If Yelp had six stars, I'd give them to Audio Crafters. They are the best. Based on Yelp and Google reviews, I called Arthur at Audio Crafters to discuss installation of a backup camera in my 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. (If there was ever a vehicle that needs a backup camera, it's the FJ Cruiser!) He said he'd done such an installation in a lot of FJ's and asked me a number of questions about what audio system I currently had, whether I wanted a CD player or not (not), and what kind of smart phone I have. Based on my answers, he gave me a quote of "about $850 plus tax" for a new head unit for the stereo system, a USB port to replace the existing 3.5mm stereo jack for audio input, a backup camera, and installation. I told him that I wanted to proceed with the project, so we set a date for installation and he ordered the components. Two days later I was at his shop for the installation. The total time for project was about 3 hours, and the outcome was flawless. The new backup camera gives me superb view to the rear, including green, yellow and red rectangles to warn as the car comes near to objects (just like new OEM systems). Art installed the camera inside the rear bumper, so that it barely shows, dead center and right in line with other details on the bumper, so that it looks like a "factory" installation. The new radio head unit with touch screen is just amazing. Since I have an iPhone, it was installed using Apple's Car Play technology. I now not only have a backup camera, but also access to music and audio books on my iPhone and iPad (connected using either USB or Bluetooth), on-screen display of Apple's Map.app, connectivity to Siri, so I can tell her to "call home" or "get me directions to Harry Hanson's house." If I wish, I can also connect the radio system screen to iBooks, Audible, iTunes, other music apps, and more. I can dictate a message to somebody through Messages.app. Arthur was even able to connect the new system to my existing subwoofer in the FJ Cruiser. He also installed a new microphone for audio pickup for the iPhone and Siri, utilizing the only "perfect" location in the FJ Cruiser (on the lower dash area in front of the speedometer, but in a location that doesn't block view to any controls or dials). He even installed a second "bonus" USB port, on a cable inside the glove box. And, he paired my iPhone with the new system while he was giving me a demo of its features. In short, Arthur did everything he promised, everything I expected, and more. Price: Slightly less than the original estimate, which is always a pleasant surprise in situations like this. (No, "oh we ran into a few problems..." runarounds.) Also, the price includes a full one year warranty on parts and installation labor ("if you have any problems. Personality: Arthur is a quiet-mannered person, very understated in his demeanor, and extremely courteous. He treated me and other customers who came into his shop like royalty. He is totally professional. Am I happy with Audio Crafters and Arthur? Yes, and more. I am thrilled! I've had some good experiences and some bad experiences over the years with various automotive audio dealers in and around Pasadena. After researching car audio stores in the Pasadena area I stopped in to Audio Crafters this afternoon at 1:30 to see about replacing the stock audio head in my 2001 Mercedes SLK which had died two days ago. Came in on a a Friday, asked Arthur about changing out my old dying tape deck. He suggested me a Sony receiver but also suggested me an Alpine that was a bit more expensive but a lot better quality. After the awesome service that I had with Art at Audio Crafters I had to write my first Yelp review. First off, this was my first experience with Audio Crafters and I will say I will never go to the other car stereo shops again. I've dealt with other shops in Covina, Orange county, and the big box stores but the knowledge and customer service that Art provides is second to none, he knows the products and didn't try to talk me into something I wasn't looking for or try to "up sell" me on what other sales people have in their car like other shops have tried to do. Mind you, before I purchased my Pioneer 6100-nex I researched it and other comparable navigation systems after my old system started to go bad, so I had an idea of what I wanted. Art didn't try to sell me on a higher version of the navigation system like the 7100 or the 8100 nex systems, he also let me check out what he was doing during the installation as I like to know what is going on with my personal belongings while a stranger is working on my car, not sure if that's he's normal policy but he let me hang out and actually help out some during the installation and fixed some of the wiring issues from the prior navigation system that was previously installed. All in all after my experience with Audio Crafters I would highly recommend you checking them out if your in the market for anything car audio related. I would also recommend researching products before you buy so you have some type of knowledge about what you want or don't actually need or what, so if you make the mistake of not using audio crafters you don't get hosed by the "other guys". read more

This place is really awesome. I brought my 2004 Honda Accord with cash in my senior year last year. I never noticed that I had the feature of Auxiliary. The problem was the unit was closed if that makes since. I heard about a couple places that did aux cord inputs but their methods would have f**ked up my car. I then found this place when I was on break for work. Their price was reasonable and a tad cheaper than some other places. It wasn't about the price though, the owner was real cool and you can tell he knows what he's doing. I brought my car in and he hooked me up. Audio Crafters was recommended by my mechanic and Arthur has more than surpassed my expectations! Brought my recently purchased dream car ('87 911 Carrera), to update the sound system that was out of the late 80's... He took a look at the car we discussed what I was looking to accomplish and I was quoted a price on a new head unit and four speakers. After going home and comparing pricing online, his quote was VERY reasonable (actually less than I could find online, including installation). Came back the next week after work and had it all installed. About a week later the head unit's Bluetooth began to malfunction. After a few attempts at troubleshooting, it appeared to be a manufacturer issue. Called Arthur and he said to bring it in whenever convenient and he would take a look. I suggested that Friday afternoon, he agreed and actually stayed open late to take a look at the issue. After a quick diagnosis, he pulled out and replaced the faulty unit with another brand new head unit which is