Aubrey's clock's just did the most amazing restoration on my 125+yr Grandfather Clock. To say his ability and professionalism is top notch would be an understatement. I was devastated when I accidentally knocked my clock over a while cleaning and it ceased to function. This clock was handed down to me from my 79yo father who had obtained it when he was 10 years old, having been given the clock by his elementary School teacher in alki elementary as they were clearing out the once one-room schoolhouse for the new West Seattle elementary to be built. That was roughly around 1940. Needless to say This Clock had a hung on every wall in every house I lived in & has brought me much comfort since my father passed away 8 years ago. So when Aubrey's clocks offers you a high estimate for what they do for your clock, Please know That estimate is based on true time-honored experience. They don't make clocks today the way they did in 1887 and it takes a true Master to understand what they need to continue to function in 2026. Enormously overpriced! I have an antique grandfather clock that had stopped working. I called to inquire about his service. He specifically said there would be a $275 charge for an "in home" service call at which time an "on the spot" adjustment might be all that was required, otherwise, he would need to take the clock to the shop. I made the "in home" appointment. Upon arrival, he and his assistant took a cursory look at the clock deciding a little oil might do the trick. It did NOT do the trick! He said an "in shop" repair would cost between $2000 - $3000! I said, I'll think about it." Upon leaving my home he charged me $375! I then had the clock fully repaired (in shop) by another store for HUNDREDS less than Aubrey. Obviously, would NOT recommend this place. read more

Amazing watch and clock gallery located in Gilman Village. Aubrey and his staff are friendly and quickly took care of 10 old watches that needed battery replacements and minor repairs. One included a sentimental TAG Heuer 1000 Professional from medical school 30 years ago that had stopped working and not been used in over 15 years. They immediately discovered a battery leak and corrosion damage upon open inspection. I was prepared to keep it as a memento piece, but they offered to repair it with timepiece and gasket replacements for half the price of the TAG Heuer Overhaul Service. A week later, I have a rejuvenated TAG watch that I love and could not be more pleased with their workmanship. They charged me exactly what they quoted in their estimate and the watchmaker gave me a detailed explanation of the repaired parts and water testing. I wish I could put a zero, STAY AWAY. I brought two watches that had only been worn once and had sat in drawer such that the batteries needed replacing. They called and said that one worked and the other didn't after replacing batteries. I said that is ODD they have only been worn once. They agreed to take another look. Then called two days later saying the movement needed to be replaced and the two of the 12 was dislodged. I asked them how it happened it was like new?? They denied that it was their fault. I picked up the watches and the one they said was working wasn't and the other had severe gouges on the back and scratched bezel. He claimed he decided not to fix the other one. I took to Nault Jewelers. They opened and identified the problem instantly. The coil was damaged when they tried to pry out the battery at Aubrey's. The numbers were falling out because it was opposite where they were prying and they dislodged the watch face/dial trying to get the battery out. Aubrey's refuses to pick up the phone and they cost me 50 dollars to repair their damages. The other watch you could see that the battery was removed and reinstalled. A new battery made it work fine. I brought in an old Fossil watch (circa 1992) I had come across while cleaning out my jewelry drawer and thought I could re-invent it with a cool new strap. Unfortunately, a new battery didn't bring it back to life. I took it to all the local Jewelers who told me that they wouldn't be able to repair it. I even called Fossil in attempts to find the parts for it. Finally as a last ditch effort I took it to Aubrey's and he was able to replace the movement for minimal cost and it now works like it was new. Based on my experience with my watch I brought in an expensive Ethan Allen wall clock that was just out of warranty to also have the movement replaced. Aubrey's replaced the movement and the clock is back working, although keeping time slowly on occasion, but the quality of their work doesn't seem to be quite what I had hoped for such an expensive piece of basically what is furniture for my wall. From the front it looks ok, but take it down and flip it over and it definitely has a "tinkered with" look to it now. If it was a cheaper clock I probably wouldn't have minded. read more

This is a great place if you are looking for a timepiece - more than just a clock, but something that makes a statement. The owner is very well versed in the products he carries and is more than happy to take the time to show you the differences between a quartz clock and a mechanical. They carry many choices - some new, some used and are willing to match internet prices, which is something I didn't expect from a place like this (Gilman village is a very nice, boutique kind of place that seems to value quality and selection over price). I was thrilled to find an older mantle clock with a brand new mechanism. I really like the resonance of a real chime vs. even the best of the electrical reproductions and this one will be on our mantle for years to come. (They also replace batteries and do repairs. I can sympathize when someone feels like it takes a long time but my personal experience with mechanical watches is that repairs often require waiting on parts to be shipped and that can take a while). I felt the service was great for the kind of shop they have - it's not all over you, asking you if they can help you find anything every 2 minutes but the kind of deep knowledge and willingness to share their information and experience with those who are really serious about clocks. read more

I recently brought an old clock to this shop that my wife got in S. Korea back in the 90's. It wasn't working and they gave me a reasonable price to fix it and I left it there for two days. They called after two days, as they had promised, and it was fixed and ready for pick up. No extra charges and the problem with the clock was exactly as they had diagnosed. The owner and the young lady working made me feel very comfortable with the whole process. These people are professional, kind and great to work with! I highly recommend them! read more

In Sept of 2017, Aubrey packed, wrapped and supervised the moving of my Grandparents antiques Grandfather clock from Seattle, Washington to Nashville , TN. He disassembled and packed the pendulum and chimes in their own boxes, then personally supervised the wonderful crating job by Craters and Freighters at 6649 S 216th St, Kent, WA. Aubrey also mailed me detailed instructions on the reassembly of the clock and kept in contact with me on the progress of the whole process. move forward to March 2020 when a tornado ripped through Nashville, totalling to storage facility where we stored the still crated Grandfather clock. Upon going to the storage facility to see if any of our stored Items survived, there in the 2 story rubble was the crate that contained the precious clock. I can't think of any better advertisement for 2 businesses than to say the antique clock survived, in its crate, a F3 tornado that destroyed the building it was in. I feel so bad for these folks, I never see anybody inside and thought I'd throw them some business before having dinner. It has a quaint mom and pop feel though it isn't really for everybody. They have low quality watches but high quality clocks for purchase and they can repair most any of them as well. I paid $16 for a watch battery to be replaced and installed, not too bad. read more

He was good about calling and trying to come into the home to take a look at grandmother clock, but once he arrived, he was rushed, and basically got the clock running again but dismissed my concerns for the minute and hour hands. This so called professional clock man shows up at my house and spends a maximum of 20 minutes here, puts a squirt of oil, screws in my screws on clock face, knowing they won't fit (has asked him to get the right ones, but he said they came from German and he refused to order them for his customers). He charged me twice what a plumber or electrician charges ($200 + tax) and refuses to order the proper screws for my grandfather clock. Stay away from this guy, he is just trying to get more money for repairs, because when I complained, he said I would not do a complete repair, which he charges $2200 plus tax for (can buy a new clock for that). Naturally I knew nothing of this until he arrived. My clock does not need repair, just new screws for face plate. I would rate this as a minus -5 stars. I was in business for 40+ years and if I treated my customers this way, I would have gone bankrupt. Am very dissatisfied and feel cheated. read more

Granted it was a teensy expensive to have it done but I love Gilman Village and try to give my patronage to the businesses there.
