamp, Parasound A21+, AudioQuest Niagara 3000, and interconnects. Each brand chosen with intention, Paradigm out of Toronto, Parasound originally based right here in San Francisco, Audio Research from Minnesota, and AudioQuest from Irvine CA. Respected names with solid reputations in the audiophile community that fit my budget without compromising on quality. Any system I was curious about I was able to audition without any pressure or hesitation. That kind of access says a lot about how they treat customers. And it doesn't stop at the sale. They helped with three moves of my audio gear, something regular movers simply are not equipped to handle with equipment this precious. They also helped connect my system which is a level of service you just don't expect from a retailer. That kind of relationship goes well beyond a transaction. The store itself is filled with incredible gear across some of the most coveted lines in the industry. McIntosh, Audio Research, Boulder, Anthem, dCS, and speakers from Paradigm, KEF, Wilson, Sonus Faber, and more. They also specialize in home theater if that's your thing. Just be warned, every visit is a little dangerous to the wallet. And don't overlook their preowned section either, it's where real bargains hide. That's how I picked up my Audio Research preamp for half its original price. This place is a "Music Lovers" dream whether you are just starting out or building your end game system. Ask for Spencer Giel, he's the real deal!