working perfectly. No questions, no charge, and was in and out within 10 minutes with another new head unit (functioning properly)! This type of customer service is very rare in my opinion. Arthur represents the best of independent business owners, knowledgeable, honest, professional and goes the extra mile in his customer service to ensure satisfaction. I am very glad he was recommended and I cannot recommend him enough! After checking reviews on Yelp, and visiting other auto stereo outlets, I went to Audio Crafters and met with the owner, Art. I have an older model car, and wanted to hook up my iPhone to play through my existing speakers. Art went over all the options, and I elected to replace the radio with a newer model that would meet my needs and budget. Quite refreshingly, he didn't try to upsell me to a more expensive model. I made an appointment, as the parts had to be ordered. Today my new radio was installed in less than an hour, and it feels like I have a brand, new car with totally updated audio features. Upon picking up the car, Art reviewed all the new features with me, taking the time to answer all my questions. I cannot recommend Art and Audio Crafters highly enough. I must say my experience here was fantastic. I bought a new Mustang V4 EcoBoost and the installed system was extremely weak. It could get loud but never clear and with no richness and no depth. Initially I went there thinking I could spend a couple hundred dollars for new speakers , but Arthur, who is a great professional , told me he would not take my money and thst such a small investment wouldn't improve things, so we shook hands and I departed. But later I realized I couldn't quite live with the sound being so poor, and I decided to go back and have him advise me on what kind of system would be appropriate, and he had earned my business by being so professional and so honest in my first encounter with him. He chose with me some tremendous speakers and an amplifier and a subwoofer and now I am cruising around the Southland listening to The Beach Boys in high Style. I having been having an intermittent problem with my aftermarket power windows in my Chevy 2003 Astrovan and it has been driving me crazy. No one else wanted to work on aftermarket power windows, not even power window specialists, but Art offered his assistance. I dropped off the vehicle around 9am and he had it done by 11am. He had to replace oa relay and fix some other wire issue or something. In any case, they work great now and the price was way too low! I gave him a nice tip as I think he under charges for his time. He is really a great technician and deserves to charge higher prices for the quality of work he does and the frustration he deals with every day. I consider myself an avid car audio guy so I have gone to several high end shops over the years. I've had work done by Competition Soundworks (no longer is business) and Speaker Works (great work by those guys) so you know I gravitate towards high-end installs. That said, Arthur at Audio Crafters in Pasadena does GREAT work for less. He will be VERY honest regarding what you really need and provide you with great work for less money than the competition. He has an electrical engineering background so he knows how to correctly connect all your electronics and does good custom work (wood, vinyl and fiberglass). Furthermore, he has great brands (Dynaudio, Focal, Audiocontrol, McIntosh, ARC Audio, etc). So if you live in the San Gabriel Vally, do yourself a favor and see Arthur. You will soon discover what I discovered, a great local shop with great products and low prices. There really no reason to go anywhere else. P.S. I would really ignore Dean C.'s comment on the very bottom as I sincerely do not believe he has ever been to this shop. Had he been there, he would know that Audio Crafters sell the above mentioned brands (Dynaudio, Focal, Diamond Audio, Audiocontrol, McIntosh, ARC Audio, etc) which are NOT lower end brands. I usually don't write on Yelp but I had to after my exceptional experience with Audio Crafters! I went here because of the great reviews on Yelp and I was not disappointed. About a year ago I went to Planet Stereo in Covina and got a full system (Alpine Type Rs in my doors and 2x10 JL w6 subs) for my mk6 Jetta. I got everything for pretty cheap but I also got cheap work quality and wiring. After reading their reviews and hearing a friend recommend Audio Crafters I called Arthur because one of my rear door speakers stopped working. He told me to come in so he could check it out. On my way I stopped (out of curiosity) at some chop shop car audio place to get a price quote on what it would cost to check my door speaker. While I was there they tried to up sell me $600 worth of stuff that they insisted I needed without even knowing what was wrong yet. Like most car audio places I didn't trust these guys and decided to still stick with trying Audio Crafters because of their five star review. When I pulled in Arthur remember me from the phone and started working on my car right away. It turned out my wiring had become corroded from water damage (probably car washing). The speaker was still good! Arthur's nephew wired it back in and even went the extra mile by sodding the new terminals. He even fixed my stereo imagining that had never been properly wired from my amp in the first place. Feeling insecure about the quality of work from my original set up I asked Arthur if everything looked okay (amp wattage to subs, wiring, high to low converter, etc.). He was very honest and friendly, and didn't try to up sell me. While there is always room for improvement, he said I was fine and didn't need to get anything else. By the looks of the shop and products (Focal, Dynaudio, Denon, Audison, etc.) I could tell Arthur is a true audiophile. We got to talking about high end audio and as a fellow audiophile, I knew Arthur really knew his stuff and is passionate about hi-fi audio! He even showed me his own car set up and had me sit in the driver's seat and listen to his finely tuned system. I asked him how I could improve my own system and he recommended ditching my crapper high to low for a legit processor. He wasn't pushy and said he could sell me a better high to low but told me to save my money towards a processor because in the end, that's what is gonna make me the most satisfied with my sound. His advice is great. He doesn't cut corners on the work and his products are all high end. If ya wanna play around with cheap kid's stuff then go to every other stereo shop, but if you want clean legit sound from a passionate audiophile, go see Arthur. I will never go anywhere else!!!!! Thank you Arthur for being friendly and giving me sound advice and work. But most of all, thank you for being honest with me, you've earned my business!
