If only I could go back in time and NOT use this company. I paid A LOT of money for late delivery (really, months late); absolutely no updates (I had to call them more than once); and rude treatment. I used IM because they had installed other window treatments in a residence I purchased. In retrospect, I should have used the Shade Store where I have had a good experience in the past. Ultimately, the window treatments were fine, but the process was quite unpleasant. Feedback to Shivani: If selling shades is beneath you, perhaps you are in the wrong business. I wish there was an option to give Interior Motif a 0 / 5. I wouldn't recommend this company, if it was the only option available. I would have preferred to live in my home without shades than pay the amount of money I did, to be treated poorly and have a horrendous experience from the moment I gave the initial deposit. Prior to giving the deposit, I received frequent emails and updates from our salesperson, but from the moment I gave them the 50% Deposit, it was essentially radio silence. This was one of the worst customer experiences I have encountered; from showing up with missing and mismeasured shades, shades that did not work, incorrect lead times by over a month, and most importantly a lack-of / non-existent communication. When I spoke with the manager it was made to seem like the situation wasn't that big of a deal and Interior Motif did nothing to better the situation. As someone who works in a sales / customer service role, I'm not quite sure how this place stays in business. I would highly recommend staying away, unless you want a six-month headache. We had a very good experience working with Interior Motif, from the first time we visited the store to get initial estimates for customized closets for our new home (a condo unit in a high rise) all the way through to successful installation. The staff was accessible, good with follow through, funny, and very helpful: when they came to do the closet measurements they also helped us with a temporary fix after one of the closet racks from when we moved in had collapsed. The staff person gave us good details on how to maximize space in two crowded closets and led us to have much better organization in our new home. The scheduled installation day took a few weeks before actual installation due to it being a busy season. Still, the closets were completed a couple of weeks earlier than Interior Motif's initial time estimate, which made us happy. We will return here for future closet work and recommend it for others. read more

I had a really bad experience with Interior Motiff/ The Shade Store. The first time I ordered thru Interior Motiff everything was great, so much that I needed other blinds and I ordered again from them, but the second experience with the Shade Store has been terrible. The shades took a while to be ready but when they were finally installed, after the guy left, I realized 2 of the blinds were incorrect, there were not what i wanted. I immediately notified the store in writing and thru a phone call and I was told they were going to look into it, then 3 days after installation, the cord on one of the blinds broke, and I notified the store again, and was told to send a picture and they were going to look into it. After a couple of weeks, the cord on another one of the new blinds snapped while I was trying to open it. I called and emailed and was told to send pictures and they were going to look into. It's been a year of calling, emailing, stopping at the store and all I ever get is "we will look into it and we will send someone to fix the broken cord", but nothing has happened. The blinds move out of place constantly and I cannot pull them up because the cord is broken. I've been very patient, but this is ridiculous. I will never recommend this store again and I will never buy anything else from them ever again. read more

Oh boy was told I would get a call from the 'consultant' Shivana, which I did but now wished I had not. If you want to be totally ignored and run over with her responses before you finish a sentence then definitely call. There is no way you can respond no matter what you say it's like when you say something it's a trigger and she starts yapping. I have been in Sales my entire life and the first lesson is 'listen to the customer' - I guess she missed that one and several other obvious lessons. You can't SELL if you are talking. Period. I have not encountered a more egotistical ignorant person in years. How do the owners not have a clue how she treats their customers??? Who hired this person? I own a small 635 sq ft condo with six windows. It has excellent light when all the blinds are raised and makes it look much bigger when you have the outdoor view coming inside. The drag of having manual blinds that I had to open each time (again, five windows!!) meant that I rarely USED my windows and had the blinds up. I worked with interior motif to get Hunter Douglas Power Blinds. I wake up in the morning, and with one click of the button from the "pebble" (a remote control from HD), sunshine streams into my condo. I worked with Stephan, the owner, who came out - did a survey, we talked about using a lighter dimness level for my living room / kitchen and a darker (blackout) shade in my bedroom. I love the fact that at night my room is COMPLETELY DARK - which is nice for Hoboken, since street lights used to keep me up at night with my old blinds. Now when I wake up in my bedroom, I click the remote, and it is "good morning sunshine!" No complaints at all. I won't lie, there is a cost to having motorized HD power blinds. They aren't cheap. But I love having the remote control, and being able to sit at my couch and if it is too bright, I can easily raise and lower each individual shade without having to get up. Plus, they add value to my condo - people come in and see the shades all rise up in unison, they are always impressed. Big thumbs up to Interior Motif and Stephan. Highly recommended. read more

I am VERY happy with the service I received from Shivani at Interior Motif. I needed custom blinds when I moved into a pre-war building with oddly shaped windows. I also have beautiful views of the city that I wanted to look out at without having other people look back out at me. Shivani helped me choose blinds that changed color during the day. In the morning they are light so I can see out (but no one else can see in) and at night they become solid and opaque. She also helped me choose blinds for small rooms that would add to the décor without cluttering the space. These blinds are top notch and completely transformed the rooms. Even my landlord, who I had previously had a contentious relationship with, is now nicer to me since stopping by my apt to fix something and seeing how pretty I made the windows look. read more

I guess they don't want my business anymore. Back in 2012, we got blinds for our apartment here. They did a good job, but it wasn't cheap. The blinds are all still looking good, so popped in to ask about drapery. I brought in all my measurements and told the receptionist the type of drapes I wanted. I told her I was looking for further info and a quote. She was very friendly and let me know that the sales person (Shevani?) would get back to me. She was due into the store in an hour or so. No one called that day, so I waited a few days and called. The lady on the phone was nice enough, but she wanted to take down all my information again and/or schedule an in-home visit. Annoyed that I had already given over all the information, I just asked for the sales person to call me back. The lady on the phone said she would call me back in the AM. Last month, I found myself in need of blinds. So I traveled to Washington Street, and had one of the most unpleasant shopping experiences of my life. Serena was a very rude and not helpful sales associate, I ended up dealing with her attitude for my entire appointment. Ultimately I overpaid for cheap, awful window treatments, and they don't even hang straight. Thank god for true Yelp reviews, all the other positive reviews must be friends and family of the store. As for a customer, I was shocked. The showroom is extremely cramped and dark, although nicely renovated. I suppose the renovations are reflected in their pricing scheme considering everything is so expensive. In a nutshell: go to Home Depot, save your money (they have the same products for cheaper) and you won't have to go and be insulted by the staff at Interior Motifs. read more
