Norik at Audio Design and Service in Burbank was incredibly helpful with my Adam Audio A77Xs. Adam Audio in Germany told me this is their only official US repair shop, and luckily it's about 20 minutes from me. I had a phasing issue on the right and a brightness issue on the left. Norik went above and beyond, swapping amps and back plates, testing each driver and tweeter, and eventually tracing it to a phase problem in the right tweeter and a blown left tweeter. He replaced the left tweeter, corrected the phasing, and now both speakers sound pristine in my studio. do not listen to the bad reviews about this place a lot of people do not understand the complexities of their audio Gear and are upset when it cost money to fix. Where do I start.I have come and brought my music equipments for repair few times and it has been a disaster.They do not repair well at all and they over charge.Brought my Dj mixer and after the repair,two days later during my dj gig , it broke down again during the show...thanks god i had a spare one.I went back to tell them right away and they were accusing me and got mad at me until i threatened them with a law suit.I went another time for a different midi controller that had sticky pad and they were supposed to clean the pads and change the connectors part under it.When i picked it up,i decided to try it right there in front of them and they started to be mad at me saying it has been tested and it works.I said no,i want to test it in front of you so I plugged it right there and half a dozen of the pads were not working at all.They got so mad at me ,took the midi controller and fixed it a week later and had to drive there twice(20 miles).They didn't apologized and did not gave a break for all the trouble.Picked it up and tried it in front of them again and it worked.These guys are pure crooks and absolutely not professionals.Avoid at all cost read more

The longer I have known this business and Norick, the lower my opinion becomes. They are not just unskilled; they are lazy and unmotivated to help find solutions. It's no fluke that there are a lot of one star reviews. If it wasn't for their friends' reviews and the occasional simple repair jobs that Norick could handle quickly and cheaply, there's no way this place would have more than two stars. I don't know how they have maintained a Fender certified status, because they are next to incompetent. I had a glaringly obvious issue with a brand new Deluxe Reverb, but it was intermittent, which meant that you had to turn the amp up a little bit and play for a few minutes to really hear the issue of the volume cutting in and out. Everyone and their mom could hear when it happened, except Norick; He claimed he couldn't even tell there was anything wrong, and instead of putting in the few minutes to hear what was going on, he did the quintessential lazy repair shop thing to do and advised me to replace all the new tubes in this brand new amp. If the problem was tube-related, a competent repairman would be able to say which tube was faulty, but he suggested I just buy them all! That is a really immoral way to handle cases like ~ advising customers to make a big investment in an amp that will still be unplayable (he surely was just hoping I would buy the tubes from him). I didn't know what else to do, and it wasn't until after the warranty had expired that I brought the amp to a well-regarded technician who is not a certified fender guy. It turned out that the issue was in fact complicated and serious, and I was advised to take it up with Fender. So I brought it back to Audio Design. Norick still couldn't hear the problem ~ IT TURNS OUT THAT HE DOESN'T TURN UP THE AMPS THAT HE WORKS ON VERY LOUD BECAUSE HIS NEIGHBORS DON'T LIKE THE NOISE, WHICH CAN MAKE IT HARD FOR HIM TO HEAR WHAT THE AMP REALLY SOUNDS LIKE SOMETIMES! So at his request I sent him a recording of it happening, and he still couldn't tell what he was hearing! (Mind Blown). So I asked him if he would at least send a message to Fender on my behalf to verify that it has had an issue since it was sold, and would they please consider taking it in for repair or replacement. He told me that if I wrote a letter detailing the issue with the amp and everything, he would send it to his contacts at Fender and vouch for me, and I would hear back from them within a week or two. So I spent some time writing a great letter, I sent it to Norick, he told me he forwarded it to them, and I never heard back. I contacted Norick about it, and he stopped responding to me. Then I contacted Fender myself, and they actually believed my whole story and sent me a new amplifier. And guess what? THEY HAD NO RECORD OF EVER RECEIVING An EMAIL FROM NORICK!!!! I hope anyone who was on the fence about this place has read this far and realizes that this is a degenerate business that should not be in business anymore. There is another Fender certified repair shop within a few miles. Go there if you need to repair a fender. Shit, ask a dishwasher repairman. Ask anyone else. read more

