I'm sad to say that my experience with Walter's Service Center is not only disappointing, it is unacceptable.
I purchased my Audi one year ago and had a terrific experience. The back window has a defect, and I was promised Service would take care of it in four months (parts were delayed). I had to keep calling to remind them about this.
In the meantime, my etron turned off acceleration and went into "safe mode" when I was stopped at a stop light for an extended time period. This means that when the light turned green and I stepped on the accelerator, nothing happened. I had to turn the car off and back on to get going.
I took the car in to Service. The team there is exceptionally nice and hospitable. That is always a great experience. The problem was I asked them to figure out what was wrong with safe mode and to fix the window. I got the car back two weeks later, and neither problem was fixed. I was told that there is no safe mode and that I should take a picture of it next time it happens. They forgot to order the part for the window. So I made another appointment.
While I waited, the issue with the accelerator continued to happen. I found a forum online where others talked about the issue. I wasn't able to take a picture (hard to have your phone out and ready for an unexpected event as it doesn't happen every time). However, I did call twice to service as soon as it happened so I had a record of the time and date that it occurred.
This information should be enough for the techs to find and fix the issue. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The computer isn't giving them an error code, so there is nothing they can do. They said I have to take a picture next time. I am confused how taking a picture of the safe mode will help them find the issue in the computer, but that is the only solution they have.
This is a safety issue. It is disappointing that Audi isn't taking this seriously. The car turns off the accelerator. Given that this has happened to other 2022 etron owners across the United States, I would expect Audi to look into the issue and provide a solution. Telling the owners to take a picture next time is not a solution (they said that to other owners in the forum as well).
The Audi website says to take our vehicles to Audi service because they know our cars best. How discouraging to discover that they actually do not know why they made the car turn off the accelerator and go into safe mode.
I remember when Service departments had techs who knew and understood the cars they worked on. They didn't rely on the computer to tell them what was wrong, and they didn't ask customers to take pictures. They were able to listen to customer complaints, diagnose the problem, and come up with solutions. read more
