Location is close to a ton of shops and restaurants: you will not be bored, that's for sure. I would love to stay here again! Upon arriving at the hotel, the lobby is beautifully decorated with seating area with overhead chandelier. The reception desk is to the left and the market area is to the right. The agent was very friendly and went over the hotel amenities. I had made it up to my King Premium Room, located on the 6th floor. The room was very cozy with plenty of natural light. The view was of a park and near by building. The large bathroom had a separate soaking tub and a shower. The hotel amenities included a fitness centre, lounge and a restaurant, which I didn't utilize. However, they seemed to be very popular with other guests. I would highly recommend this hotel... We finally retained an awaiting taxi nd left for the train station back to Amsterdam.

Amazing location, room, breakfast, and M Club…read more We started our recent tour of Christmas Markets in Brussels and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful and convenient this hotel was. Our room was large by European standards, quite comfortable, and well equipped. And the service at the front desk, the restaurant, and the M Club was quite good. As Titanium guests, the very tasty breakfast was complimentary and the M Club a lovely refuge w/coffee, beverages, and snacks available 24/7 and in the evening alcohol and light bites including fresh waffles (note that the hotel resolved the issue of a previous reviewer and you now need the correct key card access). Old Town is a delightful pedestrian friendly village within Brussels with many wonderful sights, restaurants, shops that we loved to explore...not to mention the Grand Place and Christmas markets. And the Brussels North train station was a short walk away from which we took a very pleasant train ride to Bruges (I heartily recommend both the train and the town). There were always taxis right outside the hotel - one day we visited the Atomium/World's Fair area and on departure we took one to the TGV at Brussels Midi (since we had luggage). All in all we were quite thrilled with our stay at the Marriott Grand Place.

This rating may partially reflect the misaligned of the hotel experience to my higher expectations of a Design Hotel by Marriott. The staff was friendly. When we arrived a bit early, they offered to watch our stuff while we grabbed lunch. They mentioned a room should be available early as they were not too booked. We returned in about 2 hours just to check if a room might be ready but were prepared to continue to explore if not. They said the room was cleaned and just pending inspection. Foolishly we waited, it ended up being over an hour and we were now checking in after standard check in time. Frustrating but it happens. The room was spacious but had a few minor issues a hotel of this level should not. They bathroom door would not close all the way, and while spacious, the room is still cozy and without a fully shut door, one could hear, well, everything happening in the bathroom. Further, the sink would not drain unless the plug thing in the middle was fully removed from the sink. These issues were reported but we weren't expecting they be resolved before check out (and they weren't). I was on vacation but needed to check in on a few work items. My biggest annoyance was that their wifi was spotty and best and kept dropping in and out. I ended up having to take my laptop out of the hotel to send a few important emails. Disappointing. Location wise, it's great. Easy walk to everything. Tenish minutes to the train station. In the heart of downtown without being subject to all the downtown craziness. As the goal was to minimize time in room, the location made it easy.

She also said we are going to charge 50 Euros for early check in. I have travelled around the world and have stayed in so many Marriott properties but I never faced this kind of service or behavior. The staff was absolutely racist. Me and my son noticed that they were greeting white people with smile and pleasure while they were annoyed to see us. Then she said if you want you can cancel the hotel by calling Marriott directly. I immediately called and they helped me cancel the hotel and booked a new hotel for us. I would highly recommend not to stay in this hotel when they don't know how to treat people with equality.
Hôtel Métropole

Why 4 stars? Because it was centrally located and certainly unique!…read more --- --- --- This was the final hotel on our 13 days expedition throughout Europe. With our trip coming to an end, we had mixed emotions - it was something we looked forward to for months while planning it, but damn... we were to tired. We walked over 100 miles during our time in various cities, so we were both very excited to get back to a normal life... and Hotel Metropole was our last stop before making that journey. The main lobby area looked much more like a super old school bank, than a hotel. Outside the hotel, there was a ton of construction going on, as they were completely re-doing a very wide road (think small highway-sized.) The person who checked us in provided us with ear buds in case the construction noise disturbed us, but we didn't hear anything from our rooms. Plus, we loved the very centralized location of this hotel - everything was within one mile, which allowed us to walk to everything we had on our itinerary. Our bellhop quickly became my all-time favorite person in his chosen profession. He had our bags and basically went into an all-out sprint to make sure to catch the elevator, but somehow he did this super gracefully. I was wildly impressed. He couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating, as we had a few questions about the area and the room. The room had very high ceilings and a huge bathroom. It wasn't super updated or out-of-date - kind of caught in the middle. The AC was not turned on for our stay on May 9th, which meant that we had to open the window. Not ideal, but this was the norm throughout Europe at this time of year. Breakfast was offered for 9.50 Euros (Express) or 21 Euros (Full) but we didn't have time. We were only here for one night and had a flight to catch in the morning. My biggest complaint was the situation with the shower. When you turned the water on, it came out of both the shower head and the water faucet and there was no way to turn off one or the other. They were either both on or both off. That would have been fine, but the temperature in the water was wildly different. My shower water was warm, but the bath water was scalding. I would have loved the shower water to be hotter, but my feet couldn't handle the bath water to be turned up any more. It had to have been about a 20 degree difference. Other than that, our stay here was great!
This is a beautiful, old hotel with plenty of history and charm. You're greeted by warm colors in…read morethe entryway, which leads to a large lobby and bellboys who leap to help with your bags. An old-fashioned elevator with a sliding scissor gate awaits to transport you to your floor. The room itself does not have quite the same feel as the rest of the hotel. It's extremely outdated, with pale walls and worn-out furniture. We noticed scuff marks on walls, chipped corners on dressers, and a window that almost fell apart as you tried to open it. We stayed here for our honeymoon, and while the location was excellent, the room was anything but romantic. Still, the rest of the hotel does have an old charm that helps make up for the outdated parts. There was also a lot of construction right outside the hotel, so that might be something to keep in mind when planning a stay here. We arrived at Bruxelles Midi and were told we could take the metro and get off at the De Brouckere station, which is just a few steps from the hotel. We had trouble finding it, though, and ended up taking an Uber from the Bruxelles Midi to the hotel, which took approximately 20 minutes.