This place is awful. I took my Juno there because the chorus function was making a buzzing sound, but it came back in far worse condition than I dropped it off in. The incredibly unfriendly salesperson claimed they could not fix the chorus because of a lack of appropriate chips. They instead replaced my inputs, which had not been a problem, without telling me first. Now the left input does not work, and I still have the issue with the chorus. I would not recommend this place to anybody looking to repair vintage equipment. I brought my Akai MG 1212 to Audio Design and Service in hopes that they would be able to fix the pots which were slightly scratchy. I was upsold on transport maintenance which I truly didn't need. When i got my tape console the pots were just as scratchy, if not scratchier than when I first brought it in. I don't believe they even opened the pots, they took the caps off the top and sprayed deox down into them and charged me $120 for that part of the service. I called to speak with the owner about what had happened and he lied and said he only charged me $20 for the "maintenance". My total at the end of the day for a little lube on the transport and deox on the pots was $340, they had my console for almost 2 months!! read more

It turns out that Audio Design and service incorrectly diagnosed the speaker power problem. They replaced and charged me a piece that had nothing to do with the problem. I took the speaker months later to Advanced Musical Electronics on Venice Blvd in West LA. They quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced one inductor in the power supply circuit. Remember, I took this speaker before to Audio Design and Service twice and they misdiagnosed the problem twice. A0dvance Musical Electronics charged me $135 total and had the speaker fixed within a week. I'm happy to report that the speaker works perfectly again now. Audio Design charged me $240 to misdiagnose the problem twice. These guys are an official warranty repair place of JBL speakers? Unbelievable. I deserve a refund. read more

I've been going there 20 years I bet. They fix anything I bring them they do it perfectly and cheap. When I put a rush on it they usually have it a same or next day. They've rebuilt my very expensive old tube microphones, repaired my expensive MPC 2000 drum machine, I teach piano lessons and today BOTH my pianos broke and I went over there and they had it fixed like new in 4 hours. I have an $8,000 microphone and when it went out they fixed it like new. I blew up a speaker I use for work and they had the new one ordered received and installed in 36 hours or less. Don't make your customers beg you for something you should do in the first place! We took our Keyboard for warranty service here. But the same problem returned within 20-minutes of play!! Oh well, it happens, no problem. We took it back the next day. They gave us a copy of the original invoice with the original date. We asked if we could get a receipt that would indicate our second service visit. The woman said, "Why? So you can blame it on us?" I'm not sure what that means, but I told them that I just wanted to have a record so that in case this problem becomes repetitive we have documentation against the Manufacturer. With a condescending tone, the main guy, Norik, said, "That's not how it works now, even if it happens ten times you have no choice, you have to bring it back for service. You can't do anything." I said I'd still like to have a record of every attempt at fixing this unit. He continued to belittle me. I mentioned again that I have no intentions towards them and that if this becomes a persistent problem I would be taking it up with the Manufacturer. He began to lecture me about what the laws are now and that I could not do anything. I said, I still have the right to take the Manufacturer to Small Claims Court even if I end-up losing. At this time he got upset and told us, "In that case why don't you just go to Court now." He told us to take our Keyboard and leave!! I guess he got upset that I dared to think I just might have some rights. He rejected us because I asked him for a proper receipt which I am fully entitled to in the first place!! Talk about Arrogance! Another case of "Take it or Leave it" attitude. By the way, when we fist walked in and told him that we had the same problem again, he said, "What are you doing to it?" He was just as arrogant about assuming that we were at fault! Maybe I should've asked him why they didn't fix the damn problem so we wouldn't have to come back! Instead of showing concern that his work did not hold up, he is busy shifting the blame. It's one thing to make a mistake, but this type of conduct puts these guys in a whole other category. I've got a lot of vintage gear of pedals, amps, and cabinets where my speakers have blown out. I believe in maintenance over consumption so I have high standards for repairs. They were close to my new house so I found them on yelp, and I have been going to them for repairs for over three years. One time I had to go back for a guitar amp but they found the problem and fixed it for free. Everything else they worked on is still working fine with no problems years later. I'm in no way displeased with their service, but wish they would've just said that they couldn't fix my problem upfront rather wasting their time and mine. I brought an amplifier in to be serviced and had to bring it back two times after the initial repair because the issue was never resolved. While I don't doubt that repair work was performed - perhaps even in excess of what I paid in terms of labor costs - I'm now in the possession of useless amplifier after three back and forth trips to the shop. I took my focal speaker that had some sort of noise that got worse. they returned and the issue started again with in the hour of use. second time around the same thing happened. TWICE! so I asked for my money back, THEN the manager finally appeared and said it was an amped they needed to replaced. they did and now the speaker is ok. (finger crossed) reading the above you don't realize that its an hour drive for me, I did shipping which is pricey so the ordeal lasted two weeks. really poor customer service. like immensely poor. and thus the reason of the low stars. this place is in a strip mall, the front desk guy doesn't seem he knows what he is doing... like in life in general. and the back seems to be electrical engineers who doesn't seem they know much about anything. not sure how they got a focal certification plate upfront saying they are the official servicing. im am contacting focal and letting them know and see if they can do some re certification and train these guys. at the end the reason they didn't find the issue TWICE was due to a hard to find problem on the twitter. which is cool if it happens the first time around, but TWICE?!? maybe they are better at alesis stuff , I dunno. its just my experience. read more

