My situation was unique, as my boyfriend and I are young new homebuyers with a tight budget and very unique space. We needed help designing our 750sq ft studio loft apartment. Although not her typical client, Catarine agreed to help us. Shortly after that phone conversation we agreed to work together and set up an in person time to meet. Catarine and her team came early, measured the space and spent a good amount of time speaking with me about the project. During our initial consultation, we scheduled the presentation for two weeks later. Presentation day- WOW, my boyfriend and I were blown away with the thought, time, detail, and creativity that went into the presentation. Catarine had us step into another room so that she can lay out everything perfectly on our island. She had a presentation board, slide show, video, print outs, and all the paper work organized by room. She also had several options for each room. I could have never thought of positioning furniture in ways that she did. I also didn't even think of placing certain pieces of furniture in specific spaces. She was able to show us what could be, and it was phenomenal. I am excited to see what the finished product looks like! I will write a follow up review.

I hired I-Lin in 2017 to assist me on a large interior design project for a doctor client in…read moreManhattan. The out-of-state client asked me to completely furnish a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment, with terrace, in a new luxury high-rise building before his arrival and relocation to New York City. I-Lin and I worked for 2 months on the project under tight timing and logistics constraints. Everything, including silverware, toiletries, linen, etc. had to be set up by the day the client arrived. During our time working together on the project, I got to know I-Lin very well because we spent many hours shopping for furniture, assembling furniture, and laying out each room. I-Lin proved to be excellent at his craft. His skills greatly complimented mine, and he worked gracefully under pressure. Anything that I requested I-Lin to do he did without question - from a small task to a challenging and time consuming project. I think the ultimate compliment of I-Lin's work is that we have formed a partnership between McKnight Image Lab and ILIN DESIGNS, and we now work together for other clients. I-Lin is a kindhearted, loyal, hardworking, and multi-talented creative professional. It's so hard to find all of those qualities in one person. She really took the time to take our needs, lifestyle, and design aesthetic into consideration when she created our outdoor garden (no easy task given the awkward layout of the space, windy conditions, and my need for outdoor art). She really takes the "living" room concept seriously as her designs are both beautiful and comfortable. Emma and her team have now planted our garden for three years in a row. Every year, it's something different. And every year, it's breathtaking. I've had the pleasure of working with Carol and her very talented team for a number of years to…read morerenovate my 3 bed-condo in preparation for extending our family. Carol and her team customized our space beautifully with attention to every detail. Finding a designer with an architect, carpenter, electrician, and painters as talented as Swift Morris Interiors was no easy task. This was a big project for our growing family and we wanted to make sure that it was done well and within budget (we don't have $$ to blow on fancy details). We chose Carol after seeing her work in another condo within our building. The craftsmanship and design were unique yet tasteful and done better than anything I've seen. So after several interviews with other designers, we selected Carol and team and could not be happier with the results. As with any major renovation, it was hard to live through. Many decisions needed to be made and Carol helped to guide us through this period. And like any major renovation, it does cost more than you planned and may take a little longer, but the choices made were well worth it. For example, lighting is an enormous expense. Much more than I had planned. While I would have been fine opting for fixtures from places like Restoration Hardware, etc, Carol insisted on a more unique vendor that truly brought character to our home and is the first thing people notice and compliment when they come over. It's not "showy" and wasn't a much bigger expense than if I had purchased from a mall-vendor, but it fits so well in our home, making it uniquely ours and has already added value to our condo (should we sell). Same with painting and color choice. Who would have thought that a salmon color would be the perfect choice for our mudroom? Not me. But Carol had a clear vision for this room, which is the most functional room in our condo, with plenty of storage to fit 2 bikes, 2 strollers, etc (it's not often you can that in Hoboken!). We always receive a ton of compliments on the color of the mudroom....all Carol but perfectly us. If you are looking for a long-term renovation, Carol and team are an excellent choice. After 2 kids, instead of moving to the burbs, we rebuilt our condo to bring the burbs to us and couldn't be happier with the results. We actually have more room than ever imagined and designed perfectly for a family.
