We stayed here in September. It was a pleasant stay. The hotel is very grand, with marble floors, huge vaulted ceilings and plush furniture in the public areas. The rooms were very nice, clean and the beds comfy. The free mini bar (2 of each, water, coke and beer) is a nice touch. We had six rooms in total. Five of the six were superb with balconies and nice views of the city. One wasn't so good as it was right by the extraction vent from the kitchen and had no balcony. It was hot and you couldn't open the window because of the noise and smell from the vent. Overall pretty good though. We had the breakfast buffet as part of the package and it was excellent. There was lots of choice. If only the mushrooms weren't from tins! I would advise against eating at the hotel's Cafe Metropole. It was expensive, slow service and the food wasn't very nice.

I stayed here on a trip to Belgium in November 2014.The hotel is a beautiful piece of history ,conveniently situated in central Brussels ,with many restaurants and stores close by.It was built in the 1800's The beautiful architecture ,and paintings on the walls are evident of this Renaissance period The lift ,however ,is very difficult to operate and you will struggle to get your luggage in if you dont have help. The breakfast was just a standard buffet ,nothing out of this world ,especially since the hotel is quite expensive (I paid 120 euro for 1 night ) The staff were really professional and always ready to help The hotel is a beautiful slice of history ,and aside from the lift and the price,it is a lovely place to stay

Overall: Luxury hotel with a great breakfast, great price and central location. The Metropole is situated right across the street from a metro station (De Brouckere), a couple blocks north of a grocery store (Anspach) and a very short walk to the Grand Place. Being central there are countless places to eat and drink within a very short distance of the hotel. The location is excellent. You cannot help but be amazed at the grandeur of the hotel when walking in to the lobby. The hotel lobby is grand, and their staff provide service that you would expect out of from a hotel with this appearance. The bell staff and front desk staff are courteous, polite and very accommodating. No problems at all with check-in. The standard rooms are very nice and extremely reasonably priced. While they are somewhat dated, they are not dirty or run down. The internet speed is excellent and the minibar is free (2 waters, 2 beers, 2 cokes). The AC worked fine and the bed was comfortable. We had no issues with noise from other rooms or outside. One of the highlights was breakfast. While not the largest breakfast buffet, there is a wide selection of hot (eggs, bacon, etc) and cold items. There is also fresh baking at breakfast. The service is excellent, the wait staff is very attentive and always at your disposal. The food is delicious; often you find the buffet food to be warm and a feeling that it was mass produced with corners cut. This is not the case with the Metropole's breakfast buffet as all the food tastes good as if it was made with care and attention by professional staff. One note however, when we were at breakfast many of the guessed were dressed upscale (suits, military uniforms, etc) so you may feel out of place if you are not appropriately dressed.

Staying at this hotel was one of the best choices I made for my vacation to Brussels Location: Can't be beat. Right in city center of Brussels, next to all of the popular attractions. 90% of everything we saw was within a 20 minute walk of the hotel. Reception My arrival to Hotel Amigo was greeted with the warming charm of the bell hop and reception. It was like they had been waiting for me since the foundation of the hotel and now all their hopes of my arrival had come to fruition. Finally, they had the privilege of attending to my every need; which they certainly would. Room: The rooms are excellent, designed in that sleek, modern contemporary style you expect from Belgium. It's like if Batman wasn't so angry and color monotone. The tech in the room (TV, Phone) were all top notch. Any hotel that allows me to watch Food Network Marathons in English, while munching on a liege waffle in bed is OK in my book. Bathroom: The bathrooms were beautifully done and had one of those high pressure showers that massage you with a intermittent fire hose strength spray if you chose. If I had to pick one gripe with this hotel, it's the shower current/door. They do one of those European style half doors, but it doesn't quite work with such a strong shower head, resulting in quite a bit of water getting outside of the shower. Service: There is nothing negative I could say about the service here. It goes beyond the standard. The personnel in this hotel are so friendly, you'd think they were on drugs (or Canadian). Every request is met with a rapid, high priority response. If something cannot be resolved, they will ensure you have at least the best secondary option at your disposal. The cleaning folks come around all the time. You step out to get a waffle (I ate a lot of waffles), and BOOM, that bed is remade and those clothes are folded when you come back. I swear the reception must be watching you like undercover cops speaking into earpieces to maid service as you leave the hotel; "Big Eagle has just left the nest, go go!". I don't know what else to say. This hotel was great. I'll be staying here every time I'm in Brussels. Oh, and the very best thing? Right across the street from the hotel ....the BEST WAFFLE SPOT EVER!!!!!!!!!

The hotel amenities included a fitness centre, lounge and a restaurant, which I didn't utilize. However, they seemed to be very popular with other guests. I would highly recommend this hotel... Our room was large by European standards, quite comfortable, and well equipped. And the service at the front desk, the restaurant, and the M Club was quite good. As Titanium guests, the very tasty breakfast was complimentary and the M Club a lovely refuge w/coffee, beverages, and snacks available 24/7 and in the evening alcohol and light bites including fresh waffles (note that the hotel resolved the issue of a previous reviewer and you now need the correct key card access). Old Town is a delightful pedestrian friendly village within Brussels with many wonderful sights, restaurants, shops that we loved to explore...not to mention the Grand Place and Christmas markets. And the Brussels North train station was a short walk away from which we took a very pleasant train ride to Bruges (I heartily recommend both the train and the town). There were always taxis right outside the hotel - one day we visited the Atomium/World's Fair area and on departure we took one to the TGV at Brussels Midi (since we had luggage). This rating may partially reflect the misaligned of the hotel experience to my higher expectations of a Design Hotel by Marriott. The staff was friendly. When we arrived a bit early, they offered to watch our stuff while we grabbed lunch. They mentioned a room should be available early as they were not too booked. We returned in about 2 hours just to check if a room might be ready but were prepared to continue to explore if not. They said the room was cleaned and just pending inspection. Foolishly we waited, it ended up being over an hour and we were now checking in after standard check in time. Frustrating but it happens. The room was spacious but had a few minor issues a hotel of this level should not. They bathroom door would not close all the way, and while spacious, the room is still cozy and without a fully shut door, one could hear, well, everything happening in the bathroom. Further, the sink would not drain unless the plug thing in the middle was fully removed from the sink. These issues were reported but we weren't expecting they be resolved before check out (and they weren't). I was on vacation but needed to check in on a few work items. My biggest annoyance was that their wifi was spotty and best and kept dropping in and out. I ended up having to take my laptop out of the hotel to send a few important emails. Disappointing. Location wise, it's great. Easy walk to everything. Tenish minutes to the train station. In the heart of downtown without being subject to all the downtown craziness. As the goal was to minimize time in room, the location made it easy.