These guys do not know what they're doing. I have a broken AKG C451-B microphone. AKG recommended them as a authorized service center. Here's what happened: * I brought my AKG C451-B to Audio Design & Service telling them it's output was about 1/10 of what it used to be. None of my preamps even have enough gain to bring it to proper level. * After a week, they called saying nothing was wrong with it. I asked them to double-check. * After another week they called saying there was nothing wrong with it. They charged me $40 service. * I got home and plugged it into several channels using several mic cables, moving all of the sliders on the mic with the same result: about 1/10 it's normal gain. * I sent it back to them. They tested it and agreed there is a problem. They said it needed a new capsule. * After about a month, it was ready and I picked it up. They charged $62 for the capsule. * I took it home and tested it. Same result, about 1/10 the output. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. Anyone with half a brain could tell after plugging this mic in that something is seriously wrong in the output stage. They are nice guys, just VERY unqualified. read more

Had my Nord Electro 3 fixed here. Got the audio input broken on Electro 3 by stepping on the cable that was connected to it. He simply replaced the connector and everything works fine now. Norik knew exactly what the problem was and was confident in the repair. I drove 10miles more to this location rather than to Advanced Musical Electronics in Venice because they gave me an invoice for $120. And Norik gave me a good price of $87 with tax. Only downside is that they don't open an Saturdays. But other than that, great customer care, repair and price. read more

Avoid this place, especially if you have Guitar Center Pro Coverage. Sent a Pioneer DJ mixer in for a broken LED and to replace a knob that had become worn. After two weeks and no update I had to call only to have them struggle to even track down my paperwork. They then told me that the mixer would be ready in one or two days. Called them on Monday and again they had trouble finding my paperwork. When they found it, I was told they fixed the LED and replaced the knob with a different knob since they didn't have that particular part in stock. I had to insist that they get the factory part, which they said they would need more time to source. Since my pickup window was limited, I told them I would need it sooner. They get a second star only because someone actually got up right then and there and left to pick up the proper part from a nearby supplier so I could receive the mixer on time- which also means they could have gotten the right part anytime if they had cared to. Short story long, two weeks in possession and the LED was still broken when I got it back and tested it at home. Avoided the headache of dealing with them again and took it to another authorized service center in Woodland Hills who managed to do the job. Completely unprofessional workmanship, or lack thereof. Reception was friendly but technicians seemed to have a chip on their shoulder for being asked to do their jobs; thanked them on my way out to the sound of crickets. I definitely recommend Audio Design and Services. My dad's Korg keyboard started freezing up three months after the warranty deadline. We had to pay $40 for them to diagnose the problem and this fee was then applied to our total. It turns out that they had to order a part and install an update. The part took a while to arrive and so I just wish they communicated more. But overall, they finished the job and my dad is super happy. read more
